The quintessence-like potential of vacuum energy can meet the requirement from both quantum gravity and the accelerating expansion of the universe. The anti-de Sitter vacuum in string theory has to be lifted to the meta-stable de Sitter vacuum with positive vacuum energy density to explain the accelerating expansion of the universe. Based on the possible large scale Lorentz violation, we define an effective cosmological constant which depends not only on the bare cosmological constant but also on the Lorentz violation effect. We find the evolution of the effective cosmological constant exhibits the behavior of quintessence potential when the bare cosmological constant is from string landscape in contrary to the existence of local minimum during evolution while the bare cosmological constant is supplied by the swampland. The critical value of bare cosmological constant is approximately zero for the behavior transition. The frozen large scale Lorentz violation can uplift the AdS vacua to an effective quintessence-like one in this sense.
We consider a background of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry determined by the tensor $left( K_{F}right)_{mu ualphabeta}$ which governs the Lorentz symmetry violation out of the Standard Model Extension, where this background gives rise to a Coulomb-type potential, and then, we analyse its effects on a relativistic quantum oscillator. Furthermore, we analyse the behaviour of the relativistic quantum oscillator under the influence of a linear scalar potential and this background of the Lorentz symmetry violation. We show in both cases that analytical solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation can be achieved.
We investigate the bubble nucleation in five dimensional spacetime catalyzed by quintessence. We especially focus on decay of a metastable Minkowski vacuum to an anti-de Sitter vacuum and study dynamics of the bubble on which four dimensional expanding universe is realized. We also discuss the trans-Planckian censorship conjecture and impose a constraint on the parameter space of the catalysis. As an application of this model, we propose an inflation mechanism and an origin of the dark energy in the context of quintessence in five dimensions.
Radiative corrections in Lorentz violating (LV) models have already received a lot of attention in the literature in recent years, with many instances where a LV operator in one sector of the Standard Model Extension (SME) generates, via loop corrections, one of the LV coefficients in the photon sector, which is probably the most understood and well constrained part of the SME. In many of these works, however, the now standard notation of the SME is not used, which can obscure the comparison of different results, and their possible phenomenological relevance. In this work, we fill this gap, trying to build up a more general perspective on the topic, bringing many of the results to the SME conventional notation and commenting on their possible phenomenological relevance. We uncover one example where a result already presented in the literature can be used to place a stronger bound on the temporal component of the b_{mu} coefficient of the fermion sector of the SME.
All quadratic translation- and gauge-invariant photon operators for Lorentz breakdown are included into the Stueckelberg Lagrangian for massive photons in a generalized xi-gauge. The corresponding dispersion relation and tree-level propagator are determined exactly, and some leading-order results are derived. The question of how to include such Lorentz-violating effects into a perturbative quantum-field expansion is addressed. Applications of these results within Lorentz-breaking quantum field theories include the regularization of infrared divergences as well as the free propagation of massive vector bosons.
Four-dimensional (4D) flat Minkowski space admits a foliation by hyperbolic slices. Euclidean AdS3 slices fill the past and future lightcones of the origin, while dS3 slices fill the region outside the lightcone. The resulting link between 4D asymptotically flat quantum gravity and AdS3/CFT2 is explored in this paper. The 4D superrotations in the extended BMS4 group are found to act as the familiar conformal transformations on the 3D hyperbolic slices, mapping each slice to itself. The associated 4D superrotation charge is constructed in the covariant phase space formalism. The soft part gives the 2D stress tensor, which acts on the celestial sphere at the boundary of the hyperbolic slices, and is shown to be an uplift to 4D of the familiar 3D holographic AdS3 stress tensor. Finally, we find that 4D quantum gravity contains an unexpected second, conformally soft, dimension (2, 0) mode that is symplectically paired with the celestial stress tensor.
