We study the explosion mechanism of collapse-driven supernovae by numerical simulations with a new nuclear EOS based on unstable nuclei. We report new results of simulations of general relativistic hydrodynamics together with the Boltzmann neutrino-transport in spherical symmetry. We adopt the new data set of relativistic EOS and the conventional set of EOS (Lattimer-Swesty EOS) to examine the influence on dynamics of core-collapse, bounce and shock propagation. We follow the behavior of stalled shock more than 500 ms after the bounce and compare the evolutions of supernova core.

In this work we present a detailed explanation of the construction of an appropriate equation of state (EoS) for nuclear astrophysics. We use a relativistic model in order to obtain an EoS for neutrally charged matter that extends from very low to high densities, from zero temperature to 100 MeV with proton fractions ranging from 0 (no protons) to 0.6 (asymmetric matter with proton excess). For the achievement of complete convergence, the Sommerfeld approximation is used at low temperatures and the Boltzman distribution for relativistic particles is used in the calculation of the electron properties at very low densities. Photons are also incorporated as blackbody radiation. An extension of this EoS is also presented with the inclusion of strangeness by taking into account the sigma minus hyperon only. Strangeness fractions range from 0.02 to 0.3.

An experimental overview of reactions induced by the stable, but weakly-bound nuclei 6Li, 7Li and 9Be, and by the exotic, halo nuclei 6He, 8B, 11Be and 17F on medium-mass targets, such as 58Ni, 59Co or 64Zn, is presented. Existing data on elastic scattering, total reaction cross sections, fusion processes, breakup and transfer channels are discussed in the framework of a CDCC approach taking into account the breakup degree of freedom.

A century ago, nuclear physics entered astrophysics, giving birth to a new field of science referred to as Nuclear Astrophysics. With time, it developed at an impressive pace into a vastly inter- and multidisciplinary discipline bringing into its wake not only astronomy and cosmology, but also many other sub-fields of physics, especially particle, solid-state and computational physics, as well as chemistry, geology and even biology. The present Astronuclear Physics review focusses primarily on the facets of nuclear physics that are of relevance to astronomy and astrophysics, the theoretical aspects being of special concern here.
The CHOOZ experiment measured the antineutrino flux at a distance of about 1 Km from two nuclear reactors in order to detect possible neutrino oscillations with squared mass differences as low as 10**-3 eV**2 for full mixing. We show that the data analysis of the electron antineutrino events, collected by our liquid scintillation detector, locates the antineutrino source within a cone of half-aperture of about 18 degrees at the 68% C.L.. We discuss the implications of this experimental result for tracking down a supernova explosion.

There is much speculation and a modest amount of evidence that certain mesons might form quasi-bound states with nuclei to produce really exotic states of matter. For this to be a practical possibility, the interaction between the meson and nucleons at low energies must be strong and attractive and the production rates healthy. The conditions for this are surveyed for the light mesons. How this might lead to quasi-bound states is then discussed in a few typical cases.
