This paper applies t-SNE, a visualisation technique familiar from Deep Neural Network research to argumentation graphs by applying it to the output of graph embeddings generated using several different methods. It shows that such a visualisation approach can work for argumentation and show interesting structural properties of argumentation graphs, opening up paths for further research in the area.

t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) is one of the most widely used dimensionality reduction methods for data visualization, but it has a perplexity hyperparameter that requires manual selection. In practice, proper tuning of t-SNE per plexity requires users to understand the inner working of the method as well as to have hands-on experience. We propose a model selection objective for t-SNE perplexity that requires negligible extra computation beyond that of the t-SNE itself. We empirically validate that the perplexity settings found by our approach are consistent with preferences elicited from human experts across a number of datasets. The similarities of our approach to Bayesian information criteria (BIC) and minimum description length (MDL) are also analyzed.

Learning knowledge graph embedding from an existing knowledge graph is very important to knowledge graph completion. For a fact $(h,r,t)$ with the head entity $h$ having a relation $r$ with the tail entity $t$, the current approaches aim to learn low dimensional representations $(mathbf{h},mathbf{r},mathbf{t})$, each of which corresponds to the elements in $(h, r, t)$, respectively. As $(mathbf{h},mathbf{r},mathbf{t})$ is learned from the existing facts within a knowledge graph, these representations can not be used to detect unknown facts (if the entities or relations never occur in the knowledge graph). This paper proposes a new approach called TransW, aiming to go beyond the current work by composing knowledge graph embeddings using word embeddings. Given the fact that an entity or a relation contains one or more words (quite often), it is sensible to learn a mapping function from word embedding spaces to knowledge embedding spaces, which shows how entities are constructed using human words. More importantly, composing knowledge embeddings using word embeddings makes it possible to deal with the emerging new facts (either new entities or relations). Experimental results using three public datasets show the consistency and outperformance of the proposed TransW.
Knowledge graph embeddings are now a widely adopted approach to knowledge representation in which entities and relationships are embedded in vector spaces. In this chapter, we introduce the reader to the concept of knowledge graph embeddings by expla ining what they are, how they can be generated and how they can be evaluated. We summarize the state-of-the-art in this field by describing the approaches that have been introduced to represent knowledge in the vector space. In relation to knowledge representation, we consider the problem of explainability, and discuss models and methods for explaining predictions obtained via knowledge graph embeddings.
This paper presents Co-Arg, a new type of cognitive assistant to an intelligence analyst that enables the synergistic integration of analyst imagination and expertise, computer knowledge and critical reasoning, and crowd wisdom, to draw defensible an d persuasive conclusions from masses of evidence of all types, in a world that is changing all the time. Co-Args goal is to improve the quality of the analytic results and enhance their understandability for both experts and novices. The performed analysis is based on a sound and transparent argumentation that links evidence to conclusions in a way that shows very clearly how the conclusions have been reached, what evidence was used and how, what is not known, and what assumptions have been made. The analytic results are presented in a report describes the analytic conclusion and its probability, the main favoring and disfavoring arguments, the justification of the key judgments and assumptions, and the missing information that might increase the accuracy of the solution.
Among the top approaches of recent years, link prediction using knowledge graph embedding (KGE) models has gained significant attention for knowledge graph completion. Various embedding models have been proposed so far, among which, some recent KGE m odels obtain state-of-the-art performance on link prediction tasks by using embeddings with a high dimension (e.g. 1000) which accelerate the costs of training and evaluation considering the large scale of KGs. In this paper, we propose a simple but effective performance boosting strategy for KGE models by using multiple low dimensions in different repetition rounds of the same model. For example, instead of training a model one time with a large embedding size of 1200, we repeat the training of the model 6 times in parallel with an embedding size of 200 and then combine the 6 separate models for testing while the overall numbers of adjustable parameters are same (6*200=1200) and the total memory footprint remains the same. We show that our approach enables different models to better cope with their expressiveness issues on modeling various graph patterns such as symmetric, 1-n, n-1 and n-n. In order to justify our findings, we conduct experiments on various KGE models. Experimental results on standard benchmark datasets, namely FB15K, FB15K-237 and WN18RR, show that multiple low-dimensional models of the same kind outperform the corresponding single high-dimensional models on link prediction in a certain range and have advantages in training efficiency by using parallel training while the overall numbers of adjustable parameters are same.
