We study by extensive numerical simulations the dynamics of a hard-core tracer particle (TP) in presence of two competing types of disorder - frozen convection flows on a square random Manhattan lattice and a crowded dynamical environment formed by a lattice gas of mobile hard-core particles. The latter perform lattice random walks, constrained by a single-occupancy condition of each lattice site, and are either insensitive to random flows (model A) or choose the jump directions as dictated by the local directionality of bonds of the random Manhattan lattice (model B). We focus on the TP disorder-averaged mean-squared displacement, (which shows a super-diffusive behaviour $sim t^{4/3}$, $t$ being time, in all the cases studied here), on higher moments of the TP displacement, and on the probability distribution of the TP position $X$ along the $x$-axis. Our analysis evidences that in absence of the lattice gas particles the latter has a Gaussian central part $sim exp(- u^2)$, where $u = X/t^{2/3}$, and exhibits slower-than-Gaussian tails $sim exp(-|u|^{4/3})$ for sufficiently large $t$ and $u$. Numerical data convincingly demonstrate that in presence of a crowded environment the central Gaussian part and non-Gaussian tails of the distribution persist for both models.

We summarise different results on the diffusion of a tracer particle in lattice gases of hard-core particles with stochastic dynamics, which are confined to narrow channels -- single-files, comb-like structures and quasi-one-dimensional channels with the width equal to several particle diameters. We show that in such geometries a surprisingly rich, sometimes even counter-intuitive, behaviour emerges, which is absent in unbounded systems. We also present a survey of different results obtained for a tracer particle diffusion in unbounded systems, which will permit a reader to have an exhaustively broad picture of the tracer diffusion in crowded environments.
In the randomly-oriented Manhattan lattice, every line in $mathbb{Z}^d$ is assigned a uniform random direction. We consider the directed graph whose vertex set is $mathbb{Z}^d$ and whose edges connect nearest neighbours, but only in the direction fix ed by the line orientations. Random walk on this directed graph chooses uniformly from the $d$ legal neighbours at each step. We prove that this walk is superdiffusive in two and three dimensions. The model is diffusive in four and more dimensions.
We study the finite-time dynamics of an initially localized wave-packet in the Anderson model on the random regular graph (RRG). Considering the full probability distribution $Pi(x,t)$ of a particle to be at some distance $x$ from the initial state a t time $t$, we give evidence that $Pi(x,t)$ spreads sub-diffusively over a range of disorder strengths, wider than a putative non-ergodic phase. We provide a detailed analysis of the propagation of $Pi(x,t)$ in space-time $(x,t)$ domain, identifying four different regimes. These regimes in $(x,t)$ are determined by the position of a wave-front $X_{text{front}}(t)$, which moves sub-diffusively to the most distant sites $X_{text{front}}(t) sim t^{beta}$ with an exponent $beta < 1$. We support our numerical results by a self-consistent semiclassical picture of wavepacket propagation relating the exponent $beta$ with the relaxation rate of the return probability $Pi(0,t) sim e^{-Gamma t^beta}$. Importantly, the Anderson model on the RRG can be considered as proxy of the many-body localization transition (MBL) on the Fock space of a generic interacting system. In the final discussion, we outline possible implications of our findings for MBL.
We derive equations of motion for the mean-squared displacement (MSD) of an active Brownian particle (ABP) in a crowded environment modeled by a dense system of passive Brownian particles, and of a passive tracer particle in a dense active-Brownian p article system, using a projection-operator scheme. The interaction of the tracer particle with the dense host environment gives rise to strong memory effects. Evaluating these approximately in the framework of a recently developed mode-coupling theory for the glass transition in active Brownian particles (ABP-MCT), we discuss the various regimes of activity-induced super-diffusive motion and density-induced sub-diffusive motion. The predictions of the theory are shown to be in good agreement with results from an event-driven Brownian dynamics simulation scheme for the dynamics of two-dimensional active Brownian hard disks.
The phase diagram of the random field Ising model on the Bethe lattice with a symmetric dichotomous random field is closely investigated with respect to the transition between the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic regime. Refining arguments of Bleher, R uiz and Zagrebnov [J. Stat. Phys. 93, 33 (1998)] an exact upper bound for the existence of a unique paramagnetic phase is found which considerably improves the earlier results. Several numerical estimates of transition lines between a ferromagnetic and a paramagnetic regime are presented. The obtained results do not coincide with a lower bound for the onset of ferromagnetism proposed by Bruinsma [Phys. Rev. B 30, 289 (1984)]. If the latter one proves correct this would hint to a region of coexistence of stable ferromagnetic phases and a stable paramagnetic phase.
