We investigate the critical endline of the finite temperature phase transition of QCD around the SU(3)-flavor symmetric point at zero chemical potential. We employ the renormalization-group improved Iwasaki gauge action and non-perturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson-clover fermion action. The critical endline is determined by using the intersection point of kurtosis, employing the multi-parameter, multi-ensemble reweighting method to calculate observables off the SU(3)-symmetric point, at the temporal size $N_{rm T}$=6 and lattice spacing as low as $a approx 0.19$ fm. We confirm that the slope of the critical endline takes the value of $-2$, and find that the second derivative is positive, at the SU(3)-flavor symmetric point on the Columbia plot parametrized with the strange quark mass $m_s$ and degenerated up-down quark mass $m_{rm l}$.
We present a lattice QCD based determination of the chiral phase transition temperature in QCD with two degenerate, massless quarks and a physical strange quark mass. We propose and calculate two novel estimators for the chiral transition temperature for several values of the light quark masses, corresponding to Goldstone pion masses in the range of $58~{rm MeV}lesssim m_pilesssim 163~{rm MeV}$. The chiral phase transition temperature is determined by extrapolating to vanishing pion mass using universal scaling analysis. Finite volume effects are controlled by extrapolating to the thermodynamic limit using spatial lattice extents in the range of $2.8$-$4.5$ times the inverse of the pion mass. Continuum extrapolations are carried out by using three different values of the lattice cut-off, corresponding to lattices with temporal extent $N_tau=6, 8$ and $12$. After thermodynamic, continuum and chiral extrapolations we find the chiral phase transition temperature $T_c^0=132^{+3}_{-6}$ MeV.
We have studied the 3-flavor, finite temperature, QCD phase transition with staggred fermions on an $ N_t=4$ lattice. By studying a variety of quark masses we have located the critical point, $m_c$, where the first order 3-flavor transition ends as lying in the region $0.32 le m_c le 0.35$ in lattice units
We study the finite temperature phase structure for three-flavor QCD with a focus on locating the critical point which separates crossover and first order phase transition region in the chiral regime of the Columbia plot. In this study, we employ the Iwasaki gauge action and the non-perturvatively O($a$) improved Wilson-Clover fermion action. We discuss the finite size scaling analysis including the mixing of magnetization-like and energy-like observables. We carry out the continuum extrapolation of the critical point using newly generated data at $N_{rm t}=8$, $10$ and estimate the upper bound of the critical pseudo-scalar meson mass $m_{rm PS,E} lesssim 170 {rm MeV}$ and the critical temperature $T_{rm E}=134(3){rm MeV}$. Our estimate of the upper bound is derived from the existence of the critical point as an edge of the 1st order phase transition while that of the staggered-type fermions is based on its absence.
We present the first determination of the binding energy of the $H$ dibaryon in the continuum limit of lattice QCD. The calculation is performed at five values of the lattice spacing $a$, using O($a$)-improved Wilson fermions at the SU(3)-symmetric point with $m_pi=m_Kapprox 420$ MeV. Energy levels are extracted by applying a variational method to correlation matrices of bilocal two-baryon interpolating operators computed using the distillation technique. Our analysis employs Luschers finite-volume quantization condition to determine the scattering phase shifts from the spectrum and vice versa, both above and below the two-baryon threshold. We perform global fits to the lattice spectra using parametrizations of the phase shift, supplemented by terms describing discretization effects, then extrapolate the lattice spacing to zero. The phase shift and the binding energy determined from it are found to be strongly affected by lattice artifacts. Our estimate of the binding energy in the continuum limit of three-flavor QCD is $B_H=3.97pm1.16_{rm stat}pm0.86_{rm syst}$ MeV.
We present the first results of the PACS-CS project which aims to simulate 2+1 flavor lattice QCD on the physical point with the nonperturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action and the Iwasaki gauge action. Numerical simulations are carried out at the lattice spacing of $a=0.0907(13)$fm on a $32^3times 64$ lattice with the use of the DDHMC algorithm to reduce the up-down quark mass. Further algorithmic improvements make possible the simulation whose ud quark mass is as light as the physical value. The resulting PS meson masses range from 702MeV down to 156MeV, which clearly exhibit the presence of chiral logarithms. An analysis of the PS meson sector with SU(3) ChPT reveals that the NLO corrections are large at the physical strange quark mass. In order to estimate the physical ud quark mass, we employ the SU(2) chiral analysis expanding the strange quark contributions analytically around the physical strange quark mass. The SU(2) LECs ${bar l}_3$ and ${bar l}_4$ are comparable with the recent estimates by other lattice QCD calculations. We determine the physical point together with the lattice spacing employing $m_pi$, $m_K$ and $m_Omega$ as input. The hadron spectrum extrapolated to the physical point shows an agreement with the experimental values at a few % level of statistical errors, albeit there remain possible cutoff effects. We also find that our results of $f_pi=134.0(4.2)$MeV, $f_K=159.4(3.1)$MeV and $f_K/f_pi=1.189(20)$ with the perturbative renormalization factors are compatible with the experimental values. For the physical quark masses we obtain $m_{rm ud}^msbar=2.527(47)$MeV and $m_{rm s}^msbar=72.72(78)$MeV extracted from the axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity with the perturbative renormalization factors.
