Measurements of inclusive $W$ and $Z$ boson production cross-sections in $pp$ collisions at $sqrt{s}=7$ TeV using final states containing muons are presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 37 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb detector. The $W$ and $Z$ bosons are reconstructed from muons with a transverse momentum above 20 GeV$/c$ and pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5, and, in the case of the $Z$ cross-section, a dimuon invariant mass between 60 and 120 GeV$/c^2$. The cross-sections are measured to be {$831pm9pm27pm 29$ pb} for $W^+$, {$656pm8pm19pm 23$ pb} for $W^-$ and {$76.7pm1.7pm3.3pm2.7$ pb} for $Z$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the luminosity. Differential cross-sections, $W$ and $Z$ cross-section ratios and the lepton charge asymmetry are also measured in the same kinematic region. The ratios are determined to be $sigma_{W^+rightarrowmu^+ u} / sigma_{W^-rightarrowmu^-bar{ u}}= ${$1.27pm0.02pm0.01$}, and $sigma_{W^+rightarrowmu^+ u} + sigma_{W^-rightarrowmu^-bar{ u}})/sigma_{Zrightarrowmumu}= ${$19.4pm0.5pm0.9$}. The results are in general agreement with theoretical predictions, performed at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD using recently calculated parton distribution functions.

A measurement of the $Z(rightarrowmu^+mu^-)$+jet production cross-section in $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy $sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of $1.0,text{fb}^{-1}$ recorded by the LHCb expe riment. Results are shown with two jet transverse momentum thresholds, 10 and 20 GeV, for both the overall cross-section within the fiducial volume, and for six differential cross-section measurements. The fiducial volume requires that both the jet and the muons from the Z boson decay are produced in the forward direction ($2.0<eta<4.5$). The results show good agreement with theoretical predictions at the second-order expansion in the coupling of the strong interaction.
We provide a description of the transverse momentum spectrum of single inclusive forward jets produced at the LHC, at the center-of-mass energies of 7 and 13 TeV, using the high energy factorization (HEF) framework. We subsequently study double inclu sive forward jet production and, in particular, we calculate contributions to azimuthal angle distributions coming from double parton scattering. We also compare our results for double inclusive jet production to those obtained with the Pythia Monte Carlo generator. This comparison confirms that the HEF resummation acts like an initial state parton shower. It also points towards the need to include final state radiation effects in the HEF formalism.
A measurement of the production cross-section for $Z$ bosons that decay to muons is presented. The data were recorded by the LHCb detector during $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 f b$^{-1}$. The cross-section is measured for muons in the pseudorapidity range $2.0 < eta < 4.5$ with transverse momenta $p_{T} > 20$ GeV/c. The dimuon mass is restricted to $60 < M_{mu^{+}mu^{-}} < 120$ GeV/c$^{2}$. The measured cross-section is $$sigma_{Zrightarrowmu^{+}mu^{-}} = (76.0 pm 0.3 pm 0.5 pm 1.0 pm 1.3) , text{pb}$$ where the uncertainties are due to the sample size, systematic effects, the beam energy and the luminosity. This result is in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics. The cross-section is also measured differentially as a function of kinematic variables of the $Z$ boson. Ratios of the production cross-sections of electroweak bosons are presented using updated LHCb measurements of $W$ boson production. A precise test of the Standard Model is provided by the measurement of the ratio $$frac{sigma_{W^{+}rightarrowmu^{+} u_{mu}} + sigma_{W^{-}rightarrowmu^{-}bar{ u}_{mu}}}{sigma_{Zrightarrowmu^{+}mu^{-}}} = 20.63pm0.09pm0.12pm0.05,$$ where the uncertainty due to luminosity cancels.
Limits on the cross-section times branching fraction for neutral Higgs bosons, produced in $pp$ collisions at $sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV, and decaying to two tau leptons with pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5, are presented. The result is based on a datase t, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 $mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, collected with the LHCb detector. Candidates are identified by reconstructing final states with two muons, a muon and an electron, a muon and a hadron, or an electron and a hadron. A model independent upper limit at the 95% confidence level is set on a neutral Higgs boson cross-section times branching fraction. It varies from 8.6 pb for a Higgs boson mass of 90 GeV to 0.7 pb for a Higgs boson mass of 250 GeV, and is compared to the Standard Model expectation. An upper limit on $tanbeta$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model is set in the $m_{h^0}^mathrm{max}$ scenario. It ranges from 34 for a CP-odd Higgs boson mass of 90 GeV to 70 for a pseudo-scalar Higgs boson mass of 140 GeV.
A measurement of the inclusive $W to mu u$ production cross-section using data from $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $sqrt{s} = 7 {rm , TeV}$ is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of about $1.0 {rm , fb}^{-1}$ r ecorded with the LHCb detector. Results are reported for muons with a transverse momentum greater than $20 {rm , Gekern -0.1em V!/}c$ and pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. The $W^{+}$ and $W^{-}$ production cross-sections are measured to be $$sigma_{W^{+} to mu^{+} u} = 861.0 pm 2.0 pm 11.2 pm 14.7 {rm , pb},$$ $$sigma_{W^{-} to mu^{-}overline{ u}} = 675.8 pm 1.9 pm 8.8 pm 11.6 {rm , pb},$$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the luminosity determination. Cross-section ratios and differential distributions as functions of the muon pseudorapidity are also presented. The ratio of $W^{+}$ to $W^{-}$ cross-sections in the same fiducial kinematic region is determined to be $$frac{sigma_{W^{+} to mu^{+} u}}{sigma_{W^{-} to mu^{-}overline{ u}}} = 1.274 pm 0.005 pm 0.009,$$ where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics.
