We observe several facts and make conjectures about commutative algebras satisfying the Jacobi identity. The central question is which of those algebras admit a faithful representation (i.e., in Lie parlance, satisfy the Ado theorem, or, in Jordan parlance, are special).

For a simple Lie algebra, over $mathbb{C}$, we consider the weight which is the sum of all simple roots and denote it $tilde{alpha}$. We formally use Kostants weight multiplicity formula to compute the dimension of the zero-weight space. In type $A_r$, $tilde{alpha}$ is the highest root, and therefore this dimension is the rank of the Lie algebra. In type $B_r$, this is the defining representation, with dimension equal to 1. In the remaining cases, the weight $tilde{alpha}$ is not dominant and is not the highest weight of an irreducible finite-dimensional representation. Kostants weight multiplicity formula, in these cases, is assigning a value to a virtual representation. The point, however, is that this number is nonzero if and only if the Lie algebra is classical. This gives rise to a new characterization of the exceptional Lie algebras as the only Lie algebras for which this value is zero.

All gradings by abelian groups are classified on the following algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2: the simple Lie algebra of type $G_2$ (characteristic not 3), the exceptional simple Jordan algebra, and the simple Lie algebra of type $F_4$.
In this paper we initiate the study of the maximal subalgebras of exceptional simple classical Lie algebras g over algebraically closed fields k of positive characteristic p, such that the prime characteristic is good for g. In this paper we deal with what is surely the most unnatural case; that is, where the maximal subalgebra in question is a simple subalgebra of non-classical type. We show that only the first Witt algebra can occur as a subalgebra of g and give explicit details on when it may be maximal in g.

After recalling the notion of Lie algebroid, we construct these structures associated with contact forms or systems. We are then interested in particular classes of Lie Rinehart algebras.
In this paper, we introduce the notion Lie-derivation. This concept generalizes derivations for non-Lie Leibniz algebras. We study these Lie-derivations in the case where their image is contained in the Lie-center, call them Lie-central derivations. We provide a characterization of Lie-stem Leibniz algebras by their Lie-central derivations, and prove several properties of the Lie algebra of Lie-central derivations for Lie-nilpotent Leibniz algebras of class 2. We also introduce ${sf ID}_*-Lie$-derivations. A ${sf ID}_*-Lie$-derivation of a Leibniz algebra G is a Lie-derivation of G in which the image is contained in the second term of the lower Lie-central series of G, and that vanishes on Lie-central elements. We provide an upperbound for the dimension of the Lie algebra $ID_*^{Lie}(G)$ of $ID_*Lie$-derivation of G, and prove that the sets $ID_*^{Lie}(G)$ and $ID_*^{Lie}(G)$ are isomorphic for any two Lie-isoclinic Leibniz algebras G and Q.
