Magnetic monopoles are suggested to play an important role in strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma (sQGP) near the deconfinement temperature. So far, their many-body treatment has only been done classically, with just binary scattering solved in quantum mechanics. In this paper we start quantum many-body studies of the monopole ensembles. Specifically, we carry out numerical simulations of the path integral for one- and two-component Coulomb Bose systems. We determine the relation between the critical temperature for the Bose-Einstein condensation phase transition $T_text{c}$ and the Coulomb coupling strength using two methods, the classic finite-size scaling of the condensate and a lattice-tested method based on permutation cycles. For a one-component Coulomb Bose gas, we observe the same behavior of the critical temperature -- initially rising slightly then falling as interaction strength is increased -- as seen in the case of hard spheres; we also observe the same behavior for a two-component Coulomb Bose gas. We then calculate sets of radial correlation functions between the like and unlike charged particles. By matching those with the correlation functions previously calculated on the lattice, we derive an effective quantum model of color magnetic monopoles in QCD. From this matched model, we are able to extract the monopole contribution to QCD equation of state near $T_text{c}$.

In this work, we carried out quantum many-body studies of magnetic monopole ensembles through numerical simulations of the path integral for one- and two-component Coulomb Bose systems. We found the relation between the critical temperature for the B ose-Einstein condensation phase transition and the Coulomb coupling strength using two methods, the finite-size scaling of the superfluid fraction and statistical analysis of permutation cycles. After finding parameters that match the correlation functions measured in our system with the correlation functions previously measured on the lattice, we arrived at an effective quantum model of color magnetic monopoles in QCD. From this matched model, we were able to extract the monopole contribution to QCD equation of state near $T_text{c}$.
Temperature dependence of pion and sigma-meson screening masses is evaluated by the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with the entanglement vertex (EPNJL model). We propose a practical way of calculating meson screening masses in the N JL-type effective models. The method based on the Pauli-Villars regularization solves the well-known difficulty that the evaluation of screening masses is not easy in the NJL-type effective models. The method is applied to analyze temperature dependence of pion screening masses calculated with state-of-the-art lattice simulations with success in reproducing the lattice QCD results. We predict the temperature dependence of pole mass by using EPNJL model.
Considering the general structure of the two point functions of quarks and gluons, we compute the free energy and pressure of a strongly magnetized hot and dense QCD matter created in heavy-ion collisions. In presence of strong magnetic field we foun d that the deconfined QCD matter exhibits a paramagnetic nature. One gets different pressure in a direction parallel and perpendicular to magnetic field due to the magnetization acquired by the system. We obtain both longitudinal and transverse pressure, and magnetization of a hot deconfined QCD matter in presence of magnetic field. We have used hard thermal loop approximation (HTL) for heat bath. We obtained completely analytic expression for pressure and magnetization under certain approximation. Various divergences appearing in free energy are regulated using appropriate counter terms. The obtained anisotropic pressure may be useful for magnetohydrodynamics description of a hot and dense deconfined QCD matter produced in heavy-ion collisions.
Static quark-anti-quark potential encodes important information on the chromodynamical interaction between color charges, and recent lattice results show its very nontrivial behavior near the deconfinement temperature $T_c$. In this paper we study su ch potential in the framework of the ``magnetic scenario for the near Tc QCD plasma, and particularly focus on the linear part (as quantified by its slope, the tension) in the potential as well as the strong splitting between the free energy and internal energy. By using an analytic ``ellipsoidal bag model, we will quantitatively relate the free energy tension to the magnetic condensate density and relate the internal energy tension to the thermal monopole density. By converting the lattice results for static potential into density for thermal monopoles we find the density to be very large around Tc and indicate at quantum coherence, in good agreement with direct lattice calculation of such density. A few important consequences for heavy ion collisions phenomenology will also be discussed.
We investigate QCD at large mu/T by using Z_3-symmetric SU(3) gauge theory, where mu is the quark-number chemical potential and T is temperature. We impose the flavor-dependent twist boundary condition on quarks in QCD. This QCD-like theory has the t wist angle theta as a parameter, and agrees with QCD when theta=0 and becomes symmetric when theta=2pi/3. For both QCD and the Z_3-symmetric SU(3) gauge theory, the phase diagram is drawn in mu--T plane with the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. In the Z_3-symmetric SU(3) gauge theory, the Polyakov loop varphi is zero in the confined phase appearing at T lsim 200 MeV. The perfectly confined phase never coexists with the color superconducting (CSC) phase, since finite diquark condensate in the CSC phase breaks Z_3 symmetry and then makes varphi finite. When mu gsim 300 MeV, the CSC phase is more stable than the perfectly confined phase at T lsim 100 MeV. Meanwhile, the chiral symmetry can be broken in the perfectly confined phase, since the chiral condensate is Z_3 invariant. Consequently, the perfectly confined phase is divided into the perfectly confined phase without chiral symmetry restoration in a region of mu lsim 300 MeV and T lsim 200 MeV and the perfectly confined phase with chiral symmetry restoration in a region of mu gsim 300 MeV and 100 lsim T lsim 200 MeV. The basic phase structure of Z_3-symmetric QCD-like theory remains in QCD. We show that in the perfectly confined phase the sign problem becomes less serious because of varphi=0, using the heavy quark theory. We discuss a lattice QCD framework to evaluate observables at theta=0 from those at theta=2pi/3.
