The four dimensional spacetime continuum, as originally conceived by Minkowski, has become the default framework for describing physical laws. Due to its fundamental importance, there have been various attempts to find the origin of this structure from more elementary principles. In this paper, we show how the Minkowski spacetime structure arises naturally from the geometrical properties of three dimensional space when modelled by Clifford geometric algebra of three dimensions $ Cell(Re^3) $. We find that a time-like dimension along with the three spatial dimensions, arise naturally, as well as four additional degrees of freedom that we identify with spin. Within this expanded eight-dimensional arena of spacetime, we find a generalisation of the invariant interval and the Lorentz transformations, with standard results returned as special cases. The value of this geometric approach is shown by the emergence of a fixed speed for light, the laws of special relativity and the form of Maxwells equations, without recourse to any physical arguments.

Using the methods of ordinary quantum mechanics we study $kappa$-Minkowski space as a quantum space described by noncommuting self-adjoint operators, following and enlarging arXiv:1811.08409. We see how the role of Fourier transforms is played in thi s case by Mellin transforms. We briefly discuss the role of transformations and observers.
Special Relativity is a cornerstone of modern physical theory. While a standard coordinate model is well-known and widely taught today, several alternative systems of axioms exist. This paper reports on the formalisation of one such system which is c loser in spirit to Hilberts axiomatic approach to Euclidean geometry than to the vector space approach employed by Minkowski. We present a mechanisation in Isabelle/HOL of the system of axioms as well as theorems relating to temporal order. Proofs and excerpts of Isabelle/Isar scripts are discussed, particularly where the formal work required additional steps, alternative approaches, or corrections to Schutz prose.

This paper has few different, but interrelated, goals. At first, we will propose a version of discretization of quantum field theory (Chapter 3). We will write down Lagrangians for sample bosonic fields (Section 3.1) and also attempt to generalize th em to fermionic QFT (Section 3.2). At the same time, we will insist that the elements of our discrete space are embedded into a continuum. This will allow us to embed several different lattices into the same continuum and view them as separate quantum field configurations. Classical parameters will be used in order to specify which lattice each given element belongs to. Furthermore, another set of classical parameters will be proposed in order to define so-called probability amplitude of each field configuration, embodied by a corresponding lattice, taking place (Chapter 2). Apart from that, we will propose a set of classical signals that propagate throughout continuum, and define their dynamics in such a way that they produce the mathematical information consistent with the desired quantum effects within the lattices we are concerned about (Chapter 4). Finally, we will take advantage of the lack of true quantum mechanics, and add gravity in such a way that avoids the issue of its quantization altogether (Chapter 5). In the process of doing so, we will propose a gravity-based collapse model of a wave function. In particular, we will claim that the collapse of a wave function is merely a result of states that violate Einsteins equation being thrown away. The mathematical structure of this model (in particular, the appeal to gamblers ruin) will be similar to GRW collapse models.

Classical mechanics, relativity, electrodynamics and quantum mechanics are often depicted as separate realms of physics, each with its own formalism and notion. This remains unsatisfactory with respect to the unity of nature and to the necessary numb er of postulates. We uncover the intrinsic connection of these areas of physics and describe them using a common symplectic Hamiltonian formalism. Our approach is based on a proper distinction between variables and constants, i.e. on a basic but rigorous ontology of time. We link these concept with the obvious conditions for the possibility of measurements. The derived consequences put the measurement problem of quantum mechanics and the Copenhagen interpretation of the quantum mechanical wavefunction into perspective. According to our (onto-) logic we find that spacetime can not be fundamental. We argue that a geometric interpretation of symplectic dynamics emerges from the isomorphism between the corresponding Lie algebra and the representation of a Clifford algebra. Within this conceptional framework we derive the dimensionality of spacetime, the form of Lorentz transformations and of the Lorentz force and fundamental laws of physics as the Planck-Einstein relation, the Maxwell equations and finally the Dirac equation.

Two one-parameter families of twists providing kappa-Minkowski * -product deformed spacetime are considered: Abelian and Jordanian. We compare the derivation of quantum Minkowski space from two perspectives. The first one is the Hopf module algebra p oint of view, which is strictly related with Drinfelds twisting tensor technique. The other one relies on an appropriate extension of deformed realizations of nondeformed Lorentz algebra by the quantum Minkowski algebra. This extension turns out to be de Sitter Lie algebra. We show the way both approaches are related. The second path allows us to calculate deformed dispersion relations for toy models ensuing from different twist parameters. In the Abelian case one recovers kappa-Poincare dispersion relations having numerous applications in doubly special relativity. Jordanian twists provide a new type of dispersion relations which in the minimal case (related to Weyl-Poincare algebra) takes an energy-dependent linear mass deformation form.
