The effects of high-temperature, dense systems, and strong magnetic fields on Quantum Chromodynamics related phenomena are studied in different perspectives: in the high-temperature and densities, the QCD-phase diagram from the Linear Sigma Model point of view is computed. In particular, the CEP location and transition lines for chiral restoration were found. In the intense magnetic fields and high-gluon density, the gluon fusion and gluon splitting channels are proposed as new photon production sources to better explain the experimental data in the so-called photon puzzle. Finally, the thermal and magnetic screening properties for gluons encoded into the polarization tensor were addressed in terms of the Debye mass.

These are lecture notes, which summarize the current status of the Semiclassical theory, as well as Monopoles, Instantons, Instanton-dyons and Flux tubes. The emphasis is on QCD and QCD-like theories (deformed QCD), although relevant points derived in Supersymmetric theories are also covered. While the actual lectures on which the notes are based were delivered in the fall 2018, the text evolved over the years and summarizes about 4 decades of development. One recent point added is the so called Poisson duality between monopoles and instanton-dyon approaches. It is made in a book format, with extensive list of references. Large size of the text have lead to many imperfections, which I hope to correct in futu

Radiative and non-radiative electron spin flip probabilities are analysed in both plane wave and focussed laser backgrounds. We provide a simple and physically transparent description of spin dynamics in plane waves, and demonstrate that there exists a kinematic regime in which the usual leading order perturbative hierarchy of QED is reversed, and non-radiative loop effects dominate over radiative tree-level spin-flips. We show that while this loop-dominance becomes suppressed in focussed laser pulses due to a high sensitivity to field geometry, there is nevertheless a regime in which, in principle, loop effects on spin transitions can be discerned.
We study the influence of external electric, $E$, and magnetic, $B$, fields parallel to each other, and of a chiral chemical potential, $mu_5$, on the chiral phase transition of Quantum Chromodynamics. Our theoretical framework is a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with a contact interaction. Within this model we compute the critical temperature of chiral symmetry restoration, $T_c$, as a function of the chiral chemical potential and field strengths. We find that the fields inhibit and $mu_5$ enhances chiral symmetry breaking, in agreement with previous studies.
The chemical potential ($mu$) dependence of the topological susceptibility with two-color two-flavor QCD is studied. We find that at temperature $T approx T_c /2$, where $T_c$ denotes the critical temperature at zero chemical potential, the topological susceptibility is almost constant throughout $0 leq amu lesssim 1.0$, while at $Tapprox T_c$, it decreases significantly from the $mu=0$ value in a high $mu$ regime. In this work, we perform the simulation for $mu/T le 16$, which covers even the low temperature and the high chemical potential regime. In this regime, we introduce a diquark source term, which is characterized by $j$, into the action. We also show our results for the phase diagram in a low temperature regime ($Tapprox T_c/2$), which is obtained after taking the $j to 0$ limit of the diquark condensate and the Polyakov loop.
The interaction of charged particles and photons with intense electromagnetic fields gives rise to multi-photon Compton and Breit-Wheeler processes. These are usually described in the framework of the external field approximation, where the electromagnetic field is assumed to have infinite energy. However, the multi-photon nature of these processes implies the absorption of a significant number of photons, which scales as the external field amplitude cubed. As a result, the interaction of a highly charged electron bunch with an intense laser pulse can lead to significant depletion of the laser pulse energy, thus rendering the external field approximation invalid. We provide relevant estimates for this depletion and find it to become important in the interaction between fields of amplitude $a_0 sim 10^3$ and electron bunches with charges of the order of 10 nC.
