Only three magnetic $delta$ Scuti stars are known as of today. HD 41641 is a $delta$ Scuti star showing chemical peculiarities and rotational modulation of its light-curve, making it a good magnetic candidate. We acquired spectropolarimetric observations of this star with Narval at TBL to search for the presence of a magnetic field and characterize it. We indeed clearly detect a magnetic field in HD 41641, making it the fourth known magnetic $delta$ Scuti star. Our analysis shows that the field is of fossil origin, like magnetic OBA stars, but with a complex field structure rather than the much more usual dipolar structure.

MOST observations and model analysis of the Herbig Ae star HD 34282 (V1366 Ori) reveal {delta}-Scuti pulsations. 22 frequencies are observed, 10 of which confirm those previously identified by Amado et al. (2006), and 12 of which are newly discovered in this work. We show that the weighted-average frequency in each group fits the radial p-mode frequencies of viable models. We argue that the observed pulsation spectrum extends just to the edge to the acoustic cut-off frequency and show that this also is consistent with our best-fitting models.
F type stars are characterised by several physical processes such as different pulsation mechanisms, rotation, convection, diffusion, and magnetic fields. The rapidly rotating delta Scuti star beta Cas can be considered as a benchmark star to study t he interaction of several of these effects. We investigate the pulsational and magnetic field properties of beta Cas. We also determine the stars apparent fundamental parameters and chemical abundances. Based on photometric time series obtained from three different space missions (BRITE-Constellation, SMEI, and TESS), we conduct a frequency analysis and investigate the stability of the pulsation amplitudes over four years of observations. We investigate the presence of a magnetic field and its properties using spectropolarimetric observations taken with the Narval instrument by applying the Least Square Deconvolution and Zeeman Doppler Imaging techniques. beta Cas shows only three independent p-mode frequencies down to the few ppm-level; its highest amplitude frequency is suggested to be a $n=3$, $ell = 2$, $m=0$ mode. Its magnetic field structure is quite complex and almost certainly of a dynamo origin. beta Cas atmosphere is slightly deficient in iron peak elements and slightly overabundant in C, O, and heavier elements. Atypically for delta Scuti stars, we can only detect three pulsation modes down to exceptionally low noise levels for beta Cas. The star is also one of very few delta Scuti pulsators known to date to show a measurable magnetic field, and the first delta Scuti star with a dynamo magnetic field. These characteristics make beta Cas an interesting target for future studies of dynamo processes in the thin convective envelopes of F-type stars, of the transition region between fossil and dynamo fields, and the interaction between pulsations and magnetic field.
Preliminary results on the discovery and follow-up observations of a new $delta$ Scuti pulsator in the Cygnus field are presented. The variability of the star HD 207331 was detected while testing a Stromgren spectrophotometer attached to the H.L. Joh nson 1.5-m telescope at the San Pedro Martir observatory, Mexico. CCD photometric data acquired soon after confirmed its variability. A few hours of $uvby$ differential photoelectric photometry during three nights revealed at least two beating periods. A two-site observational campaign carried out during one week in 2009 confirms the multi-periodic nature of this new $delta$ Scuti pulsator.
Hybrid stars of the {gamma} Doradus and {delta} Scuti pulsation types have great potential for asteroseismic analysis to explore their interior structure. To achieve this, mode identi- fications of pulsational frequencies observed in the stars must b e made, a task which is far from simple. In this work we begin the analysis by scrutinizing the frequencies found in the CoRoT photometric satellite measurements and ground-based high-resolution spectroscopy of the hybrid star HD 49434. The results show almost no consistency between the frequencies found using the two techniques and no characteristic period spacings or couplings were identified in either dataset. The spectroscopic data additionally show no evidence for any long term (5 year) variation in the dominant frequency. The 31 spectroscopic frequencies identified have standard deviation profiles suggesting multiple modes sharing (l, m) in the {delta} Scuti frequency region and several skewed modes sharing the same (l, m) in the {gamma} Doradus frequency region. In addition, there is a clear frequency in the {gamma} Doradus frequency region that appears to be unrelated to the others. We conclude HD 49434 remains a {delta} Scuti/ {gamma} Doradus candidate hybrid star but more sophisticated models dealing with rotation are sought to obtain a clear picture of the pulsational behaviour of this star.
Among the known groups of pulsating stars, $delta$ Sct stars are one of the least understood. Theoretical models do not predict the oscillation frequencies that observations reveal. Complete asteroseismic studies are necessary to improve these models and better understand the internal structure of these targets. We study the $delta$ Sct star HD 41641 with the ultimate goal of understanding its oscillation pattern. The target was simultaneously observed by the CoRoT space telescope and the HARPS high-resolution spectrograph. The photometric data set was analyzed with the software package PERIOD04, while FAMIAS was used to analyze the line profile variations. The method of spectrum synthesis was used for spectroscopically determining the fundamental atmospheric parameters and individual chemical abundances. A total of 90 different frequencies was identified and analyzed. An unambiguous identification of the azimuthal order of the surface geometry could only be provided for the dominant p-mode, which was found to be a nonradial prograde mode with m = +1. Using $T_mathrm{eff}$ and $log g$, we estimated the mass, radius, and evolutionary stage of HD 41641. We find HD 41641 to be a moderately rotating, slightly evolved $delta$ Sct star with subsolar overall atmospheric metal content and unexpected chemical peculiarities. HD 41641 is a pure $delta$ Sct pulsator with p-mode frequencies in the range from 10 d$^{-1}$ to 20 d$^{-1}$. This pulsating star presents chemical signatures of an Ap star and rotational modulation due to surface inhomogeneities, which we consider indirect evidence of the presence of a magnetic field.
