In this work, we continue our study of string theory in the background that interpolates between $AdS_3$ in the IR to flat spacetime with a linear dilaton in the UV. The boundary dual theory interpolates between a CFT$_2$ in the IR to a certain two-dimensional Little String Theory (LST) in the UV. In particular, we study emph{computational complexity} of such a theory through the lens of holography and investigate the signature of non-locality in the short distance behavior of complexity. When the cutoff UV scale is much smaller than the non-locality (Hagedorn) scale, we find exotic quadratic and logarithmic divergences (for both volume and action complexity) which are not expected in a local quantum field theory. We also generalize our computation to include the effects of finite temperature. Up to second order in finite temperature correction, we do not any find newer exotic UV-divergences compared to the zero temperature case.

It was recently shown that the theory obtained by deforming a general two dimensional conformal theory by the irrelevant operator $Tbar T$ is solvable. In the context of holography, a large class of such theories can be obtained by studying string theory on $AdS_3$. We show that a certain $Tbar T$ deformation of the boundary $CFT_2$ gives rise in the bulk to string theory in a background that interpolates between $AdS_3$ in the IR and a linear dilaton spacetime in the UV, i.e. to a two dimensional vacuum of Little String Theory. This construction provides holographic duals for a large class of vacua of string theory in asymptotically linear dilaton spacetimes, and sheds light on the UV behavior of $Tbar T$ deformed $CFT_2$. It may provide a step towards holography in flat spacetime.
String theory on AdS$_3$ with NS-NS fluxes admits a solvable irrelevant deformation which is close to the $Tbar{T}$ deformation of the dual CFT$_2$. This consists of deforming the worldsheet action, namely the action of the $SL(2,mathbb{R})$ WZW model, by adding to it the operator $J^-bar{J}^-$, constructed with two Kac-Moody currents. The geometrical interpretation of the resulting theory is that of strings on a conformally flat background that interpolates between AdS$_3$ in the IR and a flat linear dilaton spacetime with Hagedorn spectrum in the UV, having passed through a transition region of positive curvature. Here, we study the properties of this string background both from the point of view of the low-energy effective theory and of the worldsheet CFT. We first study the geometrical properties of the semiclassical geometry, then we revise the computation of correlation functions and of the spectrum of the $J^-bar{J}^-$-deformed worldsheet theory, and finally we discuss how to extend this type of current-current deformation to other conformal models.
We consider a gravitational perturbation of the Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity with an arbitrary dilaton potential and study the condition under which the quadratic action can be seen as a $Tbar{T}$-deformation of the matter action. As a special case, the flat-space JT gravity discussed by Dubovsky et al[arXiv:1706.06604 ] is included. Another interesting example is a hyperbolic dilaton potential. This case is equivalent to a classical Liouville gravity with a negative cosmological constant and then a finite $Tbar{T}$-deformation of the matter action is realized as a gravitational perturbation on AdS$_2$.
We study holographic subregion complexity, and its possible connection to purification complexity suggested recently by Agon et al. In particular, we study the conjecture that subregion complexity is the purification complexity by considering holographic purifications of a holographic mixed state. We argue that these include states with any amount of coarse-graining consistent with being a purification of the mixed state in question, corresponding holographically to different choices of the cutoff surface. We find that within the complexity = volume and complexity = spacetime volume conjectures, the subregion complexity is equal to the holographic purification complexity. For complexity = action, the subregion complexity seems to provide an upper bound on the holographic purification complexity, though we show cases where this bound is not saturated. One such example is provided by black holes with a large genus behind the horizon, which were studied by Fu et al. As such, one must conclude that these offending geometries are not holographic, that CA must be modified, or else that holographic subregion complexity in CA is not dual to the purification complexity of the corresponding reduced state.
We study the holographic complexity conjectures for rotating black holes, uncovering a relationship between the complexity of formation and the thermodynamic volume of the black hole. We suggest that it is the thermodynamic volume and not the entropy that controls the complexity of formation of large black holes in both the Complexity Equals Action and Complexity Equals Volume proposals in general. Our proposal reduces to known results involving the entropy in settings where the thermodynamic volume and entropy are not independent, but has broader scope. Assuming a conjectured inequality is obeyed by the thermodynamic volume, we establish that the complexity of formation is bounded from below by the entropy for large black holes.
