In this paper, we study limit behaviors of stationary measures of the Fokker-Planck equations associated with a system of ordinary differential equations perturbed by a class of multiplicative including additive white noises. As the noises are vanishing, various results on the invariance and concentration of the limit measures are obtained. In particular, we show that if the noise perturbed systems admit a uniform Lyapunov function, then the stationary measures form a relatively sequentially compact set whose weak$^*$-limits are invariant measures of the unperturbed system concentrated on its global attractor. In the case that the global attractor contains a strong local attractor, we further show that there exists a family of admissible multiplicative noises with respect to which all limit measures are actually concentrated on the local attractor; and on the contrary, in the presence of a strong local repeller in the global attractor, there exists a family of admissible multiplicative noises with respect to which no limit measure can be concentrated on the local repeller. Moreover, we show that if there is a strongly repelling equilibrium in the global attractor, then limit measures with respect to typical families of multiplicative noises are always concentrated away from the equilibrium. As applications of these results, an example of stochastic Hopf bifurcation is provided. Our study is closely related to the problem of noise stability of compact invariant sets and invariant measures of the unperturbed system.
Expanding on techniques of concentration of measure, we develop a quantitative framework for modeling liquidity risk using convex risk measures. The fundamental objects of study are curves of the form $(rho(lambda X))_{lambda ge 0}$, where $rho$ is a convex risk measure and $X$ a random variable, and we call such a curve a emph{liquidity risk profile}. The shape of a liquidity risk profile is intimately linked with the tail behavior of the underlying $X$ for some notable classes of risk measures, namely shortfall risk measures. We exploit this link to systematically bound liquidity risk profiles from above by other real functions $gamma$, deriving tractable necessary and sufficient conditions for emph{concentration inequalities} of the form $rho(lambda X) le gamma(lambda)$, for all $lambda ge 0$. These concentration inequalities admit useful dual representations related to transport inequalities, and this leads to efficient uniform bounds for liquidity risk profiles for large classes of $X$. On the other hand, some modest new mathematical results emerge from this analysis, including a new characterization of some classical transport-entropy inequalities. Lastly, the analysis is deepened by means of a surprising connection between time consistency properties of law invariant risk measures and the tensorization of concentration inequalities.
We consider random perturbations of a topologically transitive local diffeomorphism of a Riemannian manifold. We show that if an absolutely continuous ergodic stationary measures is expanding (all Lyapunov exponents positive), then there is a random Gibbs-Markov-Young structure which can be used to lift that measure. We also prove that if the original map admits a finite number of expanding invariant measures then the stationary measures of a sufficiently small stochastic perturbation are expanding.
We analyze some properties of maximizing stationary Markov probabilities on the Bernoulli space $[0,1]^mathbb{N}$, More precisely, we consider ergodic optimization for a continuous potential $A$, where $A: [0,1]^mathbb{N}to mathbb{R}$ which depends only on the two first coordinates. We are interested in finding stationary Markov probabilities $mu_infty$ on $ [0,1]^mathbb{N}$ that maximize the value $ int A d mu,$ among all stationary Markov probabilities $mu$ on $[0,1]^mathbb{N}$. This problem correspond in Statistical Mechanics to the zero temperature case for the interaction described by the potential $A$. The main purpose of this paper is to show, under the hypothesis of uniqueness of the maximizing probability, a Large Deviation Principle for a family of absolutely continuous Markov probabilities $mu_beta$ which weakly converges to $mu_infty$. The probabilities $mu_beta$ are obtained via an information we get from a Perron operator and they satisfy a variational principle similar to the pressure. Under the hypothesis of $A$ being $C^2$ and the twist condition, that is, $frac{partial^2 A}{partial_x partial_y} (x,y) eq 0$, for all $(x,y) in [0,1]^2$, we show the graph property.
In this paper, we prove a threshold result on the existence of a circularly invariant uniformizable probability measure (CIUPM) for linear transformations with non-zero slope on the line. We show that there is a threshold constant $c$ depending only on the slope of the linear transformation such that there exists a CIUPM if and only if its support has a diameter at least as large as $c.$ Moreover, the CIUPM is unique up to translation if the diameter of the support equals $c.$
For a map of the unit interval with an indifferent fixed point, we prove an upper bound for the variance of all observables of $n$ variables $K:[0,1]^ntoR$ which are componentwise Lipschitz. The proof is based on coupling and decay of correlation properties of the map. We then give various applications of this inequality to the almost-sure central limit theorem, the kernel density estimation, the empirical measure and the periodogram.
