When studying boundary value problems for some partial differential equations arising in applied mathematics, we often have to study the solution of a system of partial differential equations satisfied by hypergeometric functions and find explicit linearly independent solutions for the system. In this study, we construct self-similar solutions of some model degenerate partial differential equations of the second, third, and fourth order. These self-similar solutions are expressed in terms of hypergeometric functions.

The concept of moment differentiation is extended to the class of moment summable functions, giving rise to moment differential properties. The main result leans on accurate upper estimates for the integral representation of the moment derivatives of functions under exponential-like growth at infinity, and appropriate deformation of the integration paths. The theory is applied to obtain summability results of certain family of generalized linear moment partial differential equations with variable coefficients.
We consider a boundary value problem in a bounded domain involving a degenerate operator of the form $$L(u)=-textrm{div} (a(x) abla u)$$ and a suitable nonlinearity $f$. The function $a$ vanishes on smooth 1-codimensional submanifolds of $Omega$ where it is not allowed to be $C^{2}$. By using weighted Sobolev spaces we are still able to find existence of solutions which vanish, in the trace sense, on the set where $a$ vanishes.
This note reports on the recent advancements in the search for explicit representation, in classical special functions, of the solutions of the fourth-order ordinary differential equations named Bessel-type, Jacobi-type, Laguerre-type, Legendre-type.
Picone-type identities are established for half-linear ODEs of fourth order (one-dimensional p-biLaplacian). It is shown that in the linear case they reduce to the known identities for fourth order linear ODEs. Picone-type identity known for two half-linear second-order equations is also generalised to set of equations greater than two.
We investigate and derive second solutions to linear homogeneous second-order difference equations using a variety of methods, in each case going beyond the purely formal solution and giving explicit expressions for the second solution. We present a new implementation of dAlemberts reduction of order method, applying it to linear second-order recursion equations. Further, we introduce an iterative method to obtain a general solution, giving two linearly independent polynomial solutions to the recurrence relation. In the case of a particular confluent hypergeometric function for which the standard second solution is not independent of the first, i.e. the solutions are degenerate, we use the corresponding differential equation and apply the extended Cauchy-integral method to find a polynomial second solution for the difference equation. We show that the standard dAlembert method also generates this polynomial solution.
