The Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani mechanism is extremely efficient to suppress the flavour-changing neutral current decays of charmed hadrons induced by the $c to u$ transitions, making such processes particularly sensitive to phenomena beyond the Standard Model. In particular, $c to u$ decays with a neutrino pair in the final state are theoretically appealing due to the small long-distance contributions. Moreover, in the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), the $SU(2)_L$ invariance allows to relate the Wilson coefficients in the effective Hamiltonian governing the $c to u u {bar u}$ decays to the coefficients in the $c to u ell^+ ell^-$ Hamiltonian. We analyze the $B_c to B^{(*)+} u {bar u}$ decays, for which branching fractions of at most ${cal O}(10^{-16})$ are predicted in the Standard Model including short- and long-distance contributions, so small that they can be considered as null tests. Using SMEFT and the relation to the $c to u ell^+ ell^-$ processes we study the largest enhancement achievable in generic new physics scenarios. Then we focus on a particular extension of the Standard Model, the 331 model. SMEFT relations and the connection with $c to u ell^+ ell^-$ imply that ${cal B}(B_c to B^{(*)+} u {bar u})$ could even reach ${cal O}(10^{-6})$, an extremely large enhancement. A less pronounced effect is found in the 331 model, with ${cal O}(10^{-11})$ predicted branching fractions. Within the 331 model correlations exist among the $B_c to B^{(*)+} u bar u$ and $Kto pi u bar u$, $Bto (X_s, K, K^*) u bar u$ channels.

We revisit the experimental and theoretical status of $B to rho l bar{ u}$ and $B to omega l bar{ u}$ decays. We perform a combined fit of averaged spectra from Belle and Babar measurements with prior light cone sum rule calculations, in order to obtain more precise predictions over the full $q^2$ range. The extracted values of $|V_{ub}|$ from these combined fits exhibit smaller uncertainty compared to previous extractions from $B to rho l bar{ u}$ and $B to omega l bar{ u}$ decays and the central values are found to be smaller than values extracted from $B to pi l u$ or inclusive measurements. We use our fit results to obtain more precise predictions in and beyond the Standard Model for the lepton universality ratios $R(rho)$ and $R(omega)$, as well as several angular observables that are sensitive to the full $q^2$ distribution, such as the longitudinal polarization of the vector meson, the $tau$ polarization, and its forward-backward asymmetry.
The mass and coupling of the scalar tetraquark $T_{bb;overline{u}overline{d }}^{-}$ (hereafter $T_{b:overline{d}}^{-} $) are calculated in the context of the QCD two-point sum rule method. In computations we take into account effects of various quark, gluon and mixed condensates up to dimension ten. The result obtained for the mass of this state $m=(10135pm 240)~mathrm{MeV} $ demonstrates that it is stable against the strong and electromagnetic decays. We also explore the dominant semileptonic $T_{b:overline{d}}^{-} to widetilde{Z}_{bc;bar{u}bar{d}}^{0}loverline{ u }_{l}$ and nonleptonic decays $T_{b:overline{d}}^{-} to widetilde{Z}_{bc;bar{u}bar{ d}}^{0}M$, where $widetilde{Z}_{bc;bar{u}bar{d}}^{0}$ is the scalar tetraquark composed of color-sextet diquark and antidiquark, and $M$ is one of the final-state pseudoscalar mesons $pi^{-}, K^{-}, D^{-}$ and $D_s^{-}$ , respectively. The partial widths of these processes are calculated in terms of the weak form factors $G_{1(2)}(q^2)$, which are determined from the QCD three-point sum rules. Predictions for the mass, full width $Gamma _{mathrm{full}} =(10.88pm 1.88)times 10^{-10}~mathrm{MeV}$, and mean lifetime $tau=0.61_{-0.09}^{+0.13}~mathrm{ps}$ of the $T_{b:overline{d} }^{-}$ obtained in the present work can be used in theoretical and experimental studies of this exotic state.
