In this short Note we show that the direct image sheaf R 1 $pi$ * (O X) associated to an analytic family of compact complex manifolds $pi$ : X $rightarrow$ S parametrized by a reduced complex space S is a locally free (coherent) sheaf of O S --modules. This result allows to improve a semi-continuity type result for the algebraic dimension of compact complex manifolds in an analytic family given in [B.15]. In this paper, we prove the semi-continuity theorem of Diederich-Forn{ae}ss index and Steinness index under a smooth deformation of pseudoconvex domains in Stein manifolds.

Let $X$ be a smooth projective connected curve of genus $gge 2$ defined over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$. Let $G$ be a finite group, $P$ a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G$ and $N_G(P)$ its normalizer in $G$. We show that if there exists an etale Galois cover $Yto X$ with group $N_G(P)$, then $G$ is the Galois group wan etale Galois cover $mathcal{Y}tomathcal{X}$, where the genus of $mathcal{X}$ depends on the order of $G$, the number of Sylow $p$-subgroups of $G$ and $g$. Suppose that $G$ is an extension of a group $H$ of order prime to $p$ by a $p$-group $P$ and $X$ is defined over a finite field $mathbb{F}_q$ large enough to contain the $|H|$-th roots of unity. We show that integral idempotent relations in the group ring $mathbb{C}[H]$ imply similar relations among the corresponding generalized Hasse-Witt invariants.
Let F/F_q be an algebraic function field of genus g defined over a finite field F_q. We obtain new results on the existence, the number and the density of dimension zero divisors of degree g-k in F where k is a positive integer. In particular, for q=2,3 we prove that there always exists a dimension zero divisor of degree gamma-1 where gamma is the q-rank of F. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a dimension zero divisor of degree g-k for a hyperelliptic field F in terms of its Zeta function.

In this note we use the divisorial Zariski decomposition to give a more intrinsic version of the algebraic Morse inequalities.

In this article we show that all results proved for a large class of holomorphic germs $f : (mathbb{C}^{n+1}, 0) to (mathbb{C}, 0)$ with a 1-dimension singularity in [B.II] are valid for an arbitrary such germ.
