We get a local existence result in $H^s$ with $s>3/2$ for second order quasilinear wave equation with radial initial data in 2+1 dimensions, based on an improvement of Strichartz estimate in the radial case. Moreover, we get the corresponding local well-posed result for semilinear wave equation. The required index of regularity here is 1/4 less than the index 7/4, which is essentially sharp in general.

We prove local existence and uniqueness for the Newton-Schroedinger equation in three dimensions. Further we show that the blow-up alternative holds true as well as the continuous dependence of the solution w.r.t. the initial data.
Hormander proved global existence of solutions for sufficiently small initial data for scalar wave equations in $(1+4)-$dimensions of the form $Box u = Q(u, u, u)$ where $Q$ vanishes to second order and $(partial_u^2 Q)(0,0,0)=0$. Without the latter condition, only almost global existence may be guaranteed. The first author and Sogge considered the analog exterior to a star-shaped obstacle. Both results relied on writing the lowest order terms $upartial_alpha u = frac{1}{2}partial_alpha u^2$ and as such do not immediately generalize to systems. The current study remedies such and extends both results to the case of multiple speed systems.
Consider the energy-critical focusing wave equation in odd space dimension $Ngeq 3$. The equation has a nonzero radial stationary solution $W$, which is unique up to scaling and sign change. In this paper we prove that any radial, bounded in the energy norm solution of the equation behaves asymptotically as a sum of modulated $W$s, decoupled by the scaling, and a radiation term. The proof essentially boils down to the fact that the equation does not have purely nonradiative multisoliton solutions. The proof overcomes the fundamental obstruction for the extension of the 3D case (treated in our previous work, Cambridge Journal of Mathematics 2013, arXiv:1204.0031) by reducing the study of a multisoliton solution to a finite dimensional system of ordinary differential equations on the modulation parameters. The key ingredient of the proof is to show that this system of equations creates some radiation, contradicting the existence of pure multisolitons.
We prove that any sufficiently differentiable space-like hypersurface of ${mathbb R}^{1+N} $ coincides locally around any of its points with the blow-up surface of a finite-energy solution of the focusing nonlinear wave equation $partial_{tt} u - Delta u=|u|^{p-1} u$ on ${mathbb R} times {mathbb R} ^N$, for any $1leq Nleq 4$ and $1 < p le frac {N+2} {N-2}$. We follow the strategy developed in our previous work [arXiv 1812.03949] on the construction of solutions of the nonlinear wave equation blowing up at any prescribed compact set. Here to prove blowup on a local space-like hypersurface, we first apply a change of variable to reduce the problem to blowup on a small ball at $t=0$ for a transformed equation. The construction of an appropriate approximate solution is then combined with an energy method for the existence of a solution of the transformed problem that blows up at $t=0$. To obtain a finite-energy solution of the original problem from trace arguments, we need to work with $H^2times H^1$ solutions for the transformed problem.
We revisit the following nonlinear critical elliptic equation begin{equation*} -Delta u+Q(y)u=u^{frac{N+2}{N-2}},;;; u>0;;;hbox{ in } mathbb{R}^N, end{equation*} where $Ngeq 5.$ Although there are some existence results of bubbling solutions for problem above, there are no results about the periodicity of bubbling solutions. Here we investigate some related problems. Assuming that $Q(y)$ is periodic in $y_1$ with period 1 and has a local minimum at 0 satisfying $Q(0)=0,$ we prove the existence and local uniqueness of infinitely many bubbling solutions of the problem above. This local uniqueness result implies that some bubbling solutions preserve the symmetry of the potential function $Q(y),$ i.e. the bubbling solution whose blow-up set is ${(jL,0,...,0):j=0,1,2,...,m}$ must be periodic in $y_{1}$ provided that $L$ is large enough, where $m$ is the number of the bubbles which is large enough but independent of $L.$ Moreover, we also show a non-existence of this bubbling solutions for the problem above if the local minimum of $Q(y)$ does not equal to zero.
