The cross sections for ({gamma},xn) reactions at 30 MeV and 40 MeV bremsstrahlung end-point energies on natural rhenium (natRe) targets have been measured by the activation and the off-line {gamma}-ray spectrometric techniques using a High Purity Germanium detector (HPGe). The measured natRe({gamma},xn) reaction cross sections were compared to the theoretically calculated cross sections using TALYS 1.9 and EMPIRE 3.2 computer codes. The measurements allowed the determination of the Isomeric Cross section Ratios (ICR) for the 184m,g Re and 182m,gRe isomeric pairs. In addition, we have determined a semi-empirical value for the 186m,gRe isomeric pair. These results for the 30 MeV and 40 MeV end-point bremsstrahlung energies are obtained for the first time.

Background: Neutron-induced backgrounds are a significant concern for experiments that require extremely low levels of radioactive backgrounds such as direct dark matter searches and neutrinoless double-beta decay experiments. Unmeasured neutron scattering cross sections are often accounted for incorrectly in Monte Carlo simulations. Purpose: Determine partial gamma-ray production cross sections for (n,xng) reactions in natural argon for incident neutron energies between 1 and 30 MeV. Methods: The broad spectrum neutron beam at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) was used used for the measurement. Neutron energies were determined using time-of-flight and resulting gamma rays from neutron-induced reactions were detected using the GErmanium Array for Neutron Induced Excitations (GEANIE). Results: Partial gamma-ray cross sections were measured for six excited states in Ar-40 and two excited states in Ar-39. Measured (n,xng) cross sections were compared to the TALYS and CoH3 nuclear reaction codes. Conclusions: These new measurements will help to identify potential backgrounds in neutrinoless double-beta decay and dark matter experiments that use argon as a detection medium or shielding. The measurements will also aid in the identification of neutron interactions in these experiments through the detection of gamma rays produced by (n,xng) reactions.

Differential cross sections for deuteron breakup $^{1}H(d, pp)n$ reaction were measured for a large set of 243 geometrical configurations at the beam energy of 80 MeV/nucleon. The cross section data are normalized by the luminosity factor obtained on the basis of simultaneous measurement of elastic scattering channel and the existing cross section data for this process. The results are compared to the theoretical calculations modeling nuclear interaction with and without taking into account the three-nucleon force (3NF) and Coulomb interaction. In the validated region of the phase space both the Coulomb force and 3NF play an important role in a good description of the data. There are also regions, where the improvements of description due to including 3NF are not sufficient.

Excitation functions were measured for the $^{55}$Mn(n,2n)$^{54}$Mn, $^{55}$Mn(n,$alpha$)$^{52}$V, $^{63}$Cu(n,$alpha$)$^{60}$Co, $^{65}$Cu(n,2n)$^{64}$Cu, and $^{65}$Cu(n,p)$^{65}$Ni reactions from 13.47 to 14.83 MeV. The experimental cross sections are compared with the results of calculations including all activation channels for the stable isotopes of Mn and Cu, for neutron incident energies up to 50 MeV. Within the energy range up to 20 MeV the model calculations are most sensitive to the parameters related to nuclei in the early stages of the reaction, while the model assumptions are better established by analysis of the data in the energy range 20-40 MeV. While the present analysis has taken advantage of both a new set of accurate measured cross sections around 14 MeV and the larger data basis fortunately available between 20 and 40 MeV for the Mn and Cu isotopes, the need of additional measurements below as well as above 40 MeV is pointed out. Gamma-ray excitation functions have been measured for 30, 42, 54 and 66 MeV proton beams accelerated onto C + O (Mylar), Mg, Si, and Fe targets of astrophysical interest at the separate-sector cyclotron of iThemba LABS in Somerset West (Cape Town, South Africa). A large solid angle, high energy resolution detection system of the Eurogam type was used to record Gamma-ray energy spectra. Derived preliminary results of Gamma-ray line production cross sections for the Mg, Si and Fe target nuclei are reported and discussed. The current cross section data for known, intense Gamma-ray lines from these nuclei consistently extend to higher proton energies previous experimental data measured up to Ep ~ 25 MeV at the Orsay and Washington tandem accelerators. Data for new Gamma-ray lines observed for the first time in this work are also reported.

The cross-sections and analyzing powers for $(p,n)$ reactions on ${}^{3}{rm He}$ and ${}^{4}{rm He}$ have been measured at a bombarding energy of $T_p$ = 346 MeV and reaction angles of $theta_{rm lab}$ = $9.4^{circ}$--$27^{circ}$. The energy transfer spectra for ${}^{3}{rm He}(p,n)$ at large $theta_{rm lab}$ ($ge$ $16^{circ}$) are dominated by quasielastic contributions, and can be reasonably reproduced by plane-wave impulse approximation (PWIA) calculations for quasielastic scattering. By contrast, the known $L$ = 1 resonances in ${}^{4}{rm Li}$ are clearly observed near the threshold in the ${}^{4}{rm He}(p,n)$ spectra. Because these contributions are remarkable at small angles, the energy spectra are significantly different from those expected for quasielastic scattering. The data are compared with the PWIA calculations, and it is found that the quasielastic contributions are dominant at large $theta_{rm lab}$ ($ge$ $22^{circ}$). The nuclear correlation effects on the quasielastic peak for ${}^{4}{rm He}(p,n)$ are also discussed.
