In this paper, we consider the coded-caching broadcast network with user cooperation, where a server connects with multiple users and the users can cooperate with each other through a cooperation network. We propose a centralized coded caching scheme based on a new deterministic placement strategy and a parallel delivery strategy. It is shown that the new scheme optimally allocate the communication loads on the server and users, obtaining cooperation gain and parallel gain that greatly reduces the transmission delay. Furthermore, we show that the number of users who parallelly send information should decrease when the users caching size increases. In other words, letting more users parallelly send information could be harmful. Finally, we derive a constant multiplicative gap between the lower bound and upper bound on the transmission delay, which proves that our scheme is order optimal.
In this paper, we investigate the transmission delay of cache-aided broadcast networks with user cooperation. Novel coded caching schemes are proposed for both centralized and decentralized caching settings, by efficiently exploiting time and cache resources and creating parallel data delivery at the server and users. We derive a lower bound on the transmission delay and show that the proposed centralized coded caching scheme is emph{order-optimal} in the sense that it achieves a constant multiplicative gap within the lower bound. Our decentralized coded caching scheme is also order-optimal when each users cache size is larger than the threshold $N(1-sqrt[{K-1}]{ {1}/{(K+1)}})$ (approaching 0 as $Kto infty$), where $K$ is the total number of users and $N$ is the size of file library. Moreover, for both the centralized and decentralized caching settings, our schemes obtain an additional emph{cooperation gain} offered by user cooperation and an additional emph{parallel gain} offered by the parallel transmission among the server and users. It is shown that in order to reduce the transmission delay, the number of users parallelly sending signals should be appropriately chosen according to users cache size, and alway letting more users parallelly send information could cause high transmission delay.
We address a centralized caching problem with unequal cache sizes. We consider a system with a server of files connected through a shared error-free link to a group of cache-enabled users where one subgroup has a larger cache size than the other. We propose an explicit caching scheme for the considered system aimed at minimizing the load of worst-case demands over the shared link. As suggested by numerical evaluations, our scheme improves upon the best existing explicit scheme by having a lower worst-case load; also, our scheme performs within a multiplicative factor of 1.11 from the scheme that can be obtained by solving an optimisation problem in which the number of parameters grows exponentially with the number of users.
In coded caching system we prefer to design a coded caching scheme with low subpacketization and small transmission rate (i.e., the low implementation complexity and the efficient transmission during the peak traffic times). Placement delivery arrays (PDA) can be used to design code caching schemes. In this paper we propose a framework of constructing PDAs via Hamming distance. As an application, two classes of coded caching schemes with linear subpacketizations and small transmission rates are obtained.
Recently Hachem et al. formulated a multiaccess coded caching model which consists of a central server connected to $K$ users via an error-free shared link, and $K$ cache-nodes. Each cache-node is equipped with a local cache and each user can access $L$ neighbouring cache-nodes with a cyclic wrap-around fashion. In this paper, we take the privacy of the users demands into consideration, i.e., each user can only get its required file and can not get any information about the demands of other users. By storing some private keys at the cache-nodes, we propose a novel transformation approach to transform a non-private multiaccess coded caching scheme into a private multiaccess coded caching scheme.
We consider the problem of emph{secretive coded caching} in a shared cache setup where the number of users accessing a particular emph{helper cache} is more than one, and every user can access exactly one helper cache. In secretive coded caching, the constraint of emph{perfect secrecy} must be satisfied. It requires that the users should not gain, either from their caches or from the transmissions, any information about the content of the files that they did not request from the server. In order to accommodate the secrecy constraint, our problem setup requires, in addition to a helper cache, a dedicated emph{user cache} of minimum capacity of 1 unit to every user. This is where our formulation differs from the original work on shared caches (``Fundamental Limits of Coded Caching With Multiple Antennas, Shared Caches and Uncoded Prefetching by E.~Parrinello, A.~{{U}}nsal and P.~Elia in Trans. Inf. Theory, 2020). In this work, we propose a secretively achievable coded caching scheme with shared caches under centralized placement. When our scheme is applied to the dedicated cache setting, it matches the scheme by Ravindrakumar emph{et al.} (``Private Coded Caching, in Trans. Inf. Forensics and Security, 2018).
