We give integral equations for the generating function of the cummulants of the work done in a quench for the Kondo model in the thermodynamic limit. Our approach is based on an extension of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz to non-equilibrium situations. This extension is made possible by use of a large $N$ expansion of the overlap between Bethe states. In particular, we make use of the Slavnov determinant formula for such overlaps, passing to a function-space representation of the Slavnov matrix . We leave the analysis of the resulting integral equations to future work.
The Jaynes-Cummings-Gaudin model describes a collection of $n$ spins coupled to an harmonic oscillator. It is known to be integrable, so one can define a moment map which associates to each point in phase-space the list of values of the $n+1$ conserved Hamiltonians. We identify all the critical points of this map and we compute the corresponding quadratic normal forms, using the Lax matrix representation of the model. The normal coordinates are constructed by a procedure which appears as a classical version of the Bethe Ansatz used to solve the quantum model. We show that only elliptic or focus-focus singularities are present in this model, which provides an interesting example of a symplectic toric action with singularities. To explore these, we study in detail the degeneracies of the spectral curves for the $n=1$ and $n=2$ cases. This gives a complete picture for the image of the momentum map (IMM) and the associated bifurcation diagram. For $n=2$ we found in particular some lines of rank 1 which lie, for one part, on the boundary of the IMM, where they behave like an edge separating two faces, and which go, for another part, inside the IMM.
Conduction electrons coupled to a mesoscopic superconducting island hosting Majorana bound states have been shown to display a topological Kondo effect with robust non-Fermi liquid correlations. With $M$ bound states coupled to $M$ leads, this is an SO($M$) Kondo problem, with the asymptotic high and low energy theories known from bosonization and conformal field theory studies. Here we complement these approaches by analyzing the Bethe ansatz equations describing the exact solution of these models at all energy scales. We apply our findings to obtain nonperturbative results on the thermodynamics of $Mrightarrow M-2$ crossovers induced by tunnel couplings between adjacent Majorana bound states.
The collective and purely relaxational dynamics of quantum many-body systems after a quench at temperature $T=0$, from a disordered state to various phases is studied through the exact solution of the quantum Langevin equation of the spherical and the $O(n)$-model in the limit $ntoinfty$. The stationary state of the quantum dynamics is shown to be a non-equilibrium state. The quantum spherical and the quantum $O(n)$-model for $ntoinfty$ are in the same dynamical universality class. The long-time behaviour of single-time and two-time correlation and response functions is analysed and the universal exponents which characterise quantum coarsening and quantum ageing are derived. The importance of the non-Markovian long-time memory of the quantum noise is elucidated by comparing it with an effective Markovian noise having the same scaling behaviour and with the case of non-equilibrium classical dynamics.
We find the statistical weight of excitations at long times following a quench in the Kondo problem. The weights computed are directly related to the overlap between initial and final states that are, respectively, states close to the Kondo ground state and states close to the normal metal ground state. The overlap is computed making use of the Slavnov approach, whereby a functional representation method is adopted, in order to obtain definite expressions.
We extend the exact periodic Bethe Ansatz solution for one-dimensional bosons and fermions with delta-interaction and arbitrary internal degrees of freedom to the case of hard wall boundary conditions. We give an analysis of the ground state properties of fermionic systems with two internal degrees of freedom, including expansions of the ground state energy in the weak and strong coupling limits in the repulsive and attractive regimes.
