The quark production in classical color fields is investigated with a focus on the induction of an electromagnetic current by produced quarks. We show that the color SU(2) and the SU(3) theories lead significantly different results for the electromagnetic current. In uniform SU(2) color fields, the net electromagnetic current is not generated, while in SU(3) color fields the net current is induced depending on the color direction of background fields. Also the numerical study of the quark production in inhomogeneous color fields is done. Motivated by gauge field configurations provided by the color glass condensate framework, we introduce an ensemble of randomly distributed color electric fluxtubes. The spectrum of photons emitted from the quarks by a classical process is shown.

The Euler-Heisenberg effective Lagrangian is used to obtain general expressions for electric and magnetic fields induced by non-linearity, to leading order in the non-linear expansion parameter, and for quasistatic situations. These expressions are then used to compute the induced electromagnetic fields due to a spherical shell with uniform charge distribution on the surface, in the presence of an external constant magnetic field. The induced electric field contains several multipole terms with unusual angular dependences. Most importantly, the leading term of the induced magnetic field is due to an induced magnetic dipole moment.
We perform an analytic calculation of the color fields in heavy-ion collisions by considering the collision of longitudinally extended nuclei in the dilute limit of the Color Glass Condensate effective field theory of high-energy QCD. Based on general analytic expressions for the color fields in the future light cone, we evaluate the rapidity profile of the transverse pressure within a simple specific model of the nuclear collision geometry and compare our results to 3+1D classical Yang-Mills simulations.
Neutron production induced by ($alpha$,n) reactions is important in various scenarios. One of the most relevant ones is related to underground dark matter experiments, where the neutrons produced by the $alpha$-decay from radioactive contaminants in the detector materials can generate an irreducible background, limiting the sensitivity of the experiment. A precise estimate of the background due to these neutrons is crucial for the experiments currently taking data and for the design of the next generation detectors. In this work, we prove that Geant4 can be used to calculate neutron yields and energy spectra induced by $alpha$-decay. These neutrons are produced according to the information compiled in data libraries originally written in the ENDF-6 format. In this article we also review the different databases available, showing the differences and similarities among them. Finally, we compare several Geant4 neutron production yields and spectra with experimental data and other codes.
Based on the relation between a plane phased array and plane waves we show that a spherical current layer or a current sphere proportional to a multipole electric field and situated in a uniform medium generates the same multipole field in all space. We calculate TE and TM multipoles inside and outside the spherical layer. The $l=1$ TM multipoles are localized at the origin with a focal spot with full width at half maximum of $0.4lambda$ in the lateral axes and $0.58lambda$ in the vertical axis. The multipole fields near the origin are prescriptions for the current distributions required to generate those multipole fields. A spherical layer can couple to a multipole source since the oscillation of the electrons in the layer due to the multipole field generates the multipole field in all space, which in turn can drive the multipole currents. Exciting a multipole in a polarizable sphere or spherical layer can couple it to another polarizable sphere or spherical layer.

We calculate the charge quadrupole and magnetic octupole moments of baryons using a group theoretical approach based on broken SU(6) spin-flavor symmetry. The latter is an approximate symmetry of the QCD Lagrangian which becomes exact in the large color N_c limit. Spin-flavor symmetry breaking is induced by one-, two-, and three-quark terms in the electromagnetic current operator. Two- and three-quark currents provide the leading contributions for higher multipole moments, despite being of higher order in an 1/N_c expansion. Our formalism leads to relations between N --> N* transition multipole moments and nucleon ground state properties. We compare our results to experimental quadrupole and octupole transition moments extracted from measured helicity amplitudes.
