Superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric LaNiC$_2$ is expected to be induced by electron--phonon interactions due to its lack of magnetic instabilities. The non-Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) behaviors found in this material call into question the long-standing idea that relates unconventional superconductivity with magnetic interactions. Here we report magnetic penetration-depth measurements in a high-purity single crystal of LaNiC$_2$ at pressures up to 2.5 GPa and temperatures down to 0.04 K. At ambient pressure and below 0.5$T_c$ the penetration depth goes as $T^4$ for the in-plane and $T^2$ for the out-of-plane component, firmly implying the existence of point nodes in the energy gap and the unconventional character of this superconductor. The present study also provides first evidence of magnetism in LaNiC$_2$ by unraveling a pressure-induced antiferromagnetic phase inside the superconducting state at temperatures below 0.5 K, with a quantum critical point around ambient pressure. The results presented here maintain a solid base for the notion that unconventional superconductivity only arises near magnetic order or fluctuations.

75As-zero-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements are performed on CaFe2As2 under pressure. At P = 4.7 and 10.8 kbar, the temperature dependences of nuclear-spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) measur ed in the tetragonal phase show no coherence peak just below Tc(P) and decrease with decreasing temperature. The superconductivity is gapless at P = 4.7 kbar but evolves to that with multiple gaps at P = 10.8 kbar. We find that the superconductivity appears near a quantum critical point under pressures in the range 4.7 kbar < P < 10.8 kbar. Both electron correlation and superconductivity disappear in the collapsed tetragonal phase. A systematic study under pressure indicates that electron correlations play a vital role in forming Cooper pairs in this compound.
Using a new horizontal flux growth technique to produce high quality crystals of the unconventional superconductor YFe$_2$Ge$_2$ has led to a seven-fold reduction in disorder scattering, resulting in mm-sized crystals with residual resistivities $sim eq SI{0.45}{microohmcentimeter}$, resistivity ratios $simeq 430$ and sharp superconducting heat capacity anomalies. This enables searching multi-probe experiments investigating the normal and superconducting states of YFe$_2$Ge$_2$. Low temperature heat capacity measurements suggest a significant residual Sommerfeld coefficient, consistent with in-gap states induced by residual disorder as predicted for a sign-changing order parameter.
Resistivity and Hall effect measurements of EuFe$_2$As$_2$ up to 3.2,GPa indicate no divergence of quasiparticle effective mass at the pressure $P_mathrm{c}$ where the magnetic and structural transition disappears. This is corroborated by analysis of the temperature ($T$) dependence of the upper critical field. $T$-linear resistivity is observed at pressures slightly above $P_mathrm{c}$. The scattering rates for both electrons and holes are shown to be approximately $T$-linear. When a field is applied, a $T^2$ dependence is recovered, indicating that the origin of the $T$-linear dependence is spin fluctuations.

We report synthesis and single crystal measurements of magnetic, transport and thermal properties of single crystalline BaCo$_2$As$_2$ as well as first principles calculations of the electronic structure and magnetic behavior. These results show that BaCo$_2$As$_2$ is a highly renormalized paramagnet in proximity to a quantum critical point, presumably of ferromagnetic character and that BaFeNiAs$_2$ behaves similarly. These results are discussed in relation to the properties of Ba(Fe,Co)$_2$As$_2$ and Ba(Fe,Ni)$_2$As$_2$, which are superconducting for low Co and Ni concentrations.

The heavy fermion CeMIn5 family with M = Co, Rh, Ir provide a prototypical example of strange superconductors with unconventional d-wave pairing and strange metal normal state, emerged near an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point. The microscopic origin of strange superconductor and its link to antiferromagnetic quantum criticality and strange metal state are still open issues. We propose a microscopic mechanism for strange superconductor, based on the coexistence and competition between the Kondo correlation and the quasi-2d short-ranged antiferromagnetic resonating-valence-bond spin-liquid near the antiferromagnetic quantum critical point via a large-N Kondo-Heisenberg model and renormalization group analysis beyond the mean-field level. We find the coexistence (competition) between the two types of correlations well explains the overall features of superconducting and strange metal state. The interplay of these two effects provides a qualitative understanding on how superconductivity emerges from the SM state and the observed superconducting phase diagrams for CeMIn5 near the anti-ferromagnetic quantum critical point.
