In this paper, we present a generalization of the super-twisting algorithm for perturbed chains of integrators of arbitrary order. This Higher Order Super-Twisting (HOST) controller, which extends the approach of Moreno and als., is homegeneous with respect to a family of dilations and can be continuous. Its design is derived from a first result obtained for pure chains of integrators, the latter relying on a geometric condition introduced by the authors. The complete result is established using a homogeneous strict Lyapunov function which is explicitely constructed. The effectiveness of the controller is finally illustrated with simulations for a chain of integrator of order four, first pure then perturbed, where we compare the performances of two HOST controllers.

We present a family of modified Hermite integrators of arbitrary order possessing superior behaviour for the integration of Keplerian and near-Keplerian orbits. After recounting the derivation of Hermite N-body integrators of arbitrary order, we derive a corrector expression that minimises integrated errors in the argument of periapsis for any such integrator. In addition to providing an alternate derivation of the modified corrector for the 4th-order Hermite integrator, we focus on improved correctors for the 6th- and 8th-order integrators previously featured in the literature. We present a set of numerical examples and find that the higher-order schemes improve performance, even when considering their slightly higher cost in floating point operations. The algorithms presented herein hold promise for systems dominated by central potentials, such as planetary systems and the centres of galaxies. Existing Hermite integrators of any order can be modified to use the expressions presented here with minimal effort. Accordingly the schemes presented herein can be easily implemented on massively parallel architectures.

Differentiation is an important task in control, observation and fault detection. Levants differentiator is unique, since it is able to estimate exactly and robustly the derivatives of a signal with a bounded high-order derivative. However, the convergence time, although finite, grows unboundedly with the norm of the initial differentiation error, making it uncertain when the estimated derivative is exact. In this paper we propose an extension of Levants differentiator so that the worst case convergence time can be arbitrarily assigned independently of the initial condition, i.e. the estimation converges in emph{Fixed-Time}. We propose also a family of continuous differentiators and provide a unified Lyapunov framework for analysis and design.

We introduce a conic embedding condition that gives a hierarchy of cones and cone programs. This condition is satisfied by a large number of convex cones including the cone of copositive matrices, the cone of completely positive matrices, and all symmetric cones. We discuss properties of the intermediate cones and conic programs in the hierarchy. In particular, we demonstrate how this embedding condition gives rise to a family of cone programs that interpolates between LP, SOCP, and SDP. This family of $k$th order cones may be realized either as cones of $n$-by-$n$ symmetric matrices or as cones of $n$-variate even degree polynomials. The cases $k = 1, 2, n$ then correspond to LP, SOCP, SDP; or, in the language of polynomial optimization, to DSOS, SDSOS, SOS.
To obtain precise motion control of wafer stages, an adaptive neural network and fractional-order super-twisting control strategy is proposed. Based on sliding mode control (SMC), the proposed controller aims to address two challenges in SMC: 1) reducing the chattering phenomenon, and 2) attenuating the influence of model uncertainties and disturbances. For the first challenge, a fractional-order terminal sliding mode surface and a super-twisting algorithm are integrated into the SMC design. To attenuate uncertainties and disturbances, an add-on control structure based on the radial basis function (RBF) neural network is introduced. Stability analysis of the closed-loop control system is provided. Finally, experiments on a wafer stage testbed system are conducted, which proves that the proposed controller can robustly improve the tracking performance in the presence of uncertainties and disturbances compared to conventional and previous controllers.
We consider the problem of flexible modeling of higher order Markov chains when an upper bound on the order of the chain is known but the true order and nature of the serial dependence are unknown. We propose Bayesian nonparametric methodology based on conditional tensor factorizations, which can characterize any transition probability with a specified maximal order. The methodology selects the important lags and captures higher order interactions among the lags, while also facilitating calculation of Bayes factors for a variety of hypotheses of interest. We design efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms for posterior computation, allowing for uncertainty in the set of important lags to be included and in the nature and order of the serial dependence. The methods are illustrated using simulation experiments and real world applications.
