By two-color photoassociation of $^{40}$Ca four weakly bound vibrational levels in the Ca$_2$ Xpot ground state potential were measured, using highly spin-forbidden transitions to intermediate states of the coupled system $^3Pi_{u}$ and $^3Sigma^+ _{u}$ near the ${^3P_1}$+${^1S_0}$ asymptote. From the observed binding energies, including the least bound state, the long range dispersion coefficients $mathrm{C}_6, mathrm{C}_8,mathrm{C}_{10}$ and a precise value for the s-wave scattering length of 308.5(50)~$a_0$ were derived. From mass scaling we also calculated the corresponding scattering length for other natural isotopes. From the Autler-Townes splitting of the spectra, the molecular Rabi frequency has been determined as function of the laser intensity for one bound-bound transition. The observed value for the Rabi-frequency is in good agreement with calculated transition moments based on the derived potentials, assuming a dipole moment being independent of internuclear separation for the atomic pair model.

We report on measurements of the binding energies of several weakly bound vibrational states of the paramagnetic $^{174}$Yb$^{6}$Li molecule in the electronic ground state using two-photon spectroscopy in an ultracold atomic mixture confined in an op tical dipole trap. We theoretically analyze the experimental spectrum to obtain an accurate description of the long-range potential of the ground state molecule. Based on the measured binding energies, we arrive at an improved value of the interspecies $s$-wave scattering length $a_{s0}=30$ $a_0$. Employing coherent two-photon spectroscopy we also observe the creation of dark atom-molecule superposition states in the heteronuclear Yb-Li system. This work is an important step towards the efficient production of ultracold YbLi molecules via association from an ultracold atomic mixture.
Using new experimental measurements of photoassociation resonances near the $^1mathrm{S}_0 rightarrow phantom{ }^3mathrm{P}_1$ intercombination transition in $^{84}$Sr and $^{86}$Sr, we present an updated study into the mass-scaling behavior of boson ic strontium dimers. A previous mass-scaling model [Borkowski et al., Phys. Rev. A 90, 032713 (2014)] was able to incorporate a large number of photoassociation resonances for $^{88}$Sr, but at the time only a handful of resonances close to the dissociation limit were known for $^{84}$Sr and $^{86}$Sr. In this work, we perform a more thorough measurement of $^{84}$Sr and $^{86}$Sr bound states, identifying multiple new resonances at deeper binding energies out to $E/h=-5$ GHz. We also identify several previously measured resonances that cannot be experimentally reproduced and provide alternative binding energies instead. With this improved spectrum, we develop a mass-scaled model that reproduces the observed binding energies of $^{86}$Sr and $^{88}$Sr to within 1 MHz. In order to accurately reproduce the deeper bound states, our model includes a second $1_u$ channel and more faithfully reproduces the depth of the potential. As determined by the previous mass-scaling study, $^{84}$Sr $0_u^+$ levels are strongly perturbed by the avoided crossing between the $^1mathrm{S}_0 + phantom{ }^3mathrm{P}_1$ $0_u^+$ $(^3Pi_u)$ and $^1mathrm{S}_0 + phantom{ }^1mathrm{D}_2$ $0_u^+$ $(^1Sigma_u^+)$ potential curves and therefore are not included in this mass-scaled model, but are accurately reproduced using an isotope-specific model with slightly different quantum defect parameters. In addition, the optical lengths of the $^{84}$Sr $0_u^+, u=-2$ to $ u=-5$ states are measured and compared to numerical estimates to characterize their use as optical Feshbach resonances.

We propose and experimentally investigate a scheme for narrow-line cooling of KRb molecules in the rovibrational ground state. We show that the spin-forbidden $mathrm{X^1Sigma^+} rightarrow mathrm{b^3Pi_{0^+}}$ transition of KRb is ideal for realizin g narrow-line laser cooling of molecules because it has highly diagonal Franck-Condon factors and narrow linewidth. In order to confirm the prediction, we performed the optical and microwave spectroscopy of ultracold $^{41}$K$^{87}$Rb molecules, and determined the linewidth ($2pitimes$ 4.9(4) kHz) and Franck-Condon factors for the $mathrm{X^1Sigma^+} (v=0) rightarrow mathrm{b^3Pi_{0^+}} (v=0)$ transition (0.9474(1)). This result opens the door towards all-optical production of polar molecules at sub-microkelvin temperatures.
We demonstrate the direct formation of vibronic ground state RbCs molecules by photoassociation of ultracold atoms followed by radiative stabilization. The photoassociation proceeds through deeply-bound levels of the (2)^{3}Pi_{0^{+}} state. From ana lysis of the relevant free-to-bound and bound-to-bound Franck-Condon factors, we have predicted and experimentally verified a set of photoassociation resonances that lead to efficient creation of molecules in the v=0 vibrational level of the X^{1}Sigma^{+} electronic ground state. We also compare the observed and calculated laser intensity required to saturate the photoassociation rate. We discuss the prospects for using short-range photoassociation to create and accumulate samples of ultracold polar molecules in their rovibronic ground state.
We report the observation of microwave coherent control of rotational states of ultracold $^{85}$Rb$^{133}$Cs molecules formed in their vibronic ground state by short-range photoassociation. Molecules are formed in the single rotational state $X(v=0, J=1)$ by exciting pairs of atoms to the short-range state $(2)^{3}Pi_{0^{-}} (v=11, J=0)$, followed by spontaneous decay. We use depletion spectroscopy to record the dynamic evolution of the population distribution and observe clear Rabi oscillations while irradiating on a microwave transition between coupled neighbouring rotational levels. A density-matrix formalism that accounts for longitudinal and transverse decay times reproduces both the dynamic evolution during the coherent process and the equilibrium population. The coherent control reported here is valuable both for investigating coherent quantum effects and for applications of cold polar molecules produced by continuous short-range photoassociation.
