We carry out an ab initio calculation of the neutrino flux-folded inclusive cross sections, measured on $^{12}$C by the MiniBooNE and T2K collaborations in the charged-current quasielastic (CCQE) regime. The calculation is based on realistic two- and three-nucleon interactions, and on a realistic nuclear electroweak current with one-and two-nucleon terms that are constructed consistently with these interactions and reproduce low-energy electroweak transitions. Numerically exact quantum Monte Carlo methods are utilized to compute the nuclear weak response functions, by fully retaining many-body correlations in the initial and final states and interference effects between one- and two-body current contributions. We employ a nucleon axial form factor of the dipole form with $Lambda_A = 1.0$ or $1.15$ GeV, the latter more in line with a very recent lattice QCD determination. The calculated cross sections are found to be in good agreement with the neutrino data of MiniBooNE and T2K, and antineutrino MiniBooNE data, yielding a consistent picture of nuclei and their electroweak properties across a wide regime of energy and momenta.

Form factors for $alpha+{^{12}}$C inelastic scattering are obtained within two theoretical ($alpha+alpha+alpha$) approaches: The hyperspherical framework for three identical bosons, and the algebraic cluster model assuming the $D_{3h}$ symmetry of an equilateral triangle subject to rotations and vibrations. Results show a good agreement, with form factors involving the Hoyle state having a slightly larger extension within the hyperspherical approach. Coupled-channel calculations using these form factors are ongoing.
Experimental data on $ R(D^{(*)}) $, $ R(K^{(*)}) $ and $ R(J/psi) $, provided by different collaborations, show sizable deviations from the SM predictions. To describe these anomalies many new physics scenarios have been proposed. One of them is leptoquark model with introducing the vector and scalar leptoquarks coupling simultaneously to the quarks and leptons. To look for similar possible anomalies in baryonic sector, we investigate the effects of a vector leptoquark $U_3 (3,3, frac{2}{3})$ on various physical quantities related to the tree-level $ Lambda_b rightarrow Lambda_c ell ~ overline{ u}_ell$ decays ($ ell=mu, ~tau $), which proceed via $ b rightarrow c~ell ~ overline{ u}_ell$ transitions at quark level. We calculate the differential branching ratio, forward-backward asymmetry and longitudinal polarizations of lepton and $Lambda_{c}$ baryon at $ mu $ and $ tau $ lepton channels in leptoquark model and compare their behavior with respect to $ q^2 $ with the predictions of the standard model (SM). In the calculations we use the form factors calculated in full QCD as the main inputs and take into account all the errors coming from the form factors and model parameters. It is observed that ........
We develop a methodology for the computation of the $Kto ell u_ell ell^+ ell^-$ decay width using lattice QCD and present an exploratory study here. We use a scalar function method to account for the momentum dependence of the decay amplitude and adopt the infinite volume reconstruction (IVR) method to reduce the systematic errors such as the temporal truncation effects and the finite-volume effects. We then perform a four-body phase-space integral to obtain the decay width. The only remaining technical problem is the possible power-law finite-volume effects associated with the process of $Ktopipi ell u_ellto ell u_ell ell^+ ell^-$, where the intermediate state involves multiple hadrons. In this work, we use a gauge ensemble of twisted mass fermion with a pion mass $m_pi=352$ MeV and a nearly-physical kaon mass. At this kinematics, the $pipi$ in the intermediate state cannot be on shell simultaneously as $2m_pi>m_K$ and the finite-volume effects associate with $pipi$ state are exponentially suppressed. Using the developed methods mentioned above, we calculate the branching ratios for four channels of $Kto ell u_ellell^+ ell^-$, and obtain the results close to the experimental measurements and ChPT predictions. Our work demonstrates the capability of lattice QCD to improve Standard Model prediction in $Kto ell u_ell ell^+ ell^-$ decay width.
Neutrino oscillation probabilities, which are being measured in long-baseline experiments, depend on neutrino energy. The energy in a neutrino beam, however, is broadly smeared so that the neutrino energy in a particular event is not directly known, but must be reconstructed from final state properties. In this paper we investigate the contributions from different reaction mechanisms on the energy-reconstruction method widely used in long-baseline neutrino experiments. Difference between the true-QE and QE-like cross sections in MiniBooNE experiment is investigated in details. It is shown, that fake QE-like events lead to significant distortions in neutrino energy reconstruction. Flux-folded and unfolded cross sections for QE-like scattering are calculated as functions of both true and reconstructed energies. Flux-folded momentum transfer distributions are calculated as functions of both true and reconstructed momentum transfer. Distributions versus reconstructed values are compared with the experimental data. Also presented are the conditional probability densities of finding a true energy for a given reconstructed energy. It is shown, how the energy reconstruction procedure influences the measurement of oscillation parameters in T2K experiment. For the reconstruction procedure based on quasielastic (QE) kinematics, all other reaction channels beside true-QE scattering show a shift of the reconstructed energy towards lower values as compared to the true energy. On average in the MiniBooNE and T2K experiments the shift is 100 - 200 MeV and depends on energy. The oscillation signals are similarly affected. These uncertainties may limit the extraction of a CP violating phase from an oscillation result.
The measurement of neutrino oscillations and exotic physics searches are important parts of the physics program in the near future, with new state-of-the-art experiments planned within the next decade. Future and modern experiments in these fields will make use of nuclear targets. Event Generators (EGs) are software used in the analysis of neutrino oscillation experiments. EGs use to predict kinematic observables for a range of neutrino energies. These simulations may lack physics captured by more rigorous theoretical calculations. This work compares EG performance to nuclear theory calculations by comparing observables generated in the two frameworks. We provide a common set of definitions between theory and experiment and assess the physics contained in EG simulations. Neutral current quasi-elastic (NCQE) scattering events for neutrinos and anti-neutrinos on a $^{12}$C target are simulated with a specific EG, NEUT, used by the T2K experiment for its analysis. The simulated cross sections are compared to analytic calculations from nuclear theory within the factorization scheme. We compare the NEUT implementation of two different models on nuclear spectral functions: the Relativistic Fermi Gas (RFG) and the correlated basis spectral function (CBF) to analytic calculations of the same models in the factorization scheme. For both nuclear physics models, we compare the appearance of features in the distributions relevant to experimental analyses. Qualitatively, the shape of the simulated distribution is similar to the one obtained through theory calculations; however, there are some discrepancies between the theory calculations and the NEUT simulation. While the EG simulations and analytic calculations with the same model of nuclear dynamics show similar overall features, there are still differences between the two.
