Choosing the three phenomenological models of the dynamical cosmological term $Lambda$, viz., $Lambda sim (dot a/a)^2$, $Lambda sim {ddot a/a}$ and $Lambda sim rho$ where $a$ is the cosmic scale factor, it has been shown by the method of numerical analysis that the three models are equivalent for the flat Universe $k=0$. The evolution plots for dynamical cosmological term $Lambda$ vs. time $t$ and also the cosmic scale factor $a$ vs. $t$ are drawn here for $k=0, +1$. A qualitative analysis has been made from the plots which supports the idea of inflation and hence expanding Universe.

In this paper the scalar-tensor theory of gravity is assumed to describe the evolution of the universe and the gravitational scalar $phi$ is ascribed to play the role of inflaton. The theory is characterized by the specified coupling function $omega(phi)$ and the cosmological function $lambda(phi)$. The function $lambda(phi)$ is nearly constant for $0<phi<0.1$ and $lambda(1)=0$. The functions $lambda(phi)$ and $omega(phi)$ provide a double-well potential for the motion of $phi(t)$. Inflation commences and ends naturally by the dynamics of the scalar field. The energy density of matter increases steadily during inflation. When the constant $Gamma$ in the action is determined by the present matter density, the temperature at the end of inflation is of the order of $10^{14} GeV$ in no need of reheating. Furthermore, the gravitational scalar is just the cold dark matter that men seek for.
We study oscillatory universes within the context of Loop Quantum Cosmology. We make a comparative study of flat and positively curved universes sourced by scalar fields with either positive or negative potentials. We investigate how oscillating universes can set the initial conditions for successful slow-roll inflation, while ensuring that the semi-classical bounds are satisfied. We observe rich oscillatory dynamics with negative potentials, although it is difficult to respect the semi-classical bounds in models of this type.
By allowing torsion into the gravitational dynamics one can promote the cosmological constant, $Lambda$, to a dynamical variable in a class of quasi-topological theories. In this paper we perform a mini-superspace quantization of these theories in the connection representation. If $Lambda$ is kept fixed, the solution is a delta-normalizable version of the Chern-Simons (CS) state, which is the dual of the Hartle and Hawking and Vilenkin wave-functions. We find that the CS state solves the Wheeler-DeWitt equation also if $Lambda$ is rendered dynamical by an Euler quasi-topological invariant, {it in the parity-even branch of the theory}. In the absence of an infra-red (IR) cut-off, the CS state suggests the marginal probability $P(Lambda)=delta(Lambda)$. Should there be an IR cutoff (for whatever reason) the probability is sharply peaked at the cut off. In the parity-odd branch, however, we can still find the CS state as a particular (but not most general) solution, but further work is needed to sharpen the predictions. For the theory based on the Pontryagin invariant (which only has a parity-odd branch) the CS wave function no longer is a solution to the constraints. We find the most general solution in this case, which again leaves room for a range of predictions for $Lambda$.
In this article, we study a type of one-field approach for open inflationary universe scenario in the context of braneworld models with a Gauss-Bonnet correction term. For a one-bubble universe model, we determine and characterize the existence of the Coleman-De Lucia instanton together with the period of inflation after tunneling has occurred. Our results are compared those analogous obtained when the usual Einstein Theory of Gravitation is used.
We present a simple generalisation of the $Lambda$CDM model which on the one hand reaches very good agreement with the present day experimental data and provides an internal inflationary mechanism on the other hand. It is based on Palatini modified gravity with quadratic Starobinsky term and generalized Chaplygin gas as a matter source providing, besides a current accelerated expansion, the epoch of endogenous inflation driven by type III freeze singularity. It follows from our statistical analysis that astronomical data favors negative value of the parameter coupling quadratic term into Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian and as a consequence the bounce instead of initial Big-Bang singularity is preferred.
