We study the stress-tensor distribution around the flux tube in static quark and anti-quark systems based on the momentum conservation and the Abelian-Higgs (AH) model. We first investigate constraints on the stress-tensor distribution from the momentum conservation and show that the effect of boundaries plays a crucial role to describe the structure of the flux tube in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory which has measured recently on the lattice. We then study the distributions of the stress tensor and energy density around the magnetic vortex with and without boundaries in the AH model, and compare them with the distributions in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory based on the dual superconductor picture. It is shown that a wide parameter range of the AH model is excluded by a comparison with the lattice results in terms of the stress tensor.

We investigate tensor mesons as quark-antiquark bound states in a fully covariant Bethe-Salpeter equation. As a first concrete step we report results for masses of J^{PC}=2^{++} mesons from the chiral limit up to bottomonium and sketch a comparison to experimental data. All covariant structures of the fermion-antifermion system are taken into account and their roles and importance discussed in two different bases. We also present the general construction principle for covariant Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes of mesons with any spin and find eight covariant structures for any J>0.
The spatial distribution of the stress tensor around the quark--anti-quark ($Qbar{Q}$) pair in SU(3) lattice gauge theory is studied. The Yang-Mills gradient flow plays a crucial role to make the stress tensor well-defined and derivable from the numerical simulations on the lattice. The resultant stress tensor with a decomposition into local principal axes shows, for the first time, the detailed structure of the flux tube along the longitudinal and transverse directions in a gauge invariant manner. The linear confining behavior of the $Qbar{Q}$ potential at long distances is derived directly from the integral of the local stress tensor.
We study the $SU(2)$ gauge-Higgs model in two Euclidean dimensions using the tensor renormalization group (TRG) approach. We derive a tensor formulation for this model in the unitary gauge and compare the expectation values of different observables between TRG and Monte Carlo simulations finding excellent agreement between the two methods. In practice we find the TRG method to be far superior to Monte Carlo simulation for calculations of the Polyakov loop correlation function which is used to extract the static quark potential.

The path-integral formulation of the hadronic tensor W_{mu u} of deep inelastic scattering is reviewed. It is shown that there are 3 gauge invariant and topologically distinct contributions. The separation of the connected sea partons from those of the disconnected sea can be achieved with a combination of the global fit of the parton distribution function (PDF), the semi-inclusive DIS data on the strange PDF and the lattice calculation of the ratio of the strange to $u/d$ momentum fraction in the disconnected insertion. We shall discuss numerical issues associated with lattice calculation of the hadronic tensor involving a four-point function, such as large hadron momenta and improved maximum entropy method to obtain the spectral density from the hadronic tensor in Euclidean time. We also draw a comparison between the large momentum approach to the parton distribution function (PDF) and the hadronic tensor approach.
We bootstrap the S-matrix of massless particles in unitary, relativistic two dimensional quantum field theories. We find that the low energy expansion of such S-matrices is strongly constrained by the existence of a UV completion. In the context of flux tube physics, this allows us to constrain several terms in the S-matrix low energy expansion or -- equivalently -- on Wilson coefficients of several irrelevant operators showing up in the flux tube effective action. These bounds have direct implications for other physical quantities; for instance, they allow us to further bound the ground state energy as well as the level splitting of degenerate energy levels of large flux tubes. We find that the S-matrices living at the boundary of the allowed space exhibit an intricate pattern of resonances with one sharper resonance whose quantum numbers, mass and width are precisely those of the world-sheet axion proposed in [1,2]. The general method proposed here should be extendable to massless S-matrices in higher dimensions and should lead to new quantitative bounds on irrelevant operators in theories of Goldstones and also in gauge and gravity theories.
