Using the theory of totally real number fields we construct a new class of compact complex non-K{a}hler manifolds in every even complex dimension and study their analytic and geometric properties.
This article investigates the subject of rigid compact complex manifolds. First of all we investigate the different notions of rigidity (local rigidity, global rigidity, infinitesimal rigidity, etale rigidity and strong rigidity) and the relations among them. Only for curves these notions coincide and the only rigid curve is the projective line. For surfaces we prove that a rigid surface which is not minimal of general type is either a Del Pezzo surface of degree >= 5 or an Inoue surface. We give examples of rigid manifolds of dimension n >= 3 and Kodaira dimensions 0, and 2 <=k <= n. Our main theorem is that the Hirzebruch Kummer coverings of exponent n >= 4 branched on a complete quadrangle are infinitesimally rigid. Moreover, we pose a number of questions.
Let $(X,omega)$ be a compact K{a}hler manifold with a K{a}hler form $omega$ of complex dimension $n$, and $Vsubset X$ is a compact complex submanifold of positive dimension $k<n$. Suppose that $V$ can be embedded in $X$ as a zero section of a holomorphic vector bundle or rank $n-k$ over $V$. Let $varphi$ be a strictly $omega|_V$-psh function on $V$. In this paper, we prove that there is a strictly $omega$-psh function $Phi$ on $X$, such that $Phi|_V=varphi$. This result gives a partial answer to an open problem raised by Collins-Tosatti and Dinew-Guedj-Zeriahi, for the case of K{a}hler currents. We also discuss possible extensions of Kahler currents in a big class.
A totally real theta characteristic of a real curve is a theta characteristic which is linearly equivalent to a sum of only real points. These are closely related to the facets of the convex hull of the canonical embedding of the curve.
We prove that a complete noncompact K{a}hler manifold $M^{n}$of positive bisectional curvature satisfying suitable growth conditions is biholomorphic to a pseudoconvex domain of {bf C}$^{n}$ and we show that the manifold is topologically {bf R}$^{2n}$. In particular, when $M^{n}$ is a K{a}hler surface of positive bisectional curvature satisfying certain natural geometric growth conditions, it is biholomorphic to {bf C}$^{2}$.
We show that, for a closed orientable n-manifold, with n not congruent to 3 modulo 4, the existence of a CR-regular embedding into complex (n-1)-space ensures the existence of a totally real embedding into complex n-space. This implies that a closed orientable (4k+1)-manifold with non-vanishing Kervaire semi-characteristic possesses no CR-regular embedding into complex 4k-space. We also pay special attention to the cases of CR-regular embeddings of spheres and of simply-connected 5-manifolds.
