To obtain the equation of state of quark matter and construct hybrid stars, we calculate the thermodynamic potential in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model including the tensor-type four-point interaction and the Kobayashi-Maskawa-t Hooft interaction. To construct the hybrid stars, it is necessary to impose the beta-equilibrium and charge neutrality conditions on the system. It is shown that tensor condensed phases appear at large chemical potential. Under the possibility of the existence of the tensor condensates, the relationship between the radius and mass of hybrid stars is estimated.

In order to obtain the equation of state and construct hybrid stars, we calculate the thermodynamic potential in the two-flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with tensor-type four-point interaction between quarks. In addition, we impose the beta equilibrium and charge neutrality conditions on the system. We show that the tensor condensate appears at large chemical potential, however, it is difficult to hold hybrid stars with two-solar mass by using the equation of state with the tensor interaction. Although we cannot obtain the stars with two-solar mass because of the absense of the repulsive interaction, the estimated magnetic moment density is very large. Therefore, we expect that the tensor interaction descrobes the magnetic fields of compact stars.
The possible formation of tensor condensates originated from a tensor-type interaction between quarks is investigated in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model including the Kobayashi-Maskawa-t Hooft interaction, which leads to flavor mixing. It is shown that independent two tensor condensates appear and a tensor condensate related to the strange quark easily occurs by the effect of the flavor mixing compared with one related to light quarks. Also, it is shown that the tensor condensate related to the strange quark appears at a slightly smaller chemical potential if the Kobayashi-Maskawa-t Hooft interaction is included, due to the flavor mixing effect. It is also shown that the two kinds of tensor condensates may coexist in a certain quark chemical potential due to the flavor mixing.

We solve a nonlocal generalisation of the NJL model in the Hartree approximation. This model has a separable interaction, as suggested by instanton models of the QCD vacuum. The choice of form factor in this interaction is motivated by the confining nature of the vacuum. A conserved axial current is constructed in the chiral limit of the model and the pion properties are shown to satisfy the Gell-Mann--Oakes--Renner relation. For reasonable values of the parameters the model exhibits quark confinement.

We study how the charge neutrality affects the phase structure of three-flavor PNJL model. We point out that, within the conventional PNJL model at finite density the color neutrality is missing because the Wilson line serves as an external ``colored field coupled to dynamical quarks. In this paper we heuristically assume that the model may still be applicable. To get color neutrality one has then to allow non vanishing color chemical potentials. We study how the quark matter phase diagram in $(T,m_s^2/mu)$-plane is affected by imposing neutrality and by including the Polyakov loop dynamics. Although these two effects are correlated in a nonlinear way, the impact of the Polyakov loop turns out to be significant in the $T$ direction, while imposing neutrality brings a remarkable effect in the $m_s^2/mu$ direction. In particular, we find a novel unlocking transition, when the temperature is increased, even in the chiral SU(3) limit. We clarify how and why this is possible once the dynamics of the colored Polyakov loop is taken into account. Also we succeed in giving an analytic expression for $T_c$ for the transition from two-flavor pairing (2SC) to unpaired quark matter in the presence of the Polyakov loop.
Dilepton production from hot, dense and magnetized quark matter is studied using the three-flavor Polyakov loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model in which the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks is also taken into consideration. This is done by first evaluating the thermo-magnetic spectral function of the vector current correlator employing the real time formalism of finite temperature field theory and the Schwinger proper time formalism. The constituent quark mass which goes as an input in the expression of the dilepton production rate (DPR), has been calculated using the three-flavor PNJL model employing Pauli-Villiars (PV) regularization. The obtained constituent quark mass being strongly dependent on the temperature, density, magnetic field and AMM of the quarks, captures the effect of `strong interactions specifically around the (pseudo) chiral and confinement-deconfinement phase transition regions. The analytic structure of the spectral function in the complex energy plane has been analyzed in detail and a non-trivial Landau cut is found in the physical kinematic domains resulting from the scattering of the Landau quantized quark/antiquark with the photon which is purely a finite magnetic field effect. Due to the emergence of the Landau cut along with the usual unitary cut, the DPR is found to be largely enhanced in the low invariant mass region. Owing to the magnetic field and AMM dependence of the thresholds of these cuts, we find that the kinematically forbidden gap between the Unitary and Landau cuts vanishes at sufficiently high temperature, density and magnetic field leading to the generation of a continuous spectrum of dilepton emission over the whole invariant mass region. In order to see the effects of strangeness and confinement-deconfinement, the rates are compared with the three-flavor NJL and the two-flavor NJL and PNJL models.
