Using four different experimental techniques, we performed comprehensive studies of the bulk superconductive properties of single crystals of the nearly optimally doped $Ba_{1-x}K_xFe_2As_2$ ($T_{c} approx 36,K$), a typical representative of the 122 family. We investigated temperature dependencies of the (i) specific heat $C_{el}(T)$, (ii) first critical magnetic field $H_{c1}(T)$, (iii) intrinsic multiple Andreev reflection effect (IMARE), and (iv) infrared reflectivity spectra. All data clearly show the presence of (at least) two superconducting nodeless gaps. The quantitative data on the superconducting spectrum obtained by four different techniques are consistent with each other: (a) the small energy gap $Delta_S(0) approx 1.8 - 2.5,meV$, and the large gap energy $Delta_L(0) approx 9.5 - 11.3,meV$ that demonstrates the signature of an extended s-wave symmetry ($sim~33 %$ in-plane anisotropy), (b) the characteristic ratio $2Delta_L/k_BT_C$ noticeably exceeds the BCS value.

We generalize the Chebyshev-Bogoliubov-deGennes method to treat multi-band systems to address the temperature dependence of the superconducting (SC) gaps of iron based superconductors. Four SC gaps associated with different electron and hole pockets of optimally doped Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ were clearly identified by angle resolved photo-emission spectroscopy. The few approaches that reproduces with success this gap structure are based on strong-coupling theories and required many adjustable parameters. We show that an approach with a redistribution of electron population between the hole and electron pockets $ u$ with evolving temperature reproduces the different coupling ratios $2Delta^{ u}(0)/k_{rm B} T_c$ in these materials. We define the values that fit the four zero temperature gaps $Delta^{ u}(0)$ and after that all $Delta^{ u}(T)$ is obtained without any additional parameter.
The precise momentum dependence of the superconducting gap in the iron-arsenide superconductor with Tc = 32K (BKFA) was determined from angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) via fitting the distribution of the quasiparticle density to a model. The model incorporates finite lifetime and experimental resolution effects, as well as accounts for peculiarities of BKFA electronic structure. We have found that the value of the superconducting gap is practically the same for the inner Gamma-barrel, X-pocket, and blade-pocket, and equals 9 meV, while the gap on the outer Gamma-barrel is estimated to be less than 4 meV, resulting in 2Delta/kT_c=6.8 for the large gap, and 2Delta/kT_c<3 for the small gap. A large (77 pm 3%) non-superconducting component in the photoemission signal is observed below T_c. Details of gap extraction from ARPES data are discussed in Appendix.
We studied nearly optimally Ni-substituted BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$ (BFNA) single crystals with $T_C approx 18.5$,K. In irreversible magnetization measurements, we determined the field dependence of the critical-current density and discuss the nature of observed strong bulk pinning. Using intrinsic multiple Andreev reflections effect (IMARE) spectroscopy, we directly determine two distinct superconducting gaps and resolve their moderate anisotropy in the momentum space. The BCS-ratio for the large gap $2Delta_L/k_BT_C > 4.1$ evidences for a strong coupling in the $Delta_L$-bands.

We performed optical spectroscopy measurement on a superconducting Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ single crystal with T$_c$=37 K. Formation of the superconducting energy gaps in the far-infared reflectance spectra below T$_c$ is clearly observed. The gap amplitudes match well with the two distinct superconducting gaps observed in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments on different Fermi surfaces. We determined absolute value of the penetration depth at 10 K as $lambdasimeq2000 AA$. A spectral weight analysis shows that the Ferrell-Glover-Timkham sum rule is satisfied at low energy scale, less than 6$Delta$.
We investigate the iron-based superconductor Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$ using a terahertz (THz) pump near-infrared probe scheme. In the superconducting state we observe an instantaneous signal that is assigned to a non-linear THz Kerr effect. The THz Kerr signal is profoundly affected by the coexistence with the nematic order. In the absence of nematic order the $C_4$ symmetric polarization dependence of the THz Kerr signal is consistent with a coupling to the Higgs mode. In the coexisting nematic and superconducting state the signal becomes purely nematic with a vanishing $C_4$ symmetric component, signaling the possible emergence of a new superconducting collective mode activated by nematicity.
