Expected energy spectra calculations for large volume liquid scintillation detectors to inverse $beta$-decay for antineutrinos produced by $^{144}$Ce -- $^{144}$Pr artificial source have been performed. The calculations were carried out through Monte-Carlo method within GEANT4.10 framework and were purposed to search for neutrino oscillation to sterile eigenstate with mass about 1 eV. The analysis of relative sensitivity to oscillation parameters for different detector shapes has been performed.

Here we present the specifications of the newly developed beta-spectrometer based on thick full absorption Si(Li) detector. The spectrometer can be used for precision measurements of various beta-spectra, namely for the beta-spectrum shape study of $^{144}$Pr, which is considered to be the most promising anti-neutrino source for sterile neutrino searches.
Environmental radioactivity is a dominant background for rare decay search experiments, and it is difficult to completely remove such an impurity from detector vessels. We propose a scintillation balloon as the active vessel of a liquid scintillator in order to identify this undesirable radioactivity. According to our feasibility studies, the scintillation balloon enables the bismuth--polonium sequential decay to be tagged with a 99.7% efficiency, assuming a KamLAND (Kamioka Liquid scintillator AntiNeutrino Detector)-type liquid scintillator detector. This tagging of sequential decay using alpha-ray from the polonium improves the sensitivity to neutrinoless double-beta decay with rejecting beta-ray background from the bismuth.
We investigate the sensitivity of the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment (KATRIN) to keV-scale sterile neutrinos, which are promising dark matter candidates. Since the active-sterile mixing would lead to a second component in the tritium $beta$-spectrum with a weak relative intensity of order $sin^2theta lesssim 1times10^{-6}$, additional experimental strategies are required to extract this small signature and to eliminate systematics. A possible strategy is to run the experiment in an alternative time-of-flight (TOF) mode, yielding differential TOF spectra in contrast to the integrating standard mode. In order to estimate the sensitivity from a reduced sample size, a new analysis method, called self-consistent approximate Monte Carlo (SCAMC), has been developed. The simulations show that an ideal TOF mode would be able to achieve a statistical sensitivity of $sin^2theta sim 5times10^{-9}$ at one $sigma$, improving the standard mode by approximately a factor two. This relative benefit grows significantly if additional exemplary systematics are considered. A possible implementation of the TOF mode with existing hardware, called gated filtering, is investigated, which, however, comes at the price of a reduced average signal rate.

Monoenergetic muon neutrinos (235.5 MeV) from positive kaon decay-at-rest are considered as a source for an electron neutrino appearance search. In combination with a liquid argon time projection chamber based detector, such a source could provide discovery-level sensitivity to the neutrino oscillation parameter space indicative of a sterile neutrino. Current and future intense >3 GeV kinetic energy proton facilities around the world can be employed for this experimental concept.
We investigate features of the sterile neutrinos in the presence of a light gauge boson $X^mu$ that couples to the neutrino sector. The novel bounds on the active-sterile neutrino mixings $| U_{ell 4} |^2$, especially for tau flavor ($l = tau$), from various collider and fixed target experiments are explored. Also, taking into account the additional decay channel of the sterile neutrino into a light gauge boson ($ u_4 to u_ell e^+ e^-$), we explore and constrain a parameter space for low energy excess in neutrino oscillation experiments.
