We report nuclear magnetic resonance Knight shift data in the heavy fermion material CeIrIn5 at fields up to 30 T. The Knight shift of the In displays a strong anomaly, and we analyze the results using two different interpretations. We find that the Kondo lattice coherence temperature and the effective mass of the heavy electrons remains largely unaffected by the magnetic field, despite the fact that the Zeeman energy is on the order of the coherence temperature.

We report a Determinant Quantum Monte Carlo investigation which quantifies the behavior of the susceptibility and the entropy in the framework of the periodic Anderson model (PAM), focussing on the evolution with different degree of conduction electron (c) -local moment (f) hybridization. These results capture the behavior observed in several experiments, including the universal behavior of the NMR Knight shift anomaly below the crossover temperature, $T^{ast}$. We find that $T^{ast}$ is a measure of the onset of c-f correlations and grows with increasing hybridization. These results suggest that the NMR Knight shift and spin-lattice relaxation rate measurements in non-Fermi liquid materials are strongly influenced by temperature-dependent hybridization processes. Our results provide a microscopic basis for the phenomenological two-fluid model of Kondo lattice behavior, and its evolution with pressure and temperature.

We report a Dynamical Cluster Approximation (DCA) investigation of the doped periodic Anderson model (PAM) to explain the universal scaling in the Knight shift anomaly predicted by the phenomenological two-fluid model and confirmed in many heavy-fermion compounds. We calculate the quantitative evolution of the orbital-dependent magnetic susceptibility and reproduce correctly the two-fluid prediction in a large range of doping and hybridization. Our results confirm the presence of a temperature/energy scale $T^{ast}$ for the universal scaling and show distinctive behavors of the Knight shift anomaly in response to other orders at low temperatures. However, comparison with the temperature evolution of the calculated resistivity and quasiparticle spectral peak indicates a different characteristic temperature from $T^*$, in contradiction with the experimental observation in CeCoIn$_5$ and other compounds. This reveals a missing piece in the current model calculations in explaining the two-fluid phenomenology.
URu$_2$Si$_2$ exhibits an anomalous peak in the nonlinear magnetic susceptibility at the hidden order transition. In order to investigate this anomaly, we conducted direct magnetization measurements and investigated the detailed angular dependence of the $^{29}$Si nuclear magnetic resonance Knight shift tensor. We find that the nonlinear magnetization is smaller than previously reported, and the analogous nonlinear Knight shift tensor is below the detection limit. Our results suggest that the magnitude of the anomalous peak is sample dependent.
Based on analytical and numerical approaches, we investigate thermodynamic properties of CuSe2O5 at high magnetic fields which is a candidate for the strong intra-chain interaction in quasi one-dimensional (1D) quantum magnets. Magnetic behavior of the system can be described by the 1D spin-1/2 XXZ model in the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. Un- der these circumstances, there is one quantum critical field in this compound. Below the quantum critical field the spin chain system is in the gapless Luttinger liquid (LL) regime, whereas above it one observes a crossover to the gapped saturation magnetic phase. Indications on the thermodynamic curves confirm the occurrence of such a phase transition. The main characteristics of the LL phase are gapless and spin-spin correlation functions decay algebraic. The effects of zero-temperature quantum phase transition are observed even at rather high temperatures in comparison with the counterpart compounds. In addition, we calculate the Wilson ratio in the model. The Wilson ratio at a fixed temperature remains almost independent of the field in the LL region. In the vicinity of the quantum critical field, the Wilson ratio increases and exhibits anomalous enhancement.
We report 73Ge-NMR and NQR results for ferromagnetic (FM) superconductor URhGe. The magnitude and direction of the internal field, H_int, and parameters of the electric field gradient at the Ge site were determined experimentally. Using powdered polycrystalline samples oriented by different methods, the field dependences of NMR shift and nuclear spin relaxation rates for H_0 // c (easy axis) and H_0 // b were obtained. From the NMR shifts for H_0 // b, we confirmed a gradual suppression of the Curie temperature and observed a phase separation near the spin reorientation. The observation of the phase separation gives microscopic evidence that the spin reorientation under H_0 // b is of first order at low temperatures. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T_1 indicates that the magnetic fluctuations are suppressed for H_0 // c, whereas the fluctuations remain strongly for H_0 // b. The enhancements of both 1/T_1T and the nuclear spin-spin relaxation rate 1/T_2 for H_0 // b toward the spin reorientation field suggest that the field-induced superconductivity in URhGe emerges under the magnetic fluctuations along the b axis and the c axis.
