We study the persistent currents and interspecies entanglement generation in a Bose-Bose mixture formed by two atomic gases (hereafter labelled by the letters A and B) trapped in a one-dimensional ring lattice potential with an artificial gauge field after a sudden quench from zero to strong interactions between the two gases. Assuming that the strength of these interactions is much larger than the single species energies and that the gas A is initially in the Mott-insulator regime, we show that the current of the gas B is reduced with respect to its value prior the interaction quench. Averaging fast oscillations out, the relative decrease of this current is independent of the initial visibility and Peierls phase of the gas B and behaves quadratically with the visibility of the gas A. The second Renyi entropy of the reduced state measuring the amount of entanglement between the two gases is found to scale linearly with the number of sites and to be proportional to the relative decrease of the current.
We revisit here the Kibble-Zurek mechanism for superfluid bosons slowly driven across the transition towards the Mott-insulating phase. By means of a combination of the Time-Dependent Variational Principle and a Tree-Tensor Network, we characterize t
Repulsive Bose-Bose mixtures are known to either mix or phase-separate into pure components. Here we predict a mixed-bubble regime in which bubbles of the mixed phase coexist with a pure phase of one of the components. This is a beyond-mean-field eff
A ring-shaped array of Bose-Einstein condensed atomic gases can display circular currents if the relative phase of neighboring condensates becomes locked to certain values. It is shown that, irrespective of the mechanism responsible for generating th
We study a quantum quench in the Bose-Hubbard model where the tunneling rate $J$ is suddenly switched from zero to a finite value in the Mott regime. In order to solve the many-body quantum dynamics far from equlibrium, we consider the reduced densit
We have studied dilute Bose-Bose mixtures of atoms with attractive interspecies and repulsive intraspecies interactions using quantum Monte Carlo methods at $T=0$. Using a number of models for interactions, we determine the range of validity of the u
