We study the existence and stability of multibreathers in Klein-Gordon chains with interactions that are not restricted to nearest neighbors. We provide a general framework where such long range effects can be taken into consideration for arbitrarily varying (as a function of the node distance) linear couplings between arbitrary sets of neighbors in the chain. By examining special case examples such as three-site breathers with next-nearest-neighbors, we find {it crucial} modifications to the nearest-neighbor picture of one-dimensional oscillators being excited either in- or anti-phase. Configurations with nontrivial phase profiles, arise, as well as spontaneous symmetry breaking (pitchfork) bifurcations, when these states emerge from (or collide with) the ones with standard (0 or $pi$) phase difference profiles. Similar bifurcations, both of the supercritical and of the subcritical type emerge when examining four-site breathers with either next-nearest-neighbor or even interactions with the three-nearest one-dimensional neighbors. The latter setting can be thought of as a prototype for the two-dimensional building block, namely a square of lattice nodes, which is also examined. Our analytical predictions are found to be in very good agreement with numerical results.

In this work, we study the existence of low amplitude four-site phase-shift multibreathers for small values of the coupling $epsilon$ in Klein-Gordon (KG) chains with interactions longer than the classical nearest-neighbour ones. In the proper parameter regimes, the considered lattices bear connections to models beyond one spatial dimension, namely the so-called zigzag lattice, as well as the two-dimensional square lattice. We examine initially the persistence conditions of the system, in order to seek for vortex-like waveforms. Although this approach provides useful insights, due to the degeneracy of these solutions, it does not allow us to determine if they constitute true solutions of our system. In order to overcome this obstacle, we follow a different route. In the case of the zigzag configuration, by means of a Lyapunov-Schmidt decomposition, we are able to establish that the bifurcation equation for our model can be considered, in the small energy and small coupling regime, as a perturbation of a corresponding non-local discrete nonlinear Schrodinger (NL-dNLS) equation. There, nonexistence results of degenerate phase-shift discrete solitons can be demonstrated by exploiting the expansion of a suitable density current of the NL-dNLS, obtained in recent literature. Finally, briefly considering a one-dimensional model bearing similarities to the square lattice, we conclude that the above strategy is not efficient for the proof of the existence or nonexistence of vortices due to the higher degeneracy of this configuration.

Spin ensembles coupled to optical cavities provide a powerful platform for engineering synthetic quantum matter. Recently, we demonstrated that cavity mediated infinite range interactions can induce fast scrambling in a Heisenberg $XXZ$ spin chain (Phys. Rev. Research {bf 2}, 043399 (2020)). In this work, we analyze the kaleidoscope of quantum phases that emerge in this system from the interplay of these interactions. Employing both analytical spin-wave theory as well as numerical DMRG calculations, we find that there is a large parameter regime where the continuous $U(1)$ symmetry of this model is spontaneously broken and the ground state of the system exhibits $XY$ order. This kind of symmetry breaking and the consequent long range order is forbidden for short range interacting systems by the Mermin-Wagner theorem. Intriguingly, we find that the $XY$ order can be induced by even an infinitesimally weak infinite range interaction. Furthermore, we demonstrate that in the $U(1)$ symmetry broken phase, the half chain entanglement entropy violates the area law logarithmically. Finally, we discuss a proposal to verify our predictions in state-of-the-art quantum emulators.
We consider the energy landscape of a dissipative Klein-Gordon lattice with a $phi^4$ on-site potential. Our analysis is based on suitable energy arguments, combined with a discrete version of the L{}ojasiewicz inequality, in order to justify the convergence to a single, nontrivial equilibrium for all initial configurations of the lattice. Then, global bifurcation theory is explored, to illustrate that in the discrete regime all linear states lead to nonlinear generalizations of equilibrium states. Direct numerical simulations reveal the rich structure of the equilibrium set, consisting of non-trivial topological (kink-shaped) interpolations between the adjacent minima of the on-site potential, and the wealth of dynamical convergence possibilities. These dynamical evolution results also provide insight on the potential stability of the equilibrium branches, and glimpses of the emerging global bifurcation structure, elucidating the role of the interplay between discreteness, nonlinearity and dissipation.
Klein-Gordon equations describe the dynamics of waves/particles in sub-atomic scales. For nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations, their breather solutions are usually known as time periodic solutions with the vanishing spatial-boundary condition. The existence of breather solution is known for the Sine-Gordon equations, while the Sine-Gordon equations are also known as the soliton equation. The breather solutions is a certain kind of time periodic solutions that are not only play an essential role in the bridging path to the chaotic dynamics, but provide multi-dimensional closed loops inside phase space. In this paper, based on the high-precision numerical scheme, the appearance of breather mode is studied for nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations with periodic boundary condition. The spatial periodic boundary condition is imposed, so that the breathing-type solution in our scope is periodic with respect both to time and space. In conclusion, the existence condition of space-time periodic solution is presented, and the compact manifolds inside the infinite-dimensional dynamical system is shown. The space-time breather solutions of Klein-Gordon equations can be a fundamental building block for the sub-atomic nonlinear dynamics.

The generalized perturbative reduction method is used to find the two-component vector breather solution of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. It is shown that the nonlinear pulse oscillates with the sum and difference of frequencies and wave numbers in the region of the carrier wave frequency and wave number. Explicit analytical expressions for the profile and parameters of the nonlinear pulse are obtained. In the particular case, the vector breather coincides with the vector $0pi$ pulse of self-induced transparency.
