We present a nonperturbative QCD calculation of diffractive vector meson production in virtual photon nucleon scattering at high energy. We use the nonperturbative model of the stochastic QCD vacuum which yields linear confinement and makes specific predictions for the dependence of high-energy scattering cross sections on the hadron size. Using light cone wave functions of the photon and vector mesons, we calculate electroproduction cross sections for $rho$, $omega$, $phi$ and $J/psi$. We emphasize the behavior of specific observables such as the ratio of longitudinal to transverse production cross section and the t-dependence of the differential cross section.

Sufficiently inclusive processes, like the deep inelastic scattering (DIS), are described in terms of scale-dependent parton distributions, which correspond to the density of partons with a given longitudinal momentum fraction, integrated over the pa rton transverse momentum. For less inclusive processes, one needs to consider densities unintegrated over the transverse momentum. This work focuses on the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), describing the probability that a gluon can be emitted by a colliding proton, with definite longitudinal fraction and transverse momentum. Through the leptoproduction of the $rho$-meson at HERA, existent models for the UGD will be investigated and compared with experimental data.

These are lecture notes, which summarize the current status of the Semiclassical theory, as well as Monopoles, Instantons, Instanton-dyons and Flux tubes. We summarize recent results on the nonperturbative quark-gluon interaction in Landau gauge QCD. Our analytical analysis of the infrared behaviour of the quark-gluon vertex reveals infrared singularities, which lead to an infrared divergent running co upling and a linear rising quark-antiquark potential when chiral symmetry is broken. In the chirally symmetric case we find an infrared fixed point of the coupling and, correspondingly, a Coulomb potential. These findings provide a new link betwen dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and confinement.
We consider the fidelity of the vector meson dominance (VMD) assumption as an instrument for relating the electromagnetic vector-meson production reaction $e + p to e^prime + V + p$ to the purely hadronic process $V + p to V+p$. Analyses of the photo n vacuum polarisation and the photon-quark vertex reveal that such a VMD Ansatz might be reasonable for light vector-mesons. However, when the vector-mesons are described by momentum-dependent bound-state amplitudes, VMD fails for heavy vector-mesons: it cannot be used reliably to estimate either a photon-to-vector-meson transition strength or the momentum dependence of those integrands that would arise in calculations of the different reaction amplitudes. Consequently, for processes involving heavy mesons, the veracity of both cross-section estimates and conclusions based on the VMD assumption should be reviewed, e.g., those relating to hidden-charm pentaquark production and the origin of the proton mass.

The strong coupling constants between light vector mesons and octet-decuplet baryons are calculated in framework of the light cone QCD sum rules, taking into account SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking effects. It is shown that all strong coupling constan ts can be represented in terms of a single universal function. Size of the SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are estimated.
