The hallmark way to search for electroweakinos in natural supersymmetry at the LHC involves the trilepton plus missing energy final state. This approach assumes an electroweakino mass hierarchy that allows for cascade decays leading to a final state of $W^{pm}Z^0$ plus missing energy. There are, however, situations when that decay pattern may not exist, such as when a chargino is the lightest electroweakino and the lightest supersymmetric particle is the gravitino. In regions of the parameter space where this ordering occurs, the production of any combination of neutralino/chargino leads to a $W^+W^- + X$ plus missing energy final state, where $X$ could be additional jets or leptons. If $X$ is soft, then all neutralino/chargino production modes fall into the same experimental final state, dileptons plus missing energy. ATLAS and CMS have leptonic $W^+W^-$ plus missing energy searches, but their interpretation assumes a spectrum consisting of an isolated charged state. In this paper, we identify the circumstances under which natural supersymmetry models can avoid $W^{pm}Z^0$ plus missing energy bounds. For scenarios that escape $W^{pm}Z^0$ plus missing energy, we then recast the latest ATLAS $W^+W^-$ plus missing energy search, taking into account all the states that contribute to the same signal. Assuming the lightest supersymmetric particle is massless, we find a bound of 460 GeV for a higgsino-like degenerate doublet. Finally, we extend our arguments to a non-supersymmetric simplified model containing new electroweak-scale $SU(2)_w$ doublets and singlets.

The region of the supersymmetry parameter space, in which charginos decay predominantly into sneutrinos and leptons: chi+ -> tilde{ u} + l+, is not excluded experimentally for small mass differences between charginos and sneutrinos. The decay sneutrinos are invisible in R-parity conserving theories since they are either the lightest supersymmetric particles or they decay primarily into the channel: neutrino + lightest neutralino. If the energy of the decay leptons is so small that they escape detection, chargino events e+e- -> chi+chi- in e+e- collisions remain invisible, eroding the excluded chargino mass range at LEP. This region of the supersymmetry parameter space can partly be covered by searching for single W events in e+e- -> W+W-$, with one W boson decaying to leptons or quark jets, but the second W boson decaying to (undetected) charginos and neutralinos.

TeV scale new Physics, e.g., Large Extra Dimensions or Models with anomalous triple vector boson couplings, can lead to excesses in various kinematic regions on the semi-leptonic productions of pp -> WW -> lvjj at the CERN LHC, which, although suffers from large QCD background compared with the pure leptonic channel, can benefit from larger production rates and the reconstructable 4-body mass Mlvjj. We study the search sensitivity through the lvjj channel at the 7TeV LHC on relevant new physics, via probing the hard tails on the reconstructed Mlvjj and the transverse momentum of W-boson (PTW), taking into account main backgrounds and including the parton shower and detector simulation effects. Our results show that with integrated luminosity of 5fb-1, the LHC can already discovery or exclude a large parameter region of the new physics, e.g., 95% CL. limit can be set on the Large Extra Dimensions with a cut-off scale up to 1.5 TeV, and the WWZ anomalous coupling down to, e.g. |lambda_Z|~0.1. Brief results are also given for the 8TeV LHC.
The top quark and its properties within and beyond the Standard Model will be extensively studied at the incoming Large Hadron Collider. Nonetheless the top quark will play the role of the main background for most of the Higgs and new physics searches. In this paper the top as a background to H=>WW=>2l2nu Higgs discovery channel will be studied. The current status of the Monte Carlo tools for t-tbar and single top simulation will be presented. Finally the problem on how to evaluate the top background from the data will be addressed and the related systematics will be discussed.
We present a search for a standard model Higgs boson decaying to two $W$ bosons that decay to leptons using the full data set collected with the CDF II detector in $sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV $pbar{p}$ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb${}^{-1}$. We obtain no evidence for production of a standard model Higgs boson with mass between 110 and 200 GeV/$c^2$, and place upper limits on the production cross section within this range. We exclude standard model Higgs boson production at the 95% confidence level in the mass range between 149 and 172 GeV/$c^2$, while expecting to exclude, in the absence of signal, the range between 155 and 175 GeV/$c^2$. We also interpret the search in terms of standard model Higgs boson production in the presence of a fourth generation of fermions and within the context of a fermiophobic Higgs boson model. For the specific case of a standard model-like Higgs boson in the presence of fourth-generation fermions, we exclude at the 95% confidence level Higgs boson production in the mass range between 124 and 200 GeV/$c^2$, while expecting to exclude, in the absence of signal, the range between 124 and 221 GeV/$c^2$.

In this paper, we explore the impact of extra radiation on predictions of $pp to tbar{t}X, X = h/W^{pm}/Z$ processes within the dimension-6 SMEFT framework. While full next-to-leading order calculations are of course preferred, they are not always practical, and so it is useful to be able to capture the impacts of extra radiation using leading-order matrix elements matched to the parton shower. While a matched leading-order calculation for $tbar{t}X$ is not expected to reproduce the next-to-leading order inclusive cross section precisely, we show that it does capture the relative impact of the EFT effects by considering the ratio of matched SMEFT inclusive cross sections to Standard Model values, $sigma_{rm SMEFT}(tbar{t}Xj)/sigma_{rm SM}(tbar{t}Xj) equiv mu$. Furthermore, we compare leading order calculations with and without extra radiation and find several cases, such as the effect of the operator $(varphi^{dagger}i!overleftrightarrow{D}_{!mu}varphi) (bar{t}gamma^mu t)$ on $tbar{t}h$ and $tbar{t}W$, for which the relative cross section prediction increases by more than $10%$ -- significantly larger than the uncertainty derived by varying the input scales in the calculation, including the additional scales required for matching. Being leading order at heart, matching has the benefit that it can be applied to all operators and processes relevant to $pp to tbar{t}X, X = h/W^{pm}/Z +$ jet, is computationally fast and not susceptible to negative weights. Therefore, it is a useful approach in $tbar{t}X+$ jet studies where complete next-to-leading order results are currently unavailable or unwieldy.
