To identify the superconducting gap symmetry in CeCoIn5 (Tc=2.3 K), we performed angle-resolved specific heat (C_phi) measurements in a field rotated around the c-axis down to very low temperatures 0.05Tc and detailed theoretical calculations. In a field of 1 T, a sign reversal of the fourfold angular oscillation in C_phi has been observed at T ~ 0.1Tc on entering a quasiclassical regime where the maximum of C_phi corresponds to the antinodal direction, coinciding with the angle-resolved density of states (ADOS) calculation. The C_phi behavior, which exhibits minima along [110] directions, unambiguously allows us to conclude d_{x^2-y^2} symmetry of this system. The ADOS-quasiclassical region is confined to a narrow T and H domain within T/Tc ~ 0.1 and 1.5 T (0.13Hc2).

To identify the superconducting gap structure in URu2Si2 we perform field-angle-dependent specific heat measurements for the two principal orientations in addition to field rotations, and theoretical analysis based on microscopic calculations. The Sommerfeld coefficient gamma(H)s in the mixed state exhibit distinctively different field-dependence. This comes from point nodes and substantial Pauli paramagnetic effect of URu2Si2. These two features combined give rise to a consistent picture of superconducting properties, including a possible first order transition of Hc2 at low temperatures.
The thermal conductivity $kappa$ of the heavy-fermion superconductor CeIrIn$_5$ was measured as a function of temperature down to $T_c$/8, for current directions perpendicular ($J parallel a$) and parallel ($J parallel c$) to the tetragonal c axis. For $J parallel a$, a sizable residual linear term $kappa_0 / T$ is observed, as previously, which confirms the presence of line nodes in the superconducting gap. For $J parallel c$, on the other hand, $kappa / T to 0$ as $T to 0$. The resulting precipitous decline in the anisotropy ratio $kappa_c / kappa_a$ at low temperature rules out a gap structure with line nodes running along the c-axis, such as the d-wave state favoured for CeCoIn$_5$, and instead points to a hybrid gap of $E_g$ symmetry. It therefore appears that two distinct superconducting states are realized in the Ce$M$In$_5$ family.
We consider the lifetime of quasi-particles in a d-wave superconductor due to scattering from antiferromagnetic spin-fluctuations, and explicitly separate the contribution from Umklapp processes which determines the electrical conductivity. Results for the temperature dependence of the total scattering rate and the Umklapp scattering rate are compared with relaxation rates obtained from thermal and microwave conductivity measurements, respectively.

The three-dimensional electronic structure and Ce 4f electrons of the heavy fermion superconductor CePt2In7 is investigated. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy using variable photon energy establishes the existence of quasi-two and three dimensional Fermi surface topologies. Temperature-dependent 4d-4f on-resonance photoemission spectroscopies reveal that heavy quasiparticle bands begin to form at a temperature well above the characteristic (coherence) temperature T*. T* emergence may be closely related to crystal electric field splitting, particularly the low-lying heavy band formed by crystal electric field splitting.
Quantum criticality in the normal and superconducting state of the heavy-fermion metal CeCoIn$_5$ is studied by measurements of the magnetic Gr{u}neisen ratio, $Gamma_H$, and specific heat in different field orientations and temperatures down to 50 mK. Universal temperature over magnetic field scaling of $Gamma_H$ in the normal state indicates a hidden quantum critical point at zero field. Within the superconducting state the quasiparticle entropy at constant temperature increases upon reducing the field towards zero, providing additional evidence for zero-field quantum criticality.
