This paper is about geometric quantization of the Hitchin system. We quantize a Kahler form on the Hitchin moduli space (which is half the first Kahler form defined by Hitchin) by considering the Quillen bundle as the prequantum line bundle and modifying the Quillen metric using the Higgs field so that the curvature is proportional to the Kahler form. We show that this Kahler form is integral and the Quillen bundle descends as a prequantum line bundle on the moduli space. It is holomorphic and hence one can take holomorphic square integrable sections as the Hilbert space of quantization of the Hitchin moduli space.
In this note we quantize the usual symplectic (K{a}hler) form on the vortex moduli space by modifying the Quillen metric of the Quillen determinant line bundle.
Using Hitchins parameterization of the Hitchin-Teichmuller component of the $SL(n,mathbb{R})$ representation variety, we study the asymptotics of certain families of representations. In fact, for certain Higgs bundles in the $SL(n,mathbb{R})$-Hitchin component, we study the asymptotics of the Hermitian metric solving the Higgs bundle equations. This analysis is used to estimate the asymptotics of the corresponding family of flat connections as we scale the differentials by a real parameter. We consider Higgs fields that have only one holomorphic differential $q_n$ of degree $n$ or $q_{n-1}$ of degree $n-1.$ We also study the asymptotics of the associated family of equivariant harmonic maps to the symmetric space $SL(n,mathbb{R})/SO(n,mathbb{R})$ and relate it to recent work of Katzarkov, Noll, Pandit and Simpson.
We develop a complete Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence for twisted pairs on a compact Riemann surface X. The main novelty lies in a careful study of the the notion of polystability for pairs, required for having a bijective correspondence between solutions to the Hermite-Einstein equations, on one hand, and polystable pairs, on the other. Our results allow us to establish rigorously the homemomorphism between the moduli space of polystable G-Higgs bundles on X and the character variety for representations of the fundamental group of X in G. We also study in detail several interesting examples of the correspondence for particular groups and show how to significantly simplify the general stability condition in these cases.
We study the quantization of coupled Kahler-Einstein (CKE) metrics, namely we approximate CKE metrics by means of the canonical Bergman metrics, so called the ``balanced metrics. We prove the existence and weak convergence of balanced metrics for the negative first Chern class, while for the positive first Chern class, we introduce some algebro-geometric obstruction which interpolates between the Donaldson-Futaki invariant and Chow weight. Then we show the existence and weak convergence of balanced metrics on CKE manifolds under the vanishing of this obstruction. Moreover, restricted to the case when the automorphism group is discrete, we also discuss approximate solutions and a gradient flow method towards the smooth convergence.
It is shown that the heat operator in the Hall coherent state transform for a compact Lie group $K$ is related with a Hermitian connection associated to a natural one-parameter family of complex structures on $T^*K$. The unitary parallel transport of this connection establishes the equivalence of (geometric) quantizations of $T^*K$ for different choices of complex structures within the given family. In particular, these results establish a link between coherent state transforms for Lie groups and results of Hitchin and Axelrod, Della Pietra and Witten.
