Inspired by the evidence of the odderon exchange recently observed by the D0 and TOTEM Collaborations, a QCD sum rule investigation is performed to study the odderon as a three-gluon bound state. There may exist six lowest-lying three-gluon odderons with the quantum numbers $J^{PC} = 1/2/3^{pm-}$. We systematically construct their interpolating currents, and calculate their mass spectra. To verify their existence, we propose to search for the spin-3 odderons in their $VVV$ and $VVP$ decay channels directly at LHC, with $V$ and $P$ light vector and pseudoscalar mesons respectively.
In a recent measurement LHCb reported pronounced structures in the $J/psi J/psi$ spectrum. One of the various possible explanations of those is that they emerge from non-perturbative interactions of vector charmonia. It is thus important to understand whether it is possible to form a bound state of two charmonia interacting through the exchange of gluons, which hadronise into two pions at the longest distance. In this paper, we demonstrate that, given our current understanding of hadron-hadron interactions, the exchange of correlated light mesons (pions and kaons) is able to provide sizeable attraction to the di-$J/psi$ system, and it is possible for two $J/psi$ mesons to form a bound state. As a side result we find from an analysis of the data for the $psi(2S)to J/psi pipi$ transition including both $pipi$ and $Kbar K$ final state interactions an improved value for the $psi(2S)to J/psi$ transition chromo-electric polarisability: $|alpha_{psi(2S)J/psi}|= (1.8pm 0.1)~mbox{GeV}^{-3}$, where the uncertainty also includes the one induced by the final state interactions.
We study two- and three-gluon glueballs of $C=+$ using the method of QCD sum rules. We systematically construct their interpolating currents, and find that all the spin-1 currents of $C=+$ vanish. This suggests that the ground-state spin-1 glueballs of $C=+$ do not exist within the relativistic framework. We calculate masses of the two-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{pm+}/2^{pm+}$ and the three-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{pm+}/2^{pm+}$. We propose to search for the $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}/2^{-pm}/3^{pm-}$ three-gluon glueballs in their three-meson decay channels in future BESIII, GlueX, LHC, and PANDA experiments.
Motivated by the recent discovery of the first hidden charm pentaquark state with strangeness $P_{cs}(4459)$ by the LHCb Collaboration, we study the likely existence of a three-body $Sigma_{c}bar{D}bar{K}$ bound state, which shares the same minimal quark content as $P_{cs}(4459)$. The $Sigma_{c}bar{D}$ and $DK$ interactions are determined by reproducing $P_c(4312)$ and $D_{s0}^*(2317)$ as $Sigma_cbar{D}$ and $bar{D}bar{K}$ molecules, respectively, while the $Sigma_cbar{K}$ interaction is constrained by chiral effective theory. We indeed find a three-body bound state by solving the Schrodinger equation using the Gaussian Expansion Method, which can be viewed as an excited hidden charm pentaquark state with strangeness, $P_{cs}^*(4739)$, with $I(J^P)=1(1/2^+)$ and a binding energy of $77.8^{+25}_{-10.3}$ MeV. We further study its strong decays via triangle diagrams and show that its partial decay widths into $DXi_c$ and $D_s^*Sigma_c$ are of a few tens MeV, with the former being dominant.
The TOTEM experiment at the LHC has performed the first measurement at $sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV of the $rho$ parameter, the real to imaginary ratio of the nuclear elastic scattering amplitude at $t=0$, obtaining the following results: $rho = 0.09 pm 0.01$ and $rho = 0.10 pm 0.01$, depending on different physics assumptions and mathematical modelling. The unprecedented precision of the $rho$ measurement, combined with the TOTEM total cross-section measurements in an energy range larger than 10 TeV (from 2.76 to 13 TeV), has implied the exclusion of all the models classified and published by COMPETE. The $rho$ results obtained by TOTEM are compatible with the predictions, from alternative theoretical models both in the Regge-like framework and in the QCD framework, of a colourless 3-gluon bound state exchange in the $t$-channel of the proton-proton elastic scattering. On the contrary, if shown that the 3-gluon bound state $t$-channel exchange is not of importance for the description of elastic scattering, the $rho$ value determined by TOTEM would represent a first evidence of a slowing down of the total cross-section growth at higher energies. The very low-$|t|$ reach allowed also to determine the absolute normalisation using the Coulomb amplitude for the first time at the LHC and obtain a new total proton-proton cross-section measurement $sigma_{tot} = 110.3 pm 3.5$ mb, completely independent from the previous TOTEM determination. Combining the two TOTEM results yields $sigma_{tot} = 110.5 pm 2.4$ mb.
We define a regularization-independent momentum-subtraction scheme for the $CP$-odd three-gluon operator at dimension six. This operator appears in effective field theories for heavy physics beyond the Standard Model, describing the indirect effect of new sources of $CP$-violation at low energies. In a hadronic context, it induces permanent electric dipole moments. The hadronic matrix elements of the three-gluon operator are non-perturbative objects that should ideally be evaluated with lattice QCD. We define a non-perturbative renormalization scheme that can be implemented on the lattice and we compute the scheme transformation to $overline{text{MS}}$ at one loop. Our calculation can be used as an interface to future lattice-QCD calculations of the matrix elements of the three-gluon operator, in order to obtain theoretically robust constraints on physics beyond the Standard Model from measurements of the neutron electric dipole moment.