The spectroscopic parameters and decay channels of the scalar tetraquark $ T_{bb;overline{u}overline{s}}^{-}$ (in what follows $T_{b:overline{s} }^{-} $) are investigated. The mass and coupling of the $T_{b:s}^{-}$ are calculated using the two-point sum rules by taking into account quark, gluon and mixed vacuum condensates up to dimension 10. Our result for its mass $m=(10250 pm 270)~mathrm{MeV}$ demonstrates that $T_{b:overline{s}}^{-} $ is stable against the strong and electromagnetic decays. Therefore to find the width and mean lifetime of the $T_{b:overline{s}}^{-}$, we explore its dominant weak decays generated by the transition $b to W^{-}c$. These channels embrace the semileptonic decay $T_{b:overline{s}}^{-} to Z_{bc;overline{u}overline{s}}^{0}loverline{ u }_{l}$ and nonleptonic modes $T_{b:overline{s}}^{-} to Z_{bc;overline{ u}overline{s}}^{0}pi^{-}(K^{-}, D^{-}, D_s^{-})$, which at the final state contain the scalar tetraquark $Z_{bc;overline{u}overline{s}}^{0}$. Key quantities to compute partial widths of the weak decays are the form factors $G_1(q^2)$ and $G_2(q^2)$: they determine differential rate $dGamma/dq^2$ of the semileptonic and partial widths of the nonleptonic processes, respectively. These form factors are extracted from relevant three-point sum rules at momentum transfers $q^2$ accessible for such analysis. By means of the fit functions $F_{1(2)}(q^2)$ they are extrapolated to cover the whole integration region $m_l^{2}leq q2leq(m-widetilde m)^2$, where $widetilde m$ is the mass of $Z_{bc;overline{u}overline{s}}^{0}$. Predictions for the full width $Gamma _{mathrm{full}}=(15.21pm 2.59)times 10^{-10}~mathrm{ MeV}$ and mean lifetime $4.33_{-0.63}^{+0.89}times 10^{-13}~mathrm{s}$ of the $T_{b:s}^{-} $ are useful for experimental and theoretical investigations of this exotic meson.
We analyze in detail the angular distributions in $bar{B}to D^*ell bar u$ decays, with a focus on lepton-flavour non-universality. We investigate the minimal number of angular observables that fully describes current and upcoming datasets, and explore their sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) in the most general weak effective theory. We apply our findings to the current datasets, extract the non-redundant set of angular observables from the data, and compare to precise SM predictions that include lepton-flavour universality violating mass effects. Our analysis shows that the current presentation of the experimental data is not ideal and prohibits the extraction of the full set of relevant BSM parameters, since the number of independent angular observables that can be inferred from data is limited to only four. We uncover a $sim4sigma$ tension between data and predictions that is hidden in the redundant presentation of the Belle 2018 data on $bar{B}to D^*ell bar u$ decays. This tension specifically involves observables that probe $e-mu$ lepton-flavour universality. However, we find inconsistencies in these data, which renders results based on it suspicious. Nevertheless, we discuss which generic BSM scenarios could explain the tension, in the case that the inconsistencies do not affect the data materially. Our findings highlight that $e-mu$ non-universality in the SM, introduced by the finite muon mass, is already significant in a subset of angular observables with respect to the experimental precision.
We comprehensively study the charged-Higgs contributions to the leptonic $B^-_q to ell bar u$ ($q=u,c$) and semileptonic $bar B to X_q ell bar u$ ($X_u=pi, rho; X_c=D,D^*$) decays in the type-III two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM). We employ the Cheng-Sher ansatz to suppress the tree-level flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) in the quark sector. When the strict constraints from the $Delta B=2$ and $bto s gamma$ processes are considered, parameters $chi^u_{tq}$ from the quark couplings and $chi^ell_ell$ from the lepton couplings dictate the leptonic and semileptonic $B$ decays. It is found that when the measured $B^-_uto tau bar u$ and indirect bound of $B^-_c to tau bar u$ obtained by LEP1 data are taken into account, $R(D)$ and $R(pi)$ can have broadly allowed ranges; however, the values of $R(rho)$ and $R(D^*)$ are limited to approximately the standard model (SM) results. We also find that the same behaviors also occur in the $tau$-lepton polarizations and forward-backward asymmetries ($A^{X_q,tau}_{FB}$) of the semileptonic decays, with the exception of $A^{D^*,tau}_{FB}$, for which the deviation from the SM due to the charged-Higgs effect is still sizable. In addition, the $q^2$-dependent $A^{pi,tau}_{FB}$ and $A^{D,tau}_{FB}$ can be very sensitive to the charged-Higgs effects and have completely different shapes from the SM.
