Motivated by the recently reported excess of electron recoil events by the XENON1T experiment, we propose low scale seesaw scenarios for light neutrino masses within $U(1)_X$ gauge extension of the standard model that also predicts stable as well as long lived dark sector particles. The new fields necessary for seesaw realisation as well as dark matter are charged under the $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry in an anomaly free way. A singlet scalar field which effectively gives rise to lepton number violation and hence Majorana light neutrino masses either at tree or radiative level, also splits the dark matter field into two quasi-degenerate states. While sub-eV neutrino mass and non-zero dark matter mass splitting are related in this way, the phenomenology of sub-GeV scale inelastic dark matter can be very rich if the mass splitting is of keV scale. We show that for suitable parameter space, both the components with keV splitting can contribute to total dark matter density of the present universe, while opening up the possibility of the heavier dark matter candidate to undergo down-scattering with electrons. We check the parameter space of the model for both fermion and scalar inelastic dark matter candidates which can give rise to the XENON1T excess while being consistent with other phenomenological bounds. We also discuss the general scenario where mass splitting~$Delta m$ between the two dark matter components can be larger, effectively giving rise to a single component dark matter scenario.

The explorations of alternative dark matter (DM) candidates beyond WIMP motivated primordial black holes (PBHs) or sub-GeV DM particle in the Milky Way. Neutrinos from PBH evaporation at the present times play as a novel medium boosting sub-GeV DM and leaving signatures in the terrestrial experiments. We explore the boosted DM by the neutrino flux from PBH evaporation (PBH$ u$BDM) so as to connect the macroscopic PBHs to sub-GeV DM particle. We consider this PBH$ u$BDM scenario to interpret the XENON1T keV excess. The projected bounds on the sub-GeV DM-electron scattering cross section and the fraction of DM composed of PBHs $f_{rm PBH}$ are imposed for future experiments.
We study a generic leptophilic $U(1)_X$ extension of the standard model with a light gauge boson. The $U(1)_X$ charge assignments for the leptons are guided by lepton universality violating (LUV) observables in semileptonic $b to sellell$ decays, muon anomalous magnetic moment and the origin of leptonic masses and mixing. Anomaly cancellation conditions require the addition of new chiral fermions in the model, one of which acts as a dark matter (DM) candidate when it is stabilised by an additional $mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry. From our analysis, we show two different possible models with similar particle content that lead to quite contrasting neutrino mass origin and other phenomenology. The proposed models also have the potential to address the anomalous results in $bto cell u_{ell}$ decays like $R(D), R(D^*)$, electron anomalous magnetic moment and the very recent KOTO anomaly in the kaon sector. We also discuss different possible collider signatures of our models which can be tested in future.

Following a previous proposal, lepton number is considered as the result of a spontaneously broken non-Abelian gauge $SU(2)_N$ symmetry. New fermions are added to support this new symmetry, the spontaneous breaking of which allows these new fermions to be part of the dark sector, together with the vector gauge boson which communicates between them and the usual leptons. A byproduct is a potential significant contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
We study $S_{4}$ flavor symmetric inverse seesaw model which has the possibility of simultaneously addressing neutrino phenomenology, dark matter (DM) and baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU) through leptogenesis. The model is the extension of the standard model by the addition of two right handed neutrinos and three sterile fermions leading to a keV scale sterile neutrino dark matter and two pairs of quasi-Dirac states. The CP violating decay of the lightest quasi- Dirac pair present in the model generates lepton asymmetry which then converts to baryon asymmetry of the universe. Thus this model can provide a simultaneous solution for non zero neutrino mass, dark matter content of the universes and the observed baryon asymmetry. The $S_{4}$ flavor symmetry in this model is augmented by additional $Z_{4}times Z_{3}$ symmetry to constrain the Yukawa Lagrangian. A detailed numerical analysis has been carried out to obtain dark matter mass, DM-active mixing as well as BAU both for normal hierarchy as well as inverted hierarchy. We have tried to correlate the two cosmological observables and found a common parameter space satisfying the DM phenomenology and BAU. The parameter space of the model is further constrained from the latest cosmological bounds on the above mentioned observables.
We discuss the possibility to find an upper bound on the seesaw scale using the cosmological bound on the cold dark matter relic density. We investigate a simple relation between the origin of neutrino masses and the properties of a dark matter candidate in a simple theory where the new symmetry breaking scale defines the seesaw scale. Imposing the cosmological bounds, we find an upper bound of order multi-TeV on the lepton number violation scale. We investigate the predictions for direct and indirect detection dark matter experiments, and the possible signatures at the Large Hadron Collider.
