The effect of pressure on the crystalline structure and superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of the 111-type Na1-xFeAs system using in situ high pressure synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction and diamond anvil cell techniques is studied. A pressure-induced tetragonal to tetragonal isostructural phase transition was found. The systematic evolution of the FeAs4 tetrahedron as a function of pressure based on Rietveld refinements on the powder x-ray diffraction patterns was obtained. The non-monotonic Tc(P) behavior of Na1-xFeAs is found to correlate with the anomalies of the distance between the anion (As) and the iron layer as well as the bond angle between As-Fe-As for the two tetragonal phases. This behavior provides the key structural information in understanding the origin of the pressure dependence of Tc for 111-type iron pnictide superconductors. A pressure-induced structural phase transition is also observed at 20 GPa.

By means of synchrotron X-ray diffraction, we studied the effect of high pressure, P, up to 13 GPa on the room temperature crystal structure of superconducting CaC6. In this P range, no change of the pristine space group symmetry, textit{R=3m}, is found. However, at 9 GPa, i.e. close to the critical value at which a large T_c reduction was reported recently, we observed a compressibility jump concomitant to a large broadening of Bragg peaks. The reversibility of both effects upon depressurization and symmetry arguments give evidence of an order-disorder phase transition of second order, presumably associated with the Ca sublattice, which provides a full account for the above Tc reduction.

Topological nodal-line semimetals (TNLSMs) are materials whose conduction and valence bands cross each other, meeting a topologically-protected closed loop rather than discrete points in the Brillouin zone (BZ). The anticipated properties for TNLSMs include drumhead-like nearly flat surface states, unique Landau energy levels, special collective modes, long-range Coulomb interactions, or the possibility of realizing high-temperature superconductivity. Recently, SrAs3 has been theoretically proposed and then experimentally confirmed to be a TNLSM. Here, we report high-pressure experiments on SrAs3, identifying a Lifshitz transition below 1 GPa and a superconducting transition accompanied by a structural phase transition above 20 GPa. A topological crystalline insulator (TCI) state is revealed by means of density functional theory (DFT) calculations on the emergent high-pressure phase. As the counterpart of topological insulators, TCIs possess metallic boundary states protected by crystal symmetry, rather than time reversal. In consideration of topological surface states (TSSs) and helical spin texture observed in the high-pressure state of SrAs3, the superconducting state may be induced in the surface states, and is most likely topologically nontrivial, making pressurized SrAs3 a strong candidate for topological superconductor.
The effect of pressure on superconductivity of 111 type NaxFeAs is investigated through temperature dependent electrical resistance measurement in a diamond anvil cell. The superconducting transition temperature (Tc) increases from 26 K to a maximum 31 K as the pressure increases from ambient to 3 GPa. Further increasing pressure suppresses Tc drastically. The behavior of pressure tuned Tc in NaxFeAs is much different from that in LixFeAs, although they have the same Cu2Sb type structure

We report on two fold increase in superconducting transition temperature of La3Co4Sn13 by substituting indium at the tin site. The transition temperature of this skutterudite is observed to increase from 2.5 K to 5.1 K for 10 % indium substituted sample. The band structure and density of states calculations also indicate such a possibility. The compounds exhibit type - II superconductivity and the values of lower critical field (Hc1), upper critical field (Hc2), Ginzburg - Landau coherence length , penetration depth and GL parameter are estimated to be 0.0028 T, 0.68 T, 21.6 nm, 33.2 nm and 1.53 respectively for La3 Co4Sn11.7In1.3. Hydrostatic external pressure leads to decrease in transition temperature and the calculated pressure coefficient is -0.311 K/GPa . Flux pinning and vortex activation energies also improved with indium addition. Only positive frequencies are observed in phonon dispersion curve that relate to the absence of charge density wave or structural instability in the normal state.
SrTiO$_{3}$, a quantum paraelectric, becomes a metal with a superconducting instability after removal of an extremely small number of oxygen atoms. It turns into a ferroelectric upon substitution of a tiny fraction of strontium atoms with calcium. The two orders may be accidental neighbors or intimately connected, as in the picture of quantum critical ferroelectricity. Here, we show that in Sr$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$TiO$_{3-delta}$ ($0.002<x<0.009$, $delta<0.001$) the ferroelectric order coexists with dilute metallicity and its superconducting instability in a finite window of doping. At a critical carrier density, which scales with the Ca content, a quantum phase transition destroys the ferroelectric order. We detect an upturn in the normal-state scattering and a significant modification of the superconducting dome in the vicinity of this quantum phase transition. The enhancement of the superconducting transition temperature with calcium substitution documents the role played by ferroelectric vicinity in the precocious emergence of superconductivity in this system, restricting possible theoretical scenarios for pairing.
