We present a method which provides a unified framework for most stability theorems that have been proved in graph and hypergraph theory. Our main result reduces stability for a large class of hypergraph problems to the simpler question of checking that a hypergraph $mathcal H$ with large minimum degree that omits the forbidden structures is vertex-extendable. This means that if $v$ is a vertex of $mathcal H$ and ${mathcal H} -v$ is a subgraph of the extremal configuration(s), then $mathcal H$ is also a subgraph of the extremal configuration(s). In many cases vertex-extendability is quite easy to verify. We illustrate our approach by giving new short proofs of hypergraph stability results of Pikhurko, Hefetz-Keevash, Brandt-Irwin-Jiang, Bene Watts-Norin-Yepremyan and others. Since our method always yields minimum degree stability, which is the strongest form of stability, in some of these cases our stability results are stronger than what was known earlier. Along the way, we clarify the different notions of stability that have been previously studied.

The stability method is very useful for obtaining exact solutions of many extremal graph problems. Its key step is to establish the stability property which, roughly speaking, states that any two almost optimal graphs of the same order $n$ can be mad e isomorphic by changing o(n^2) edges. Here we show how the recently developed theory of graph limits can be used to give an analytic approach to stability. As an application, we present a new proof of the Erdos-Simonovits Stability Theorem. Also, we investigate various properties of the edit distance. In particular, we show that the combinatorial and fraction

In this paper we introduce the notion of $Sigma$-colouring of a graph $G$: For given subsets $Sigma(v)$ of neighbours of $v$, for every $vin V(G)$, this is a proper colouring of the vertices of $G$ such that, in addition, vertices that appear togethe r in some $Sigma(v)$ receive different colours. This concept generalises the notion of colouring the square of graphs and of cyclic colouring of graphs embedded in a surface. We prove a general result for graphs embeddable in a fixed surface, which implies asymptot
A special type of rotary-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), called Quadcopter have prevailed to the civilian use for the past decade. They have gained significant amount of attention within the UAV community for their redundancy and ease of control , despite the fact that they fall under an under-actuated system category. They come in a variety of configurations. The + and x configurations were introduced first. Literature pertinent to these two configurations is vast. However, in this paper, we define 6 additional possible configurations for a Quadcopter that can be built under either + or x setup. These configurations can be achieved by changing the angle that the axis of rotation for rotors make with the main body, i.e., fuselage. This would also change the location of the COM with respect to the propellers which can add to the overall stability. A comprehensive dynamic model for all these configurations is developed for the first time. The overall stability for these configurations are addressed. In particular, it is shown that one configuration can lead to the most statically-stable platform by adopting damping motion in Roll/Pitch/Yaw, which is described for the first time to the best of our knowledge.
The sampling problem lies at the heart of atomistic simulations and over the years many different enhanced sampling methods have been suggested towards its solution. These methods are often grouped into two broad families. On the one hand methods suc h as umbrella sampling and metadynamics that build a bias potential based on few order parameters or collective variables. On the other hand, tempering methods such as replica exchange that combine different thermodynamic ensembles in one single expanded ensemble. We instead adopt a unifying perspective, focusing on the target probability distribution sampled by the different methods. This allows us to introduce a new class of collective-variables-based bias potentials that can be used to sample any of the expanded ensembles normally sampled via replica exchange. We also provide a practical implementation, by properly adapting the iterative scheme of the recently developed on-the-fly probability enhanced sampling method [Invernizzi and Parrinello, J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 11.7 (2020)], which was originally introduced for metadynamics-like sampling. The resulting method is very general and can be used to achieve different types of enhanced sampling. It is also reliable and simple to use, since it presents only few and robust external parameters and has a straightforward reweighting scheme. Furthermore, it can be used with any number of parallel replicas. We show the versatility of our approach with applications to multicanonical and multithermal-multibaric simulations, thermodynamic integration, umbrella sampling, and combinations thereof.

Let H be a hypergraph on n vertices with the property that no edge contains another. We prove some results for a special case of the Isolation Lemma when the label set for the edges of H can only take two values. Given any set of vertices S and an ed ge e, the weight of S in e is the size of e plus the size of the intersection of S and e. A versal S for an edge e is a set of vertices with weight in e smaller than the weight in any other edge. We show that H always has at least n + 1 versals except if H is either the set of all singletons T_n or the complement of T_n or the 4-cycle graph. In those exceptional cases there are only n versals.
