In this paper the kink scattering in a two-component scalar field theory model in (1+1)-Minkowskian space-time is addressed. The potential term $U(phi_1,phi_2)$ is given by a polynomial of fourth degree in the first field component and of sixth degree in the second one. The novel characteristic of this model is that the kink variety describes two different types of extended particles. These particles are characterized by its topological charge but also by a new feature determined by a discrete charge $Lambda=0,pm 1$. For this reason, the kink scattering involves a very rich variety of processes, which comprises kink annihilation, reflection, charge exchange, transmutation, etc. It has been found that not only the final velocity of the scattered kinks, but also the final nature of the emerging lumps after the collision are very sensitive on the initial velocities. Asymmetric scattering processes arise when Type I and Type II particles are obliged to collide. In this case, ten different final scenarios are possible. Symmetric scattering events are also discussed.

In this paper the scattering between the non-topological kinks arising in a family of two-component scalar field theory models is analyzed. A winding charge is carried by these defects. As a consequence, two different classes of kink scattering processes emerge: (1) collisions between kinks that carry the same winding number and (2) scattering events between kinks with opposite winding number. The variety of scattering channels is very rich and it strongly depends on the collision velocity and the model parameter. For the first type of events, four distinct scattering channels are found: textit{kink reflection} (kinks collide and bounce back), textit{one-kink (partial) annihilation} (the two non-topological kinks collide causing the annihilation of one half of each kink and the subsequent recombination of the other two halves, giving rise to a new non-topological kink with the opposite winding charge), textit{winding flip kink reflection} (kinks collide and emerge with the opposite winding charge) and textit{total kink annihilation} (kinks collide and decay to the vacuum configuration). For the second type of events, the scattering channels comprise textit{bion formation} (kink and antikink form a long-living bound state), textit{kink-antikink passage} (kinks collide and pass each other) and textit{kink-antikink annihilation} (kink and antikink collide and decay to the vacuum configuration).
In this paper, kink scattering in the dimensional reduction of the bosonic sector of a one-parameter family of generalized Wess-Zumino models with three vacuum points is discussed. The value of the model parameter determines the specific location of the vacua. The influence of the vacuum arrangements (evolving from three collinear vacua to three vacua placed at the vertices of an equilateral triangle) on the kink scattering is investigated. Two different regimes can be distinguished: in the first one, two symmetric BPS kinks/antikinks arise whereas in the second one a new different BPS kink/antikink emerges, with the exception of a three-fold rotational symmetry case, where the three topological defects are identical. The scattering between the two symmetric kinks is thoroughly analyzed. Two different scattering channels have been found: kink-kink reflection and kink-kink hybridization. In the last case, the collision between the two symmetric kinks gives rise to the third different kink. Resonance phenomena also appear allowing a vibrating kink to split into two symmetric kinks moving away.
We consider topological defects for the $lambdaphi^4$ theory in (1+1) dimensions with a Lorentz-violating background. It has been shown, by M. Barreto et al. (2006) cite{barreto2006defect}, one cannot have original effects in (the leading order of) single scalar field model. Here, we introduce a new Lorentz-violating term, next to leading order which cannot be absorbed by any redefinition of the scalar field or coordinates. Our term is the lowest order term which leads to concrete effects on the kink properties. We calculate the corrections to the kink shape and the corresponding mass. Quantization of the kink is performed and the revised modes are obtained. We find the bound and continuum states are affected due to this Lorentz symmetry violation.
Recent studies have emphasized the important role that a shape deformability of scalar-field models pertaining to the same class with the standard $phi^4$ field, can play in controlling the production of a specific type of breathing bound states so-called oscillons. In the context of cosmology, the built-in mechanism of oscillons suggests that they can affect the standard picture of scalar ultra-light dark matter. In the present work kink scatterings are investigated in a parametrized model of bistable system admitting the classical $phi^4$ field as an asymptotic limit, with focus on the formation of long-lived low-amplitude almost harmonic oscillations of the scalar field around a vacuum. The parametrized model is characterized by a double-well potential with a shape-deformation parameter that changes only the steepness of the potential walls, and hence the flatness of the hump of the potential barrier, leaving unaffected the two degenerate minima and the barrier height. It is found that the variation of the deformability parameter promotes several additional vibrational modes in the kink-phonon scattering potential, leading to suppression of the two-bounce windows in kink-antikink scatterings and the production of oscillons. Numerical results suggest that the anharmonicity of the potential barrier, characterized by a flat barrier hump, is the main determinant factor for the production of oscillons in double-well systems.
This paper shows a new approach to obtain analytical topological defects of a 2D Myers-Pospelov Lagrangian for two scalar fields. Such a Lagrangian presents higher-order kinetic terms, which lead us to equations of motion which are non-trivial to be integrated. Here we describe three possible scenarios for the equations of motion, named by timelike, spacelike and lightlike respectively. We started our investigation with a kink-like travelling wave Ansatz for the free theory, which led us to constraints for the dispersion relations of each scenario. We also introduced a procedure to obtain analytical solutions for the general theory in the three mentioned scenarios. We exemplified the procedure and discussed the behavior of the defect solutions carefully. It is remarkable that the methodology presented in this study led to analytical models, despite the complexity of the equations of motion derived from the 2D Myers-Pospelov Lagrangian. The methodology here tailored can be applied to several Lagrangians with higher-order derivative terms.
