We present photometry and derived redshifts from up to eleven bandpasses for 9927 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep field (UDF), covering an observed wavelength range from the near-ultraviolet (NUV) to the near-infrared (NIR) with Hubble Space Telesc ope observations. Our Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3)/UV F225W, F275W, and F336W image mosaics from the ultra-violet UDF (UVUDF) imaging campaign are newly calibrated to correct for charge transfer inefficiency, and use new dark calibrations to minimize background gradients and pattern noise. Our NIR WFC3/IR image mosaics combine the imaging from the UDF09 and UDF12 campaigns with CANDELS data to provide NIR coverage for the entire UDF field of view. We use aperture-matched point-spread function corrected photometry to measure photometric redshifts in the UDF, sampling both the Lyman break and Balmer break of galaxies at z~0.8-3.4, and one of the breaks over the rest of the redshift range. Our comparison of these results with a compilation of robust spectroscopic redshifts shows an improvement in the galaxy photometric redshifts by a factor of two in scatter and a factor three in outlier fraction over previous UDF catalogs. The inclusion of the new NUV data is responsible for a factor of two decrease in the outlier fraction compared to redshifts determined from only the optical and NIR data, and improves the scatter at z<0.5 and at z>2. The panchromatic coverage of the UDF from the NUV through the NIR yields robust photometric redshifts of the UDF, with the lowest outlier fraction available.
We measure quantitative structural parameters of galaxies in the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) on the drizzled F814W images. Our structural parameters are based on a two-component surface brightness made up of a Sersic profile and an exponential profile. W e compare our results to the visual classification of van den Bergh et al. (1996) and the $C-A$ classification of Abraham et al. (1996a). Our morphological analysis of the galaxies in the HDF indicates that the spheroidal galaxies, defined here as galaxies with a dominant bulge profile, make up for only a small fraction, namely 8% of the galaxy population down to m$_{F814W}(AB)$ = 26.0. We show that the larger fraction of early-type systems in the van den Bergh sample is primarily due to the difference in classification of 40% of small round galaxies with half-light radii < 0arcsecpoint 31. Although these objects are visually classified as elliptical galaxies, we find that they are disk-dominated with bulge fractions < 0.5. Given the existing large dataset of HDF galaxies with measured spectroscopic redshifts, we are able to determine that the majority of distant galaxies ($z>2$) from this sample are disk-dominated. Our analysis reveals a subset of HDF galaxies which have profiles flatter than a pure exponential profile.
Tadpole galaxies have a head-tail shape with a large clump of star formation at the head and a diffuse tail or streak of stars off to one side. We measured the head and tail masses, ages, surface brightnesses, and sizes for 66 tadpoles in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (UDF), and we looked at the distribution of neighbor densities and tadpole orientations with respect to neighbors. The heads have masses of 10^7-10^8 Msun and photometric ages of ~0.1 Gyr for z~2. The tails have slightly larger masses than the heads, and comparable or slightly older ages. The most obvious interpretation of tadpoles as young merger remnants is difficult to verify. They have no enhanced proximity to other resolved galaxies as a class, and the heads, typically less than 0.2 kpc in diameter, usually have no obvious double-core structure. Another possibility is ram pressure interaction between a gas-rich galaxy and a diffuse cosmological flow. Ram pressure can trigger star formation on one side of a galaxy disk, giving the tadpole shape when viewed edge-on. Ram pressure can also strip away gas from a galaxy and put it into a tail, which then forms new stars and gravitationally drags along old stars with it. Such an effect might have been observed already in the Virgo cluster. Another possibility is that tadpoles are edge-on disks with large, off-center clumps. Analogous lop-sided star formation in UDF clump clusters are shown.

We derive photometric redshifts (zp) for sources in the entire ($sim0.4$ deg$^2$) Hawaii-Hubble Deep Field-North (hdfn) field with the EAzY code, based on point spread function-matched photometry of 15 broad bands from the ultraviolet (bandu~band) to mid-infrared (IRAC 4.5 $mu$m). Our catalog consists of a total of 131,678 sources. We evaluate the zp~quality by comparing zp~with spectroscopic redshifts (zs) when available, and find a value of normalized median absolute deviation sigm$=$0.029 and an outlier fraction of 5.5% (outliers are defined as sources having $rm |zp - zs|/(1+zs) > 0.15$) for non-X-ray sources. More specifically, we obtain sigm$=0.024$ with 2.7% outliers for sources brighter than $R=23$~mag, sigm$=0.035$ with 7.4% outliers for sources fainter than $R=23$~mag, sigm$=$0.026 with 3.9% outliers for sources having $z<1$, and sigm$=$0.034 with 9.0% outliers for sources having $z>1$. Our zp quality shows an overall improvement over an earlier zp work that focused only on the central hdfn area. We also classify each object as star or galaxy through template spectral energy distribution fitting and complementary morphological parametrization, resulting in 4959 stars and 126,719 galaxies. Furthermore, we match our catalog with the 2~Ms {it Chandra} Deep Field-North main xray~catalog. For the 462 matched non-stellar xray~sources (281 having zs), we improve their zp~quality by adding three additional AGN templates, achieving sigm$=0.035$ and an outlier fraction of 12.5%. We make our catalog publicly available presenting both photometry and zp, and provide guidance on how to make use of our catalog.

We take advantage of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (UDF) data to study the restframe optical and ultra violet (UV) morphologies of the novel population of Distant Red Galaxies (DRGs). Six galaxies with J-Ks > 2.3 are found to Ks=21.5, five of which hav e photometric redshifts z_phot > 2, corresponding to a surface density of 0.9/arcmin^2. The surface brightness distributions of the z_phot > 2 galaxies are better represented by exponential disks than R^{1/4}-laws. Two of the z_phot > 2 galaxies are extended, while three have compact morphologies. The restframe optical morphology of the z_phot > 2 galaxies is quite different from the restframe UV morphology: all the galaxies have red central components which dominate in the NICMOS H_{160}-band images, and distinct off-center blue features which show up in (and often dominate) the ACS images. The mean measured effective radius of the z_phot > 2 galaxies is <r_e> =1.9+/-1.4 kpc, similar (within the errors) to the mean size of LBGs at similar redshifts. All the DRGs are resolved in the ACS images, while four are resolved in the NICMOS images. Two of the z_phot > 2 galaxies are bright X-ray sources and hence host AGN. The diverse restframe optical and UV morphological properties of DRGs derived here suggest that they have complex stellar populations, consisting of both evolved populations that dominate the mass and the restframe optical light, and younger populations, which show up as patches of star formation in the restframe UV light; in many ways resembling the properties of normal local galaxies. This interpretation is supported by fits to the broadband SEDs, which for all five z_phot > 2 are best represented by models with extended star formation histories and substantial amounts of dust.
