Magnetization measurements in the low field region have been carefully performed on a well-shaped cylindrical and an ellipsoidal sample of superconductor $MgCNi_3$. Data from both samples show almost the same results. The lower critical field $H_{c1}$ and the London penetration depth $lambda$ are thus derived. It is found that the result of normalized superfluid density $lambda^2(0)/lambda^2(T)$ of $MgCNi_3$ can be well described by BCS prediction with the expectation for an isotropic s-wave superconductivity.

The response of vortex state to the magnetic field in Nb3Sn is probed using muon spin rotation and small-angle neutron scattering. A transformation of vortex structure between hexagonal and squared lattice is observed over a relatively low field range of 2-3 Tesla. The gradual increase of the magnetic penetration depth with increasing field provides microscopic evidence for anisotropic (or multi-gapped) s-wave pairing suggested by the Raman scattering experiment. This result renders need for careful examination on the difference of electronic properties between Nb3Sn and V3Si.
We report specific heat capacity measurements on a LiFeAs single crystal at temperatures down to 400 mK and magnetic fields up to 9 Tesla. A small specific heat jump at Tc and finite residual density of states at T=0 K in the superconducting (SC) state indicate that there are strong unitary scatterers that lead to states within the SC gap. A sub-linear magnetic field dependence of the Sommerfeld coefficient gamma(H) at T=0 K is equally well fitted by both a nodal d-wave gap as well as a sign changing multiband pm s-wave gap. When impurity effects are taken into account, however, the linear temperature dependence of the electronic specific heat C_{el}/T at low temperatures argues against a nodal d-wave superconducting gap. We conclude that the SC state of LiFeAs is most compatible with the multiband pm s-wave SC state with the gap values Delta_{small}=0.46 Delta_{large}.

A high quality superconducting Li$_{0.68}$NbO$_2$ polycrystalline sample was synthesized by deintercalation of Li ions from Li$_{0.93}$NbO$_2$. The field dependent resistivity and specific heat were measured down to 0.5 K. The upper critical field $H_{c2} (T)$ is deduced from the resistivity data and $H_{c2}(0)$ is estimated to be $sim 2.98$ T. A notable specific heat jump is observed at the superconducting transition temperature $T_c sim 5.0$ K at zero field. Below $T_c$, the electronic specific heat shows a thermal activated behavior and agrees well with the theoretical result of the BCS s-wave superconductors. It indicates that the superconducting pairing in Li$_{0.68}$NbO$_2$ has s-wave symmetry.

The lower critical field $H_{c1}$ has been carefully measured on a well shaped cylindrical sample of the new superconductor $MgB_2$ fabricated by high pressure synthesis. The penetration depth $lambda$ is calculated from the $H_{c1}$ data. It is found that a linear relation of $H_{c1}(T)$ appears in whole temperature region below $T_c$. Furthermore a finite slope of $dH_{c1}/dT$ and $dlambda(T)/dT$ remains down to the lowest temperature (2 K). These are inconsistent with the expectation for a widely thought s-wave superconductivity in $MgB_2$.
The title compound is investigated by specific heat measurements in the normal and superconducting state supplemented by upper critical field transport, susceptibility and magnetization measurements. From a detailed analysis including also full potential electronic structure calculations for the Fermi surface sheets, Fermi velocities and partial densities of states the presence of both strong electron-phonon interactions and considerable pair-breaking has been revealed. The specific heat and the upper critical field data can be described to first approximation by an effective single band model close to the clean limit derived from a strongly coupled predominant hole subsystem with small Fermi velocities. However, in order to account also for Hall-conductivity and thermopower data in the literature, an effective general two-band model is proposed. This two-band model provides a flexible enough frame to describe consistently all available data within a scenario of phonon mediated s-wave superconductivity somewhat suppressed by sizeable electron-paramagnon or electron-electron Coulomb interaction. For quantitative details the relevance of soft phonons and of a van Hove type singularity in the electronic density of states near the Fermi energy is suggested.
