Radiatively-induced gravitational leptogenesis is a potential mechanism to explain the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe. Gravitational tidal effects at the quantum loop level modify the dynamics of the leptons in curved spacetime and may be encoded in a low-energy effective action Seff. It has been shown in previous work how in a high-scale BSM theory the CP odd curvature-induced interactions in Seff modify the dispersion relations of leptons and antileptons differently in an expanding universe, giving rise to an effective chemical potential and a non-vanishing equilibrium lepton-antilepton asymmetry. In this paper, the CP even curvature interactions are shown to break lepton number current conservation and modify the evolution of the lepton number density as the universe expands. These effects are implemented in a generalised Boltzmann equation and used to trace the dynamical evolution of the lepton number density in different cosmological scenarios. The theory predicts a potentially significant gravitationally-induced lepton-antilepton asymmetry at very early times in the evolution of the universe.

We investigate whether successful Gravitational Leptogenesis can take place during an Ekpyrotic contraction phase. Two possible paths by which this can occur are coupling the Ekpyrotic scalar to a gravitational Chern-Simons term, or to a $ U(1) $ gauge field Chern-Simons term. These couplings lead to the production of chiral gravitational waves, which generate a lepton number asymmetry through the gravitational-lepton number anomaly. This lepton asymmetry is subsequently reprocessed by equilibrium sphaleron processes to produce a baryon asymmetry. We find successful Gravitational Leptogenesis to be possible in Ekpyrotic bounce cosmologies through both of these mechanisms.

We propose a scenario of spontaneous leptogenesis in Higgs inflation with help from two additional operators: the Weinberg operator (Dim 5) and the derivative coupling of the Higgs field and the current of lepton number (Dim 6). The former is responsible for lepton number violation and the latter induces chemical potential for lepton number. The period of rapidly changing Higgs field, naturally realized in Higgs inflation during the reheating, allows large enhancement in the produced asymmetry in lepton number, which is eventually converted into baryon asymmetry of the universe. This scenario is compatible with high reheating temperature of Higgs inflation model.
We describe a new mechanism - radiatively-induced gravitational leptogenesis - for generating the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. We show how quantum loop effects in C and CP violating theories cause matter and antimatter to propagate differently in the presence of gravity, and prove this is forbidden in flat space by CPT and translation symmetry. This generates a curvature-dependent chemical potential for leptons, allowing a matter-antimatter asymmetry to be generated in thermal equilibrium in the early Universe. The time-dependent dynamics necessary for leptogenesis is provided by the interaction of the virtual self-energy cloud of the leptons with the expanding curved spacetime background, which violates the strong equivalence principle and allows a distinction between matter and antimatter. We show here how this mechanism is realised in a particular BSM theory, the see-saw model, where the quantum loops involve the heavy sterile neutrinos responsible for light neutrino masses. We demonstrate by explicit computation of the relevant two-loop Feynman diagrams how these radiative corrections display the necessary dependence on the sterile neutrino masses to generate an asymmetry, and show how the induced lepton asymmetry may be sufficiently large to play an important role in determining the baryon-to-photon ratio of the Universe.
We discuss a connection between gravitational-wave physics, quantum theory anomalies, right-handed (sterile) neutrinos, (spontaneous) CPT Violation and Leptogenesis, within the framework of string-inspired cosmological models. In particular, we present a scenario, according to which (primordial) gravitational waves induce gravitational anomalies during inflation. This, in turn, results in the existence of an undiluted (at the exit of inflation/beginning of radiation era) bakcground of the Kalb-Ramond (KR) axion of the massless bosonic string gravitational multiplet. The latter may violate spontaneously CP and CPT symmetries, and induce leptogenesis during the radiation-dominated era in models involving right-handed neutrinos. The so-generated lepton asymmetry may then be communicated to the baryon sector by appropriate baryon-minus-lepton-number (B - L)-conserving, but (B + L)-violating, (sphaleron) processes in the Standard Model sector, thus leading to matter dominance over antimatter in the Universe. In the current (approximately de Sitter) era, the KR axion background may provide a source for an axionic dark matter in the Universe, through its mixing with other axions that are abundant in string models. As an interesting byproduct of our analysis, we demonstrate that the anomalies contribute to the vacuum energy density of the Universe terms of running-vacuum type, proportional to the square of the Hubble parameter, $H^2$.
We use the Constitution supernova, the baryon acoustic oscillation, the cosmic microwave background, and the Hubble parameter data to analyze the evolution property of dark energy. We obtain different results when we fit different baryon acoustic oscillation data combined with the Constitution supernova data to the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder model. We find that the difference stems from the different values of $Omega_{m0}$. We also fit the observational data to the model independent piecewise constant parametrization. Four redshift bins with boundaries at $z=0.22$, 0.53, 0.85 and 1.8 were chosen for the piecewise constant parametrization of the equation of state parameter $w(z)$ of dark energy. We find no significant evidence for evolving $w(z)$. With the addition of the Hubble parameter, the constraint on the equation of state parameter at high redshift isimproved by 70%. The marginalization of the nuisance parameter connected to the supernova distance modulus is discussed.
