We analyze the low-$Q^2$ behavior of the axial form factor $G_A(Q^2)$, the induced pseudoscalar form factor $G_P(Q^2)$, and the axial nucleon-to-$Delta$ transition form factors $C^A_5(Q^2)$ and $C^A_6(Q^2)$. Building on the results of chiral perturbation theory, we first discuss $G_A(Q^2)$ in a chiral effective-Lagrangian model including the $a_1$ meson and determine the relevant coupling parameters from a fit to experimental data. With this information, the form factor $G_P(Q^2)$ can be predicted. For the determination of the transition form factor $C^A_5(Q^2)$ we make use of an SU(6) spin-flavor quark-model relation to fix two coupling constants such that only one free parameter is left. Finally, the transition form factor $C^A_6(Q^2)$ can be predicted in terms of $G_P(Q^2)$, the mean-square axial radius $langle r^2_Arangle$, and the mean-square axial nucleon-to-$Delta$ transition radius $langle r^2_{ANDelta}rangle$.

We examine the contribution of the pion cloud to the electromagnetic $N rightarrow Delta$ transition form factors within a relativistic hybrid constituent-quark model. In this model baryons consist not only of the $3q$ valence component, but contain, in addition, a $3 q pi$ non-valence component. We start with constituent quarks which are subject to a scalar, isoscalar confining force. This leads to an $SU(6)$ spin-flavor symmetric spectrum with degenerate nucleon and Delta masses. Mass splitting is caused by pions which are assumed to couple directly to the quarks. The point-form of relativistic quantum mechanics is employed to achieve a relativistically invariant description of this system. The $N rightarrow Delta$ transition current is then determined from the one-photon exchange contribution to the $Delta$ electroproduction amplitude. We will give predictions for the ratios $R_{EM}$ and $R_{SM}$ of electric to magnetic and Coulomb to magnetic form factors, which are supposed to be most sensitive to pion-cloud effects.
The mini-proceedings of the Workshop on Meson Transition Form Factors held in Cracow from May 29th to 30th, 2012 introduce the meson transition form factor project with special emphasis on the interrelations between the various form factors (on-shell, single off-shell, double off-shell). Short summaries of the talks presented at the workshop follow.

We present results on the nucleon axial vector form factors $G_A(q^2)$ and $G_p(q^2)$ in the quenched theory and using two degenerate flavors of dynamical Wilson fermions for momentum transfer squared from about 0.1 to about 2 GeV^2 and for pion masses in the range of 380 to 600 MeV. We also present results on the corresponding N to Delta axial vector transition form factors $C_5^A(q^2)$ and $C_6^A(q^2)$ using, in addition to Wilson fermions, domain wall valence quarks and dynamical staggered sea quarks provided by the MILC collaboration.
We correct the values of the dominant nucleon to Delta axial transition form factors CA_5 and CA_6 published in C. Alexandrou et.al., Phys. Rev. D 76,094511 (2007). The analysis error affects only the values obtained when using the hybrid action in the low Q^2 regime bringing them into agreement with those obtained with Wilson fermions.

We present results on the nucleon axial form factors within lattice QCD using two flavors of degenerate twisted mass fermions. Volume effects are examined using simulations at two volumes of spatial length $L=2.1$ fm and $L=2.8$ fm. Cut-off effects are investigated using three different values of the lattice spacings, namely $a=0.089$ fm, $a=0.070$ fm and $a=0.056$ fm. The nucleon axial charge is obtained in the continuum limit and chirally extrapolated to the physical pion mass enabling comparison with experiment.
