Decentralized cryptocurrency systems, known as blockchains, have shown promise as infrastructure for mutually distrustful parties to agree on transactions safely. However, Bitcoin-derived blockchains and their variants suffer from the limitations of the CAP Trilemma, which is difficult to be solved through optimizing consensus protocols. Moreover, the P2P network of blockchains have problems in efficiency and reliability without considering the matching of physical and logical topologies. For the CAP Trilemma in consortium blockchains, we propose a physical topology based on the multi-dimensional hypercube with excellent partition tolerance in probability. On the other hand, the general hypercube has advantages in solving the mismatch problems in P2P networks. The general topology is further extended to a hierarchical recursive topology with more medium links or short links to balance the reliability requirements and the costs of physical network. We prove that the hypercube topology has better partition tolerance than the regular rooted tree topology and the ring lattice topology, and effectively fits the upper-layer protocols. As a result, blockchains constructed by the proposed topology can reach the CAP guarantee bound through adopting the proper transmission and the consensus protocols protocols that have strong consistency and availability.

To balance the load and to discourage the free-riding in peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, many incentive mechanisms and policies have been proposed in recent years. Global peer ranking is one such mechanism. In this mechanism, peers are ranked based on a metric called contribution index. Contribution index is defined in such a manner that peers are motivated to share the resources in the network. Fairness in the terms of upload to download ratio in each peer can be achieved by this method. However, calculation of contribution index is not trivial. It is computed distributively and iteratively in the entire network and requires strict clock synchronization among the peers. A very small error in clock synchronization may lead to wrong results. Furthermore, iterative calculation requires a lot of message overhead and storage capacity, which makes its implementation more complex. In this paper, we are proposing a simple incentive mechanism based on the contributions of peers, which can balance the upload and download amount of resources in each peer. It does not require iterative calculation, therefore, can be implemented with lesser message overhead and storage capacity without requiring strict clock synchronization. This approach is efficient as there are very less rejections among the cooperative peers. It can be implemented in a truly distributed fashion with $O(N)$ time complexity per peer.
The Network-on-Chips is a promising candidate for addressing communication bottlenecks in many-core processors and neural network processors. In this work, we consider the generalized fault-tolerance topology generation problem, where the link or switch failures can happen, for application-specific network-on-chips (ASNoC). With a user-defined number, K, we propose an integer linear programming (ILP) based method to generate ASNoC topologies, which can tolerate at most K faults in switches or links. Given the communication requirements between cores and their floorplan, we first propose a convex-cost-flow based method to solve a core mapping problem for building connections between the cores and switches. Second, an ILP based method is proposed to allocate K+1 switch-disjoint routing paths for every communication flow between the cores. Finally, to reduce switch sizes, we propose sharing the switch ports for the connections between the cores and switches and formulate the port sharing problem as a clique-partitioning problem Additionally, we propose an ILP-based method to simultaneously solve the core mapping and routing path allocation problems when considering physical link failures only. Experimental results show that the power consumptions of fault-tolerance topologies increase almost linearly with K because of the routing path redundancy. When both switch faults and link faults are considered, port sharing can reduce the average power consumption of fault-tolerance topologies with K = 1, K = 2 and K = 3 by 18.08%, 28.88%, and 34.20%, respectively. When considering only the physical link faults, the experimental results show that compared to the FTTG algorithm, the proposed method reduces power consumption and hop count by 10.58% and 6.25%, respectively; compared to the DBG based method, the proposed method reduces power consumption and hop count by 21.72% and 9.35%, respectively.

Given a large number of online services on the Internet, from time to time, people are still struggling to find out the services that they need. On the other hand, when there are considerable research and development on service discovery and service recommendation, most of the related work are centralized and thus suffers inherent shortages of the centralized systems, e.g., adv-driven, lack at trust, transparence and fairness. In this paper, we propose a ServiceNet - a peer-to-peer (P2P) service network for service discovery and service recommendation. ServiceNet is inspired by blockchain technology and aims at providing an open, transparent and self-growth, and self-management service ecosystem. The paper will present the basic idea, an architecture design of the prototype, and an initial implementation and performance evaluation the prototype design.
Some peers in the Bitcoin P2P network distributed a huge amount of spam IP addresses during July 2021. These spam IP addresses did not belong to actual Bitcoin peers. We found that the behavior of the spamming peers can be used to determine the number of neighbors of public peers and to find Sybil peers (peers that have multiple addresses). We evaluate the method by running an analysis based on data collected by our monitor nodes and compare the data to a ground-truth based on few peers that we run ourselves. The node degree of public peers is found with high precision and Sybil peers are correctly classified with very high precision and high recall if the spamming peers and the monitor are connected to all Sybil addresses.
In 2015, the IEEE 802.15.4 standard was expanded by the Deterministic and Synchronous Multi-Channel Extension (DSME) to increase reliability, scalability and energy-efficiency in industrial applications. The extension offers a TDMA/FDMA-based channel access, where time is divided into two alternating phases, a contention access period (CAP) and a contention free period (CFP). During the CAP, transmission slots can be allocated offering an exclusive access to the shared medium during the CFP. The fraction $tau$ of CFPs time slots in a dataframe is a critical value, because it directly influences agility and throughput. A high throughput demands that the CFP is much longer than the CAP, i.e., a high value of the fraction $tau$, because application data is only sent during the CFP. High agility is given if the expected waiting time to send a CAP message is short and that the length of the CAPs are sufficiently long to accommodate necessary (de)allocations of GTSs, i.e., a low value of the fraction $tau$. Once DSME is configured according to the needs of an application, the fraction $tau$ can only assume one of two values and cannot be changed at run-time. In this paper, we propose two extensions of DSME that allow to adopt $tau$ to the current traffic pattern. We show theoretically and through simulations that the proposed extensions provide a high degree of responsiveness to traffic fluctuations while keeping the throughput high.
