In a recent manuscript (arXiv:0710.4917v2), Jones-Smith et al. attempt to use the well-established box-counting technique for fractal analysis to demonstrate conclusively that fractal criteria are not useful for authentication. Here, in response to what we view to be an extremely simplistic misrepresentation of our earlier work by Jones-Smith et al., we reiterate our position regarding the potential of fractal analysis for artwork authentication. We also point out some of the flaws in the analysis presented in by Jones-Smith et al.

The uniqueness issue of SDE decomposition theory proposed by Ao and his co-workers has recently been discussed. A comprehensive study to investigate connections among different landscape theories [J. Chem. Phys. 144, 094109 (2016)] has pointed out that the decomposition is generally not unique, while Ao et al. (arXiv:1603.07927v1) argues that such conclusions are incorrect because of the missing boundary conditions. In this comment, we will combine literatures research and concrete examples to show that the concrete and effective boundary conditions have not been proposed to guarantee the uniqueness, hence the arguments in [arXiv:1603.07927v1] are not sufficient. Moreover, we show that the uniqueness of the O-U process decomposition referred by YTA paper is unable to serve as a counterexample to ZLs result since additional assumptions have been made implicitly beyond the original SDE decomposition framework, which cannot be applied to general nonlinear cases. Some other issues such as the failure of gradient expansion method will also be discussed. Our demonstration contributes to better understanding of the relevant papers as well as the SDE decomposition theory.

It is shown that criticism of my paper arXiv:0801.0656 Phys. Rev. Lett, vol. 101, 163202 (2008) by the authors of Comment arXiv:0810.3243v1 is wrong and that their main arguments are in contradiction with established concepts of statistical physics.
We use the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) to study the electrical discharge current fluctuations in plasma and show that it has multifractal properties and behaves as a weak anti-correlated process. Comparison of the MF-DFA results for the original series with those for the shuffled and surrogate series shows that correlation of the fluctuations is responsible for multifractal nature of the electrical discharge current.

In a recent paper Castro-Neto and Jones argue that because the observability of quantum Griffiths-McCoy effects in metals is controlled by non-universal quantities, the quantum Griffiths-McCoy scenario may be a viable explanation for the non-fermi-liquid behavior observed in heavy fermion compounds. In this Comment we point out that the important non-universal quantity is the damping of the spin dynamics by the metallic electrons; quantum Griffiths-McCoy effects occur only if this is parametrically weak relative to other scales in the problem, i.e. if the spins are decoupled from the carriers. This suggests that in heavy fermion materials, where the Kondo effect leads to a strong carrier-spin coupling, quantum Griffiths-McCoy effects are unlikely to occur.

It is shown that there is bi-stability in a two dimensional system consisting of non interacting magnetic nanoparticles with equal uniaxial anisotropies. It is also shown that bi-stability still remains in three dimensions. The only consideration is that the applied magnetic field has to be perpendicular to the anisotropy axis.
