The high-field ground state of the competing-spin-chain compound Cs2Cu2Mo3O12 with the ferromagnetic first-nearest-neighbor J1=-93 K and the antiferromagnetic second-nearest-neighbor J2 = +33 K was investigated by 133Cs-NMR. A divergence of T1-1 and a peak-splitting in spectra were observed at TN = 1.85 K, indicating the existence of a field-induced long range magnetic order. In the paramagnetic region above 4 K, T1-1 showed a power-law temperature dependence T2K-1. The exponent K was strongly field-dependent, suggesting the possibility of the spin-nematic Tomonaga Luttinger Liquid state.

We consider the calculation of ground-state expectation values for the non-Hermitian Z(N) spin chain described by free parafermions. For N=2 the model reduces to the quantum Ising chain in a transverse field with open boundary conditions. Use is made of the Hellmann-Feynman theorem to obtain exact results for particular single site and nearest-neighbour ground-state expectation values for general N which are valid for sites deep inside the chain. These results are tested numerically for N=3, along with how they change as a function of distance from the boundary.

S = 1/2 competing spin chain compound Cs2Cu2Mo3O12 has two dominant exchange interactions of the nearest neighbouring ferromagnetic J1= 93 K and the second nearest neighbouring antiferromagnetic J2= +33 K, and is expected to show the nematic Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid (TLL) state under high magnetic field region. The recent theoretical study by Sato et al. has shown that in the nematic TLL state, the spin fluctuations are expected to be highly anisotropic, that is, its transverse component is suppressed. Our previous NMR study on the present system showed that the dominant contribution to nuclear spin relaxation comes from the longitudinal component. In order to conclude that the transverse component of spin fluctuations is suppressed, the knowledge of hyperfine coupling is indispensable. This article is solely devoted to investigate the hyperfine coupling of 133Cs-NMR site to prove that the anisotropic part of hyperfine coupling, which connects the nuclear spin relaxation with the transverse spin fluctuations is considerably large to be A_an=+770 Oe/mu_B.
We introduce a new two-dimensional model with diagonal four spin exchange and an exactly knownground-state. Using variational ansaetze and exact diagonalisation we calculate upper and lower bounds for the critical coupling of the model. Both for this model and for the Shastry-Sutherland model we study periodic systems up to system size 6x6.
Spin ices, frustrated magnetic materials analogous to common water ice, are exemplars of high frustration in three dimensions. Recent experimental studies of the low-temperature properties of the paradigmatic Dy$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$ spin ice material, in particular whether the predicted transition to long-range order occurs, raise questions as per the currently accepted microscopic model of this system. In this work, we combine Monte Carlo simulations and mean-field theory calculations to analyze data from magnetization, elastic neutron scattering and specific heat measurements on Dy$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$. We also reconsider the possible importance of the nuclear specific heat, $C_{rm nuc}$, in Dy$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$. We find that $C_{rm nuc}$ is not entirely negligible below a temperature $sim 0.5$ K and must be taken into account in a quantitative analysis of the calorimetric data of this compound below that temperature. We find that small effective exchange interactions compete with the magnetostatic dipolar interaction responsible for the main spin ice phenomenology. This causes an unexpected refrustration of the long-range order that would be expected from the incompletely self-screened dipolar interaction and which positions the material at the boundary between two competing classical long-range ordered ground states. This allows for the manifestation of new physical low-temperature phenomena in Dy$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$, as exposed by recent specific heat measurements. We show that among the four most likely causes for the observed upturn of the specific heat at low temperature -- an exchange-induced transition to long-range order, quantum non-Ising (transverse) terms in the effective spin Hamiltonian, the nuclear hyperfine contribution and random disorder -- only the last appears to be reasonably able to explain the calorimetric data.
Results are given for the ground state energy and excitation spectrum of a simple $N$-state $Z_N$ spin chain described by free parafermions. The model is non-Hermitian for $N ge 3$ with a real ground state energy and a complex excitation spectrum. Although having a simpler Hamiltonian than the superintegrable chiral Potts model, the model is seen to share some properties with it, e.g., the specific heat exponent $alpha=1-2/N$ and the anisotropic correlation length exponents $ u_parallel =1$ and $ u_perp=2/N$.
